Four distinct details increase the usability and style for this deck design. An under deck ceiling creates a dry patio space below the elevated deck. The outdoor ceiling fan and light add convenience and comfort no matter the weather or time-of-day. Deck post sleeves enhance the supporting posts. Deck post caps finish-off the upper level deck rails too. Project design and construction by Archadeck in St. Louis Mo.

Reinforced structure, Repair and Refinishing of Wood Bridge in Webster Groves, MO.
The torrential rain of July caused the creek above this bridge in Webster Groves to flood and sweeping the bridge 1-2 feet away from its original placement. In addition, supporting posts beneath the bridge that were not originally anchored, slipped and floated away.
In order to prevent future movement of the wood bridge and to ensure proper post support, we anchored a ledger to a concrete block, replaced wood support beams, and tied all supporting elements using strong Simpson Strong Ties.
After reinforcing the structure to ensure flooding would not negatively impact the bridge, we cleaned all existing wood, replaced rotted bridge boards, and applied a clear natural stain with built-in UV protection that should protect the wood of the bridge and provide an attractive cosmetic appearance for about two years, when it will need to be refinished again.
A fun and good outcome for the project.

When we added the beam, we needed to add a post to support the new beam. The post was wrapped with drywall so it would not become a focal point. The dry walled post now matches the existing support post on the wall leading down to the family room

This shot beautifully captures all of the different materials used in the staircase from the entry way to the upper floors and guest quarters. The steps are made of kiln dried fir beams from the Oregon Coast, each beam was a free of heart center cut. The railing was built in place to make it look as though it was all on continuous piece. The steps to the third floor office in the top left of the picture are floating and held in place with metal support in the grinder finish. The flooring in the entry way is 2'x3' tiles of Pennsylvania Bluestone. In the bottom left hand corner is a reclaimed sliding barn door that leads to the laundry room, made in a patchwork pattern by local artist, Rob Payne.

Our client wanted an outdoor living space for her Border Collies and rescued cats. We used her existing patio and gave it a good power washing, fresh paint and we brought in Rough Sawn Redwood to create the fence and cat walks. We also added the trellis to support her healthy plants that would provide shade during the hotter months and bring several hummingbirds to home. PC: Aaron Gilless
