This is a beautiful contemporary kitchen we remodeled. We raised the ceilings and removed the ceiling mounted upper cabinets to open up the space. The owners loved the look of a darker stained cherry cabinet which worked beautifully with a light colored Quartz counter top and complementary tile floors. We extended the sink side of the kitchen further into the living area which opened up the kitchen tremendously. A sky light allows natural light to filter into the kitchen from above in addition to the natural light provided by sliding glass doors in the living area. We ran the backsplash tile up to the ceiling behind the range as a lovely accent.

Rather than stop there, we reimagined the house’s layout, developed a series of unique interior and exterior interventions like reclaimed wood feature walls and a semi-private indoor/outdoor space, selected distinct, contemporary fixtures and finishes, and a completely reinvented the existing, unflattering facades. The coziest of cabins received a much needed kitchen remodel. Reworking the layout just a little bit opened up the space tremendously! New perimeter cabinets in an off white help brighten the space, while a homeowner heirloom was refurbished into a large, functional island with a new butcher block top.

Charcoal siding, with its tremendous range and adaptability, looks equally in the outdoors when coupled with materials that are fascinated by the landscape. The exterior is exquisite from Fiber Cement Lap Siding and Fiber Cement Shingle Siding which is complemented with white door trims and frieze board. The appeal of this charcoal grey siding as an exterior tint is its flexibility and versatility. Subtle changes in tone and surrounding frame may result in a stunning array of home designs!

New opening in dining room. The built-in oven and gas cook top proved to be a tremendous challenge to make fit. The tolerances were razor thin and it took a team effort to make this piece work together

West Seattle offers great views to Puget Sound and this house is no exception. It almost felt like we were in the water from the second and third floor. The bamboo floors were getting a tremendous amount of fading and the air conditioning was having a difficult time keeping up with the heat. We installed 3M Prestige 50 to keep the view and solve the problems from the sun.

This elegant master bath was a tremendous update for this Chicago client of ours! They didn't want the bathroom to be too "current" but instead wanted a look that would last a lifetime. We opted for bright whites and moody grays as the overall color palette, which pairs perfectly with the clean, symmetrical design. A brand new walk-in shower and free-standing tub were installed, complete with luxurious and modern finishes. Storage was also key, as we wanted the client to be able to keep their newly designed bathroom as organized as possible. A shower niche, bathtub shelf, and a custom vanity with tons of storage were the answer! This easy to maintain master bath feel open and refreshing with a strong balance of classic and contemporary design. Light and airy kitchen and great room renovation, with new "drop zone" for coats and shoes, vaulted ceilings, and plenty of space for greenery. This project was done on budget and on time, and the difference in space for the clients was tremendous. We used all GE Cafe Line Appliances in matte white with brass hardware. The cabinets are custom, and the pulls are Restoration Hardware in the Dover line.

I am so excited to finally share my Spring 2018 One Room Challenge! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Natasha Habermann. I am a full-time interior designer and blogger living in North Salem, NY. Last Fall, I participated as a guest in the Fall 2017 ORC and was selected by Sophie Dow, editor in chief of House Beautiful to participate as a featured designer in the Spring 2018 ORC. I've religiously followed the ORC for years, so being selected as a featured designer was a tremendous honor.

This is an example of what we can do for those who don't have acres of kitchen to work with. This space was a little tighter and narrower than many of the kitchens we show in our portfolio. The real challenge in kitchen design is to try and achieve maximum storage and functionality when space is limited. Creating a nice aesthetic when you have unlimited options and space is relatively easy to do. We're very proud of this "simple" project, because we know that the use of space has been improved tremendously. Plus, it looks fantastic!!!
