Inspiration for a mid-sized 1960s entryway remodel in Seattle with a medium wood front door

Vintage Tub & Bath supplied the farmhouse sink and brass bridge faucet. The window was recreated from vintage sashes found at Pasadena Architectural Salvage, which also supplied the brass cabinet hardware. Cabinets by Fernando's Building Materials in Cypress Park area of Los Angeles. Custom stain finish in Charcoal Blue.

The “V” pattern of the Fiberon Horizon Ipe deck boards creates an eye-catching floor design. Using the same composite deck boards as top rails provides a striking contrast to the Fiberon Horizon white posts and visually connects the space. The wide flat top rail also doubles as table-top dining. Add in the outdoor kitchen and lighting, and this deck is an impressive extension of the home. One of the best things about this outdoor space is that the decking and railing are low-maintenance Fiberon composites.

This expansive Victorian had tremendous historic charm but hadn’t seen a kitchen renovation since the 1950s. The homeowners wanted to take advantage of their views of the backyard and raised the roof and pushed the kitchen into the back of the house, where expansive windows could allow southern light into the kitchen all day. A warm historic gray/beige was chosen for the cabinetry, which was contrasted with character oak cabinetry on the appliance wall and bar in a modern chevron detail. At Velène Design House, we revived the home’s vintage charm, balancing original mid‑century elements, like stone fireplaces and wood paneling, with clean, contemporary lines, subtle traditional touches, and thoughtful textures. This mid‑century ranch remodel transformed a largely untouched 1960s home into a refined, family‑ready retreat.

The tops of those cupboards and counters were filled from corner to corner with ALL kinds of stuff. Condensing and editing helped to show off the irresitable granite counter tops and make this space feel a stylish and fresh.
