The two-story Dogwood plan offers lots of room to spread out, with a study or optional guest suite on the first floor and a master suite plus two bedrooms and loft on the second floor. The flex room off the entry can serve as an office or formal living or dining room, with options for both trey and coffered ceilings. The kitchen includes a step-in pantry and island with raised bar top, opening to the large central Family Room. The study can also also be configured as a first floor guest suite with full bath, and a bay window is an available option. The hall from the garage offers semi-private access to the study/guest suite area, and an optional drop zone can keep busy families organized.

Modern laundry room and mudroom with natural elements. Casual yet refined, with fresh and eclectic accents. Natural wood, tile flooring, custom cabinetry.

The first area of the home Aaron and Heather wanted to renovate was the master bedroom and ensuite. Some of the walls were not originally positioned in the best configuration, so they moved some around to create a true master suite. The bedroom was opened up to bring in tons of natural light, and a hallway with his and hers closets was built to lead to the master bathroom.

This distinguished home has been designed to maximize livability with 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, main floor master suite with retreat, grand kitchen with double islands, beautifully configured great room with gas fireplace and high ceilings, 3-car garage, and huge loft.

The homeowners wanted to take advantage of induction cooking, but were hesitant because of their unfamiliarity. I suggested reducing their cooktop from 36” to 30” and adding a 15” gas cooktop. The jury’s still out as to whether they'll use the gas, as they've fallen in love with induction.

This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area and screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing.
Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for a shower and water closet.
Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. The rear-facing exercise has great views of the lake through a set of windows that overlook the copper roof of the screened porch below.

Situated on the west slope of Mt. Baker Ridge, this remodel takes a contemporary view on traditional elements to maximize space, lightness and spectacular views of downtown Seattle and Puget Sound. We were approached by Vertical Construction Group to help a client bring their 1906 craftsman into the 21st century. The original home had many redeeming qualities that were unfortunately compromised by an early 2000’s renovation. This left the new homeowners with awkward and unusable spaces. After studying numerous space plans and roofline modifications, we were able to create quality interior and exterior spaces that reflected our client’s needs and design sensibilities. The resulting master suite, living space, roof deck(s) and re-invented kitchen are great examples of a successful collaboration between homeowner and design and build teams.
