This high end remodel is situated in the suburb of south Denver, in Lone Tree, Colorado and showcases clean lines modern design with light and bright finishes and blue hues throughout the primary bath, primary bedroom and adjacent seating room. MOTIF was asked to remodel this master suite in a home built in the 1990's. The remodel involved removal of architectural elements such as eyebrow arches and angled walls, a dramatic floor to ceiling, linear fireplace was added to separate a space called "the sanctuary" by the owner - what became an understated sitting room adjacent to sleeping area for reading and prayer.

Stepping stones in a minimal gravel paved area lead past two lounge chairs to the intimate dining area. The herringbone-patterned limestone patio dissipates into a lush planting bed filled with loose swaths of shade-loving perennials and seasonal bulbs. Beech hedging, and formal clipped evergreens, surround the space and provide privacy, structure and winter interest to the garden. On axis to the main interior living space of the home, the fountain, is the focal point of the garden. A limestone water wall featuring an engraved pattern of fallen Honey Locust leaves nods to the centrally located mature Honey Locust tree that anchors the garden. Water, flowing down the wall, falls a short distance into a pool with a submerged limestone panel. The light noise of the falling water helps soften the sounds of the bustling downtown neighbourhood, creating a tranquil back drop for living and entertaining.

Inspired by antique Persian "garden" and panel rugs, this design organizes a soft, sandy-beige field into a grid of compartments, each holding faded pictorial motifs — cypress trees, blossoms, birds, and small figural forms — rendered in a scattered, semi-erased palette of cornflower blue, mustard gold, sage green, and dusty maroon. The deliberately faded, weathered treatment gives it the look of a beloved antique rug that's lived a long life, with color emerging unevenly across the surface for a soft, painterly effect. This distressed pictorial style is especially popular in transitional and modern-eclectic spaces that want traditional storytelling motifs without the visual weight of a fully saturated traditional rug.

The oversize custom rug and peachy-pink wall color set the tone for this expansive room. The library table displaying orchids doubles as a dining table during inclement weather. A local artisan painted the ceiling to enhance the tropical motif and arched French doors lead to the infinity pool patio with beautiful tropical landscaping as a backdrop on one side and to the sea on the other. This deck features a gas ring fireplace, which dances in color. Natural teak wedge sofa and swivel armchairs are complete luxury. The accent pillows echo old Alhambra with their Arts and Crafts motif. White Sunbrella cushions adorn the chairs and the sofa. The client wanted to feel out doors when in this most private space. We collaborated and came up with this stunning shower insert. All hand painted in the Minneapolis MN, with gorgeous chair rail trim to frame it out.

This landscape set was designed to add color and a natural ambiance to a large master suite. The opalescent glass also cut down on the direct sunlight that overwhelmed the room late in the day. Each window is approx 5' across.
