These Dallas home owners used Weatherwell Elite aluminum shutters to create privacy in their outdoor kitchen. The wood grain powder coat complements their rustic design scheme, and the operable louvers allow them to regulate the airflow.

This client came to us with a very clear vision of what she wanted, but she needed help to refine and execute the design. At our first meeting she described her style as somewhere between modern rustic and ‘granny chic’ – she likes cozy spaces with nods to the past, but also wanted to blend that with the more contemporary tastes of her husband and children. Functionally, the old layout was less than ideal with an oddly placed 3-sided fireplace and angled island creating traffic jams in and around the kitchen. By creating a U-shaped layout, we clearly defined the chef’s domain and created a circulation path that limits disruptions in the heart of the kitchen. While still an open concept, the black cabinets, bar height counter and change in flooring all add definition to the space. The vintage inspired black and white tile is a nod to the past while the black stainless range and matte black faucet are unmistakably modern.
High on our client’s wish list was eliminating upper cabinets and keeping the countertops clear. In order to achieve this, we needed to ensure there was ample room in the base cabinets and reconfigured pantry for items typically stored above. The full height tile backsplash evokes exposed brick and serves as the backdrop for the custom wood-clad hood and decorative brass sconces – a perfect blend of rustic, modern and chic. Black and brass elements are repeated throughout the main floor in new hardware, lighting, and open shelves as well as the owners’ curated collection of family heirlooms and furnishings. In addition to renovating the kitchen, we updated the entire first floor with refinished hardwoods, new paint, wainscoting, wallcovering and beautiful new stained wood doors. Our client had been dreaming and planning this kitchen for 17 years and we’re thrilled we were able to bring it to life.

This view shows the entry courtyard and the home office courtyard to the right. We differentiated the areas by using a darker gravel between the two areas with a simple flagstone paver. A water fountain outside of the office doors provides white noise to reduce the traffic noise.

This project was a complete gut remodel of the owner's childhood home. They demolished it and rebuilt it as a brand-new two-story home to house both her retired parents in an attached ADU in-law unit, as well as her own family of six. Though there is a fire door separating the ADU from the main house, it is often left open to create a truly multi-generational home. For the design of the home, the owner's one request was to create something timeless, and we aimed to honor that.

Style is the art of understanding the details. The set, consisting of a bar stool and a bar table, is impressive due to its shape and its exclusive details. The braided components are created in high-end handicraft, adding a classy appearance to the collection. The “Casino Royale” deluxe ensemble brings unobtrusive elegance to any bar – be it indoors or outdoors.

This was a full architectural and interior renovation of the existing kitchen and dining areas in a 150 + year old home. This home has been in the family for generations. Well loved and respected by all members and especially by the owners. This was hallowed ground. With respect to the age of the house, the inspirational aesthetic and passion of the client we created this amazing kitchen with all modern conveniences cloaked in tradition and warmth. We added arches, clerestory and custom windows to create the architectural space to hold a kitchen and dining area brimming with stunning custom cabinetry, hardware, extra wide plank wood floors and charming, unique lighting. Overall the space feels modern, crisp, yet warm, authentic and welcoming.

These homeowners had purchased a home planning to make it a multi-generation home, and they were finally ready to build the upstairs kitchen in the bonus room! In the spirit of color and personality we selected the perfect shade of blue and a stained Alder that worked beautifully with the oak floors. And though it started off with a bold blue vein quartz they ended up falling in love with a gorgeous, leathered dolomite that is soft and luxurious. Then, knowing they did not want tile and grout, we suggested IMAGIO tempered glass and Marty found the perfect image of a geode (one of the homeowners collects them) to add the touch of fun and personality to the space! With this space needing to accommodate separate living, we designed and built a custom laundry cabinet and pantry cabinet that can handle all the storage and cooking needs all wrapped up in a cool and functional package! This one was a blast to do for this fun family!

Owners' suite bathroom was formed out the space from a small bedroom. The adjacent bedroom is new created by adding a floor in the space where a vaulted ceiling was for the family room below. This bathroom includes a water closet, free-standing tub, tiled shower, dual vanities and closet space. Photo by SMHerrick Photography.
