This Master Bath is knotty alder wood. The door style has bead board in the panel. The homeowner wanted a furniture look, so we added legs and pushed the toe kick back under the vanity. The contractor added toe kick lighting.

Relocating to Portland, Oregon from California, this young family immediately hired Amy to redesign their newly purchased home to better fit their needs. The project included updating the kitchen, hall bath, and adding an en suite to their master bedroom. Removing a wall between the kitchen and dining allowed for additional counter space and storage along with improved traffic flow and increased natural light to the heart of the home. This galley style kitchen is focused on efficiency and functionality through custom cabinets with a pantry boasting drawer storage topped with quartz slab for durability, pull-out storage accessories throughout, deep drawers, and a quartz topped coffee bar/ buffet facing the dining area. The master bath and hall bath were born out of a single bath and a closet. While modest in size, the bathrooms are filled with functionality and colorful design elements. Durable hex shaped porcelain tiles compliment the blue vanities topped with white quartz countertops. The shower and tub are both tiled in handmade ceramic tiles, bringing much needed texture and movement of light to the space. The hall bath is outfitted with a toe-kick pull-out step for the family’s youngest member!

A custom made vanity utilizing the space usually wasted at the toe kick by creating a drawer - extra storage is always helpful! And it doubles as a step stool for your little ones. This toe-kick drawer, in fact, is in our own home, and our 3-year old twins use it as a step stool to brush their teeth and wash their hands. It's a multi-purpose design solution that's worked well for our own family.

More about the project. This young couple has a creative back ground, one being an actor and the other being a teacher who inspires others. They now enjoy a new historical home with amazing touches of modern styling and comforts. The home was designed by renowned architect Irving Gill in 1905 and is on the historical register but it only applies to the exterior of the home. The brick pillar is an original feature from the home's turn-of-the-century stove. The window casings were built to replicate the original Douglas Fir windows as seen on Gill's original plans, and all the molding was redone in his signature flush style as well. The central feature in this kitchen is the Yellow Italian Bertazzoni Range with a single herringbone tiled back splash. The cabinetry is a light gray paired perfectly with a dark "graphite" gray island, and industrial vents at the toe kick enhance the overall look. KITCHEN: This open floor plan kitchen is a mix of materials in a modern industrial style. The back L portion is black painted wood veneer with dark stainless steel bridge handles with matching dark stainless countertop and toe kick. The island is a natural ruxe wood veneer with dark stainless steel integrated handles with matching toe kick. The counter top on the island is a honed black quartz. Integrated Miele refrigerator/freezer and built in coffee maker. This spacious kitchen in Westchester County is flooded with light from huge windows on 3 sides of the kitchen plus two skylights in the vaulted ceiling. The dated kitchen was gutted and reconfigured to accommodate this large kitchen with crisp white cabinets and walls. This traditional bathroom incorporates classic details including chandeliers, crown molding, corbels and toe kicks. In addition to double sinks, the space also incorporates a sit-down vanity with storage for makeup, jewelry and perfume.

This is a guest bathroom in my personal residence. The previous bathroom has a fiberglass tub/shower combo where the existing shower is at currently. This room is located in a daylight basement with no natural light. My design goal to to create a timeless space where guests would feel welcomed and comfortable while also improving my property for my own use. I added three LED recessed lights (the one in the shower is on its own switch), an additional light source over the second sink, caesarstone rosemary countertops, bamboo cabinets, and a 24x12 tile was used on the floor and shower walls. I used all polished chrome fixtures as well as a square shower drain.

The Lighting in this great room is layered in many different ways. From the trimless square accent lights in the wood above the dining table, to the uplights and cable lights integrated into the trusses the architectural lighting becomes one with the architecture. Maximizing the functionality of this space, and coordinating the new kitchen with the beautiful remodel completed previously by the client were the two most important aspects of this project. The existing spaces are elegantly decorated with an open plan, dark hardwood floors, and natural stone accents. The new, lighter, more open kitchen flows beautifully into the client’s existing dining room space. Satin nickel hardware blends with the stainless steel appliances and matches the satin nickel details throughout the home. The fully integrated refrigerator next to the narrow pull-out pantry cabinet, take up less visual weight than a traditional stainless steel appliance and the two combine to provide fantastic storage. The glass cabinet doors and decorative lighting beautifully highlight the client’s glassware and dishes.
