We’re focused on creating spaces that are beautifully crafted, functional, and stand the test of time. Our kitchens projects are designed to serve as expressions of your personality and style, while still reflecting your personal taste and lifestyle. What's your dream kitchen like? We can help you create it.

We designed and renovated a Mid-Century Modern home into an ADA compliant home with an open floor plan and updated feel. We incorporated many of the homes original details while modernizing them. We converted the existing two car garage into a master suite and walk in closet, designing a master bathroom with an ADA vanity and curb-less shower. We redesigned the existing living room fireplace creating an artistic focal point in the room. The project came with its share of challenges which we were able to creatively solve, resulting in what our homeowners feel is their first and forever home.
This beautiful home won three design awards:
• Pro Remodeler Design Award – 2019 Platinum Award for Universal/Better Living Design
• Chrysalis Award – 2019 Regional Award for Residential Universal Design
• Qualified Remodeler Master Design Awards – 2019 Bronze Award for Universal Design

Virginia AIA Merit Award for Excellence in Residential Design | What appeared to be a simple, worn-out, early 20th century stucco cottage was to be modestly renovated as a weekend retreat. But when the contractor and architects began pulling away the interior wall finishes, they discovered a log cabin at its core (believed to date as far back as the 1780’s) and a newer addition (circa 1920’s) at the rear where the site slopes down. Initial plans were scrapped, and a new project was born that honors the original construction while accommodating new infrastructure and the clients’ modern tastes.

2011 NARI CAPITAL COTY HONORABLE MENTION AWARD WINNER
The existing master bathroom in this home was vintage Seventies. The small, 5’x8’ room contained a tub, a toilet and a small vanity. Just outside was a wasted dressing area and doors to a closet.
Tired of the look, the homeowner wanted a contemporary space with all the amenities that a new bathroom has to offer. To meet their needs, the remodeling team at Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes redid the space, installed double vanities, increased the size of the shower and upgraded the materials.
The new design combined the dressing area, some of closet area and the bathroom to create a much bigger bathroom. The tub was removed, the toilet relocated and a large corner shower with built-in bench and shelving was installed. A 60” leaded glass door (pocket door) was installed as the bathroom entrance to provide more light.
Heated flooring was installed under new tumbled marble flooring for extra comfort. Use of tumbled marble in the shower floor, walls and bathroom surround was tastefully designed and outlined with rope and chair rails. The heavy glass custom shower enclosure allows a clear viewing of decoratively laid marbles.
The end result lets the clients spend more time in their bathroom which is beautiful and cleverly designed to fit their lifestyles.

This amazing bathroom was renovated to have a modern flare. The tile is a shiny gray porcelain that has a rectified edge so it could be butted up tight and the grout lines minimal. My client had previously chosen this tile throughout her home. The Graff Luna freestanding tub filler is mounted on a floating glass mosaic tiled wall. We relocated the tub. Instead of saw cutting into the slab floor we built a platform to hide the plumbing that the tub rests on. The floating vanity cabinets are made of laminate beautifully displaying the quartz countertop with a straight 3" mitered edge. The sides of the countertops drop to the floor on each side of the cabinet, known as a waterfall edge. My client and I designed a cut in wave on the tiled floor leading into the shiny white shower with a floating white quartz bench seat. We built in custom planters made from the quartz countertop material that balance out each side of the floating tub wall in the center of the bathroom. I must say, throughout this design process my client was involved the entire time. She played an integral role in selecting the amazing fixtures seen in this master bathroom remodel. She needed help with the layout so she reached out to us. As you can see in the results we collaborated well together. It was pleasure to work with a client who has such exquisite taste.

2010 NARI CAPITAL COTY FINALIST AWARD WINNER
This project transformed a little-used room in the homeowner’s lower level into an entertainment center, featuring a 1,500-bottle refrigerated wine cabinet, a wet bar, custom-made bookshelves and an entertainment center.
The project started with a rectangular space that was appreciably stripped down, except for the fireplace at the far end. An adjacent room housed a professional pool table.
Custom-built cabinetry spans the length of the wall, with two floor-level cabinets flanking the wine cooler. Above, twin glass-facing walnut displays – lighted and rising nearly to the ceiling – rest on a black marble countertop, showcase the owner’s impressive wine collection.
On the long wall perpendicular to the rack, a widescreen television hangs between two built-in bookcases designed by the contractor. The firm also fabricated the two bookcases now flanking the original fireplace in the far end wall – as well as the glass-faced hanging cabinets which are lighted above the newly installed wet bar.

2012 NATIONAL NARI COTY SOUTHEAST REGIONAL AWARD WINNER, RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR SPECIALTY
Scope: Creative design in converting a plain basement storage space into a wine cellar and tasting room for a couple that is changing their basement over to an adult “play” space. The basement already has a movie theater, exercise room, and a game table. They have been visiting local wineries and collecting for a future wine cellar of their own.
Needed to work around the existing ductwork for the main level, tie into the electrical panel and HVAC system, move the hot water heater and furnace with associated ductwork, and hide the sump pump in the corner. They also wanted an upgraded look in the cabinetry and shelving. The space needed to be insulated and waterproofed to maintain constant temperature.
We connected to the existing electrical system, adding a split cooling system to their existing HVAC. The HVAC for the cellar has its own ductwork and compressor system, but ties into the existing system for drainage. These needed to be routed through the floor joists above. We ordered cabinetry and modified it to conceal the sump pump in the corner, as well as cut the racks to fit around the overhead duct work that cut across the middle of the ceiling. We installed mini LED lights along the shelving to give a glow so the labels could be read. The tasting table is upgraded to granite with a barrel curved edge, and shelving for larger bottles above.
Small touches added to the cabinetry and racks we ordered make this a custom designed cellar. Textures in the tile pick up on the wood grain of the mahogany racking. The custom insulated door has a frosted design. There are a variety of lights used, all on timer, including the LEDs, recessed and puck lights over the tasting area. The raised tumble limestone and the rest of the design, makes it unique to these homeowners.

2012 NARI CAPITAL COTY, MERIT AWARD WINNER, RESIDENTIAL BATH $30,000 to $60,000
The owners of this contemporary home in Centreville, Virginia, had a dated master bathroom suite that didn’t meet their modern tastes or their needs.
To make the changes they wanted, the design team at Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes determined that the room would need to be gutted. All the partition walls had to go, as did the old whirlpool tub. And all of the plumbing and fixtures had to be relocated to new positions to meet the new design’s criteria.
The clients previously replaced the bathroom windows with glass blocks. Thus, contemporary glass blocks were used instead of partition walls to add openness to this new bathroom layout.
Large polished limestone tiles were used on the bathroom floors and walls, and stylish glass tiles were used as an accent. A free-standing oval tub adds to the room’s contemporary look and saves a lot of space as well. A two-person shower stall with a modern body spray shower system was also installed.
Custom built high level cabinetry and vanities, and modern lighting—both recessed and hanging fixtures— contribute greatly to the success of the final project.

This elegant little jewel of a space in Kansas City is dramatic and tasteful. Who says that wallpaper is dated? Crystal sconces with drum shades accent this small but dramatic space. The ceiling fixture is crystal and allows the light to shimmer over the space. Kohler fixtures create a new yet traditional flair. This was quite the hit with the client’s guests at their last party.
