Named after Dr. Mary Thompson, one of the first women to practice medicine in Chicago, the Thompson at Fulton Market is an impressive 12-story building, housing 210 units. A mix of traditional and modern, this building is combined with an original structure from the 1920s. The Thompson houses our 1-1/8" advantage series Magiglide doors, complete with floor-to-ceiling storage.

This open concept kitchen by Thompson Remodeling involved removing walls to allow open flow from the kitchen into the living and dining rooms. The star of this kitchen is the expansive island, anchored by gorgeous columns with features that include plenty of work space, built-in bookshelves, and seating for three. Perimeter cabinets are maple with a caramel, chocolate glaze finish and the island cabinetry is alder with chestnut finish. Other design details include quartz countertops and ceramic tile flooring and backsplash.

Thompson Remodeling really enjoyed working with this Grand Rapids family to remodel their basement into a family space where they could showcase their favorite sports memorabilia and other memories from their home state of Maryland. After remodeling their previous home just 6 months earlier, circumstances required the family to move. One day upon returning to their new home, they found their basement flooded! Realizing they needed to act fast to repair the damage they contacted Thompson Remodeling to help. When discussing the design for the project, our clients told us how much they had loved the updates they made to their last home and were hoping to use similar warm tones and rustic materials. We looked at photos of that home for inspiration and developed a design that would serve as an entertaining and gathering space that would allow their fantastic collection of Maryland sports memorabilia to shine. Careful consideration was given on how to use every nook and cranny of space, as was the selection process for specific rustic materials that would contribute warmth and visual interest. We used Ghost Wood to create a rich accent wall in the tv viewing area. A private hangout space for our clients' daughter was created behind sliding barn doors.

The linear lines created by the center storage cabinet are nicely offset by a quartz countertop with round sinks. The walk-in shower features rich, ceramic tile walls and ceiling set in a repeating pattern and a pebble stone floor. Storage niches were set into the wall so that soaps and shampoos are kept hidden from view.

Classical in style, the Thompson 37-inch combo boasts a timeless appeal that will enhance the beauty of any bathroom. Tasteful detailing enriches the sophisticated aesthetic that includes the choice of either a Charcoal Glaze or French White finish. A solid wood frame, dovetail construction and Black Bronze hardware speak to the quality craftsmanship of this collection.

The handsome cabinetry in this kitchen is a combination of maple with white tinted varnish and alder in a rich java stain. Other features include quartz countertops, a realistic wood tile floor, and island seating for three. To make the kitchen more accessible we removed a door that had previously blocked entry from the dining room.

The clients told our designer that they wanted to hang a Maryland flag in the basement so she found this fantastic flag made of distressed wood which was hung above the mantel. For the flooring, we selected a gorgeous vinyl plank for easy cleaning and maintenance.
