Before renovating this room, the wood paneling was stained and it looked very dated. As an affordable and less time consuming option to refinishing it, I painted the wall paneling. Then, I removed shutters that looked very visually heavy and installed woven wood shades with a privacy liner. Using a neutral foundation, I added color with accessories and art.

Step 1: Out with the Old: The most costly and time-consuming part of a bathroom renovation is relocating plumbing and electrical fixtures. The demo involved can leave the space unusable for weeks, with walls that need repair and tiles that need replacing. So I decided to leave the existing bathroom layout in place but replace the sink and tub fixtures. The inside was bare wood. It had to be primed, then painted. We decided to paint the floor also grey. There were a lot of nooks and crannies inside, making the painting inside difficult and time-consuming.

This was a very fun project that I did in the southern part of Portland, Oregon. I was so happy/honored to be able to work with the homeowners on some design ideas! That is something that I love to do and with a few years of experience under my tool belt I feel that I have a lot to offer. Hedy will add excitement and color to any of today?s interiors. The hand finishing process used on this chandelier lends an air of depth and richness not achieved by less time-consuming methods.

Just finished up the vanity in the master bathroom of my house. It is made from wormy American Chestnut with walnut hinges, handles and pulls. I wanted something unique and wanted to make every piece on the vanity (except the top which is a stone top). Buying hinges and handles just didn’t seem right for a piece like this so I decided to make them myself from walnut. Time consuming and challenging, but worth it in the end. I wanted an old look for the hinges, like the hammered style strap hinges of the past. So on those, I whittled on them with a pocket knife to give them that rustic, handmade appearance. The drawer boxes were made with 3/4” wormy oak sides with 1/2” plywood bottoms. I also made the wood slides from oak. I took down all of this wood from an old house that a friend of mine had on his place, dating well back into the 1800’s. The home was filled with beautiful tongue and groove American chestnut walls and flooring, and I was fortunate enough to be able to salvage some for myself. The past lives on in my new home.

The best way to figure out how to put your finished basement to use is to determine what your home is missing. Working out and keeping on track can be very time consuming and the thought of working out in a crowded gym does not make the situation any better No excuses if you have a workout room with your own bathroom and refrigerator –right?
