Design by Blue Heron in Partnership with Cantoni. Photos By: Stephen Morgan
For many, Las Vegas is a destination that transports you away from reality. The same can be said of the thirty-nine modern homes built in The Bluffs Community by luxury design/build firm, Blue Heron. Perched on a hillside in Southern Highlands, The Bluffs is a private gated community overlooking the Las Vegas Valley with unparalleled views of the mountains and the Las Vegas Strip. Indoor-outdoor living concepts, sustainable designs and distinctive floorplans create a modern lifestyle that makes coming home feel like a getaway.
To give potential residents a sense for what their custom home could look like at The Bluffs, Blue Heron partnered with Cantoni to furnish a model home and create interiors that would complement the Vegas Modern™ architectural style. “We were really trying to introduce something that hadn’t been seen before in our area. Our homes are so innovative, so personal and unique that it takes truly spectacular furnishings to complete their stories as well as speak to the emotions of everyone who visits our homes,” shares Kathy May, director of interior design at Blue Heron. “Cantoni has been the perfect partner in this endeavor in that, like Blue Heron, Cantoni is innovative and pushes boundaries.”
Utilizing Cantoni’s extensive portfolio, the Blue Heron Interior Design team was able to customize nearly every piece in the home to create a thoughtful and curated look for each space. “Having access to so many high-quality and diverse furnishing lines enables us to think outside the box and create unique turnkey designs for our clients with confidence,” says Kathy May, adding that the quality and one-of-a-kind feel of the pieces are unmatched.
rom the perfectly situated sectional in the downstairs family room to the unique blue velvet dining chairs, the home breathes modern elegance. “I particularly love the master bed,” says Kathy. “We had created a concept design of what we wanted it to be and worked with one of Cantoni’s longtime partners, to bring it to life. It turned out amazing and really speaks to the character of the room.”
The combination of Cantoni’s soft contemporary touch and Blue Heron’s distinctive designs are what made this project a unified experience. “The partnership really showcases Cantoni’s capabilities to manage projects like this from presentation to execution,” shares Luca Mazzolani, vice president of sales at Cantoni. “We work directly with the client to produce custom pieces like you see in this home and ensure a seamless and successful result.”
And what a stunning result it is. There was no Las Vegas luck involved in this project, just a sureness of style and service that brought together Blue Heron and Cantoni to create one well-designed home.

THEME At some point, every little boy
imagines himself a cowboy riding
horseback, herding cattle over the
wooded plains and warring with
ferocious outlaws. High noon or not,
in this room, the Wild West is brought
to life in fantastic detail with a Chuck
Wagon bed, Western-style drawers
and a variety of room accents.
FOCUS The room’s central feature is
the Chuck Wagon bed, a companion
to Kidtropolis’ signature Princess
bed. Replicating a Chuck Wagon
in every respect, this version of Old
West transport comes complete with
wagon wheels, a canvas canopy, and
even a ladder. Accessories such as a
frying pan, lantern, bucket, rope and
milk barrel set the stage for life on
the range; while pictures of cowboys,
Indians, teepees, campfires and tengallon
hats evoke images of the OK
Corral. Stuffed horses, a small wagon
and pup tent add to the atmosphere.
STORAGE The wagon’s front high seat
serves as a changing table complete
with pad. Convenient storage areas
are located in the back and in the side
box.
GROWTH The Chuck Wagon bed
works as a baby crib and is suitable for
a toddler up to the age of four.
SAFETY A safety railing around the
walls of the bed prevent baby from
falling out, and can be removed when
needed. Wheels and accessories are
immobile to ensure the wagon is safe
for rest and play.

Located moments from NYC transportation, parks, dining and nightlife.

What had once been a purely utilitarian bathroom — all bland white fixtures and little sense of personality — became an opportunity to embrace the carefree spirit of a second home by the Pacific. Rather than treating the space with the restraint of a primary residence, we leaned into something more playful and transportive, drawing from the colors and textures of the coastline just beyond the windows. A wallcovering patterned with oversized seashells in soft blue and white wraps the room like a seaside interpretation of a French toile, giving the space a sense of whimsy without losing its sophistication. The palette throughout echoes sea glass, salt air, and sun-faded driftwood, creating a room that feels equal parts breezy retreat and quiet escape.
At the center of the design, a light wood vanity with fluted doors introduces warmth and subtle texture, balancing the cool tones that flow through the room. Inside the shower, a back wall of pale blue fan tile unfurls like scales or waves, catching the light with a softness that feels almost aquatic. Overhead, a sculptural light fixture woven from natural fibers brings an unexpected touch of humor and movement — reminiscent of the swaying fringe of a hula dancer’s grass skirt. The result is a bathroom that no longer feels anonymous or obligatory, but instead captures the relaxed, slightly nostalgic joy of life lived near the ocean.

“Zinc mining in the Almanna Canyon in Sauda, Norway, commenced in 1882 under extremely basic conditions.... The mine was closed in 1899....At about the spot where the ore used to be washed and a miners’ barracks once stood on a rocky outcrop, there is now a rest stop on National Highway 520....
Our project was commissioned by the Statens vegvesen, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, to commemorate the almost forgotten history of the zinc mine ... On taking a closer look, one can indeed discover traces of the canyon’s mining history: the transport trail beginning at the mine entrance and cut into the slope with supporting walls and bridges, the foundations of the wooden platform from which the ore was thrown down, and the remains of foundations for simple wooden structures that have since disappeared.
Our design works with these elements. It proposes a family of four structures, light wooden constructions along the old mine pathway. The modest open-air museum begins at the redesigned rest stop. Here we find the first member of the little family, a service building. Opposite the rest stop we have built a new flight of stone stairs which leads up to the former trail from the pit. A few more steps up the trail we come to the mining café....
After a further turn in the canyon pathway we come upon a shelter, a collection point where those who want to take a guided tour through the mine are given a helmet with a headlamp. Right next to this, visitors climb up to the mining museum, the fourth and last member of the family of buildings, ...”

Stepping into this space is like stepping into a slice of Portugal, thanks to the incredible vision of our client. The deep green handmade wall tiles exude richness and depth, reminiscent of Portugal's lush landscapes. And oh, the floor tiles! Each one a masterpiece, weaving together in a mesmerizing pattern that transports you to the vibrant streets of Lisbon.
Can we just take a moment to admire the sheer visual delight of this space? ? From the elegant wood fluted vanity to the captivating chevron mirror, every detail is a testament to refined taste and thoughtful design.
What we adore most about this primary bathroom is how it effortlessly balances visual interest with a sense of tranquility. It's the perfect oasis for those moments of relaxation and rejuvenation.
