Designed by Marc Jean-Michel of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Bethesda, MD in collaboration with Wisdom Construction, this Washington, DC kitchen remodel features Merillat Masterpiece kitchen cabinets in the Ganon door style in a Dove White finish with Calacatta Laza engineered quartz countertops from Q by MSI. The kitchen features unique storage in a smaller galley kitchen space by utilizing the toe kick area of the cabinets to create pull out drawer storage. Inspiration for a contemporary hallway remodel in Chicago

The perimeter cabinets are finished in Antique White and the island in Cadet Grey. The kitchen features Zodiaq London Sky quartz counter tops, island seating for six, pot filler, Franke Farmhouse fireclay sink, two-tiered wall cabinets with glass at the top tier and corners, toe-kick step stool, (4) toe-kick drawers, (2) hidden spice pull-outs, (4) double base cabinet pull-outs, cutlery divider inserts, knife block insert, double trash pull-out, (2) lazy Susans, (2) under sink cleaning supply pull-outs, custom vertical storage, wood hood, decorative crown, hand carved corbels and large furniture legs. The all Wolf/Sub Zero appliances include two paneled Asko dishwashers, 48” paneled Sub-Zero, Best hood insert, Wolf 48” dual fuel range, Wolf paneled warming drawer and Wolf under counter drawer microwave. Every square inch must serve a function when you are downsizing. In this kitchen designer Carol Kornak replaced a desk area (a home office is located in another part of the home) with a beverage center for coffee, wine and other beverages. The location keeps traffic out of the main cooking area and allows guests to help themselves. The cabinets were custom painted a warm off-white to match the existing woodwork throughout the home. The glittery Cambria countertops complement the crystal pendant lights and crystal hardware.

Soft Striip SS3 provides high levels of light with 3070K Warm White or 2540K Very Warm White LEDs, 75+ CRI, 48 lumens per watt. 32,000 hour average lamp life. The .50 inch wide flexible copper strip with optically clear protective coating is sold in 1 foot increments up to 40 feet. Includes plug in connectors on each end and 6 foot power feed cable. For custom lengths, smaller segments are available in 4 inch increments, sold separately. Use plug in flexible connectors for making turns and custom configurations. At 2.4 watts per foot, this economical systems dims with a standard low voltage electronic dimmer, Lutron Diva DVELV-300P, Skylark SELV-300P or Maestro MAELV-600, when using TEB-60L-24VDC power supply, sold separately. Higher wattage 92 or 192 watt power supply available for use with a 0-10 volt dimmer-Lightolier ZP600FAM120. Maximizing the functionality of this space, and coordinating the new kitchen with the beautiful remodel completed previously by the client were the two most important aspects of this project. The existing spaces are elegantly decorated with an open plan, dark hardwood floors, and natural stone accents. The new, lighter, more open kitchen flows beautifully into the client’s existing dining room space. Satin nickel hardware blends with the stainless steel appliances and matches the satin nickel details throughout the home. The fully integrated refrigerator next to the narrow pull-out pantry cabinet, take up less visual weight than a traditional stainless steel appliance and the two combine to provide fantastic storage. The glass cabinet doors and decorative lighting beautifully highlight the client’s glassware and dishes.
