At Velène Design House, we revived the home’s vintage charm, balancing original mid‑century elements, like stone fireplaces and wood paneling, with clean, contemporary lines, subtle traditional touches, and thoughtful textures. This mid‑century ranch remodel transformed a largely untouched 1960s home into a refined, family‑ready retreat.

In a home with just about 1000 sf our design needed to thoughtful, unlike the recent contractor-grade flip it had recently undergone. For clients who love to cook and entertain we came up with several floor plans and this open layout worked best. We used every inch available to add storage, work surfaces, and even squeezed in a 3/4 bath! Colorful but still soothing, the greens in the kitchen and blues in the bathroom remind us of Big Sur, and the nod to mid-century perfectly suits the home and it's new owners.

Lastly, the primary bathroom received a natural and clean refresh. The light grey subway tiles add the perfect amount of subtle color to this serene bathroom renovation. Large windows and natural light: Tall windows and open doorways flood the space with sunlight and connect the interior to the lush greenery outside. Clean-lined furniture: The low-profile sofa and large square coffee table emphasize simplicity and comfort. Layered textures: Upholstered seating, woven textiles, rugs, and decorative pillows soften the modern lines and make the space feel inviting. Minimal decor: The striped abstract artwork introduces subtle color without overwhelming the neutral scheme. Indoor-outdoor connection: The view of tropical landscaping and the open adjoining spaces reinforce a relaxed luxury-home aesthetic. Built-in bar area: The blue-gray built-in cabinetry with glass shelving adds sophistication and a subtle contrast to the otherwise light palette.

One of our clients is a music teacher and singer. Adding a grand piano and echo-ing the blacks and golds in furniture and lighting ties the elegance throughout the space.
