Working within the confines of a narrow block, the desire was to diverge from the typical and create a home at once distinct and blended with its surrounds. The Boulevarde embodies sustainability in every aspect of its construction. Fully automated yet designed for living. The five-bedroom home is a distinctly modern design letting in light and energy from the outside world to create a seamless sanctuary. From the global first Hydronic heating for the swimming pool to the plant rich Green roof, the house harmonises with its environment collecting rainwater for irrigation, using solar technology to heat the water and also provide free power to the occupants, while using external automatic window shades to moderate interior temperature. When she decided to renovate her kitchen, I had the honor of designing it for her as well as form a connection that I still cherish to this day. Upon my most recent visit to her home to take photos, she greeted me with fresh coffee and pastries, a testament to the warmth of her character. ​ The renovation journey with Sorena was one filled with creativity and collaboration. As the designer, I took charge of curating the finish and lighting selections, while also assisting in the layout of all the cabinetry. One significant transformation was the decision to replace the existing tile with brand new hardwood floors. The kitchen transformed into a culinary masterpiece, blending elegance with functionality. ​ The focal points of the space are the La Cornue Stove imported from France and its coordinating custom range hood. Sorena insisted on these for her dream kitchen, and they indeed became the statement pieces that brought the design together. We complemented these with countertops of honed finish quartzite from Italy, which we both fell in love with as soon as we saw it. Its subtle sheen and luxurious feel added an exquisite touch to the space. ​ No detail was too small in Sorena's kitchen, and every corner had a story. The dreamy breakfast nook, overlooking her koi pond garden, was carefully crafted with a built-in bench adorned with green fabric cushions, providing a cozy spot for morning reflections or intimate conversations. ​ The project, located in West Chester, PA, was a success not only in the transformation of the space but also in creating her dream kitchen. It became an extension of her artistic flair, a place where she could not only host, but express herself. Our clients found their perfect home in the ideal location, with just one catch...they didn't love the interior. It was a little dated. We can fix that! And so we did. Starting with new hardwood floors, we painted the kitchen cabinets, added new carpeting to the staircase, new tile floors in the upstairs bathrooms, new comfort-height toilets, and fresh paint throughout the home. We chose distinct colors for the ceiling, trim, doors, and walls, ensuring a harmonious yet dynamic look. The fireplace brick and trim received a fresh coat, and the stair railings were painted to create a cohesive and modern aesthetic. Revamping the Kitchen We installed a new sink and faucet in the kitchen to enhance functionality and style. Removing the half-wall opened up the space, and we relocated the electrical socket to the outside wall for better accessibility and a cleaner look. Hardwood and Vinyl Flooring We installed beautiful hardwood flooring throughout the home, excluding the laundry room and the tub area of the master bathroom. The two upstairs bedrooms, covering approximately 350 square feet, now boast the elegance of hardwood. We laid luxury vinyl flooring in the laundry room and upstairs bath for practical and aesthetic purposes, combining durability with style. Upgrading Doors To add a touch of luxury, we replaced four hollow doors with solid wood doors in the master bedroom, front TV room, and two upstairs bedrooms. Additionally, we hung a slab door in the basement, all provided by the homeowner, ensuring their taste was reflected in the updates. Addressing Miscellaneous Needs We didn't overlook the details. The access panel to the tub in the upstairs bedroom closet was repaired to ensure functionality and aesthetic continuity. We also provided and installed a half-size utility sink in the laundry room, enhancing its practicality. This project was a special one for us. We had the pleasure of working with a lovely retired couple in their early 70s who were returning clients! It's always a testament to our work when clients come back for more. This time, they were ready to tackle a full bathroom and basement renovation to truly make their Mississauga home a haven for their golden years. Before: Outdated and Cramped Both bathrooms were stuck in a time warp, sporting outdated fixtures and cramped layouts. Limited storage and bulky linen towers that blocked natural light added to the feeling of confinement. Downstairs, the basement was a sea of belongings with only one closet for storage. Peeling linoleum tiles and remnants of an acoustic ceiling definitely didn't create an inviting atmosphere. The Vision: Functionality, Light, and Style Our clients desired bathrooms that were both functional and stylish, with ample storage and a spa-like ambiance. In the basement, their dream was to create a space where they could relax, pursue hobbies, and entertain, all while keeping their belongings organized. The Transformation: Custom Solutions for a Perfect Fit ●Bathrooms: We banished the bulky linen towers and designed custom vanities withdrawers and shallow countertop towers to maximize storage without sacrificing light.Frameless glass shower enclosures added a modern touch and further enhanced thefeeling of spaciousness. Each bathroom, though similar in shape, boasts a distinctpersonality.
