In the family room area, the white fireplace and wall create the perfect focal point for the television mounted above the mantle. In the fireplace we installed a gas insert. We also added wainscoting to camouflage the steel post columns, making them a seamless part of the room. We tore down the walls between four rooms to create this great room in Villanova, PA. And what a difference it makes! This bright space is perfect for everyday living and entertaining family and friends as the kitchen, eating and living areas flow seamlessly. With red oak flooring throughout, we used white and light gray materials and crown moulding to give this large space a cohesive yet open feel. We added wainscoting to the steel post columns. Other projects in this house included installing red oak flooring throughout the first floor, refinishing the main staircase, building new stairs into the basement, installing new basement flooring and opening the basement rooms to create another entertainment area. The family room fireplace also received a design update. The dated “hole-in-the-wall” TV storage above the fireplace now showcases a large flat screen TV viewable from the kitchen. The tiled fireplace surround was updated and the wood mantle was darkened to match the kitchen island and pantry woodwork. A rustic chic screen porch added incredibly living space to this home is East Cobb. Come inside and see how this upscale porch offers comfort, style and much more family space.

This gorgeous beach condo sits on the banks of the Pacific ocean in Solana Beach, CA. The previous design was dark, heavy and out of scale for the square footage of the space. We removed an outdated bulit in, a column that was not supporting and all the detailed trim work. We replaced it with white kitchen cabinets, continuous vinyl plank flooring and clean lines throughout. The entry was created by pulling the lower portion of the bookcases out past the wall to create a foyer. The shelves are open to both sides so the immediate view of the ocean is not obstructed. New patio sliders now open in the center to continue the view. The shiplap ceiling was updated with a fresh coat of paint and smaller LED can lights. The bookcases are the inspiration color for the entire design. Sea glass green, the color of the ocean, is sprinkled throughout the home. The fireplace is now a sleek contemporary feel with a tile surround. The mantel is made from old barn wood. A very special slab of quartzite was used for the bookcase counter, dining room serving ledge and a shelf in the laundry room. The kitchen is now white and bright with glass tile that reflects the colors of the water. The hood and floating shelves have a weathered finish to reflect drift wood. The laundry room received a face lift starting with new moldings on the door, fresh paint, a rustic cabinet and a stone shelf. The guest bathroom has new white tile with a beachy mosaic design and a fresh coat of paint on the vanity. New hardware, sinks, faucets, mirrors and lights finish off the design. The master bathroom used to be open to the bedroom. We added a wall with a barn door for privacy. The shower has been opened up with a beautiful pebble tile water fall. The pebbles are repeated on the vanity with a natural edge finish. The vanity received a fresh paint job, new hardware, faucets, sinks, mirrors and lights. The guest bedroom has a custom double bunk with reading lamps for the kiddos. This space now reflects the community it is in, and we have brought the beach inside.

In the basement, we installed a new home gym, with a rubber floor and full-length wall mirrors. We also installed new carpeting throughout the basement and painted. First home, savvy art owners, decided to hire RBD to design their recently purchased two story, four bedroom, midcentury Diamond Heights home to merge their new parenthood and love for entertaining lifestyles. Hired two months prior to the arrival of their baby boy, RBD was successful in installing the nursery just in time. The home required little architectural spatial reconfiguration given the previous owner was an architect, allowing RBD to focus mainly on furniture, fixtures and accessories while updating only a few finishes. New paint grade paneling added a needed midcentury texture to the entry, while an existing site for sore eyes radiator, received a new walnut cover creating a built-in mid-century custom headboard for the guest room, perfect for large art and plant decoration. RBD successfully paired furniture and art selections to connect the existing material finishes by keeping fabrics neutral and complimentary to the existing finishes. The backyard, an SF rare oasis, showcases a hanging chair and custom outdoor floor cushions for easy lounging, while a stylish midcentury heated bench allows easy outdoor entertaining in the SF climate. This was another fun project! All three surfaces/sides of the planks are stained in the selected gray stain colour prior to installation. One coat did the trick overall, yet due to the milling process a few boards received a second coating or a touch-up here and there. The challenge is to clear an open area to allow the stain to dry over-night while keeping the planks separate of each one. No Smudging!

Who wouldn’t want to sit in front of this fireplace? It was a honed black slate hearth, white tin surround and a reclaimed, old growth pine mantle. The wall behind it is covered in beadboard made from reclaimed timber pine. After tearing down this home's existing addition, we set out to create a new addition with a modern farmhouse feel that still blended seamlessly with the original house. The addition includes a kitchen great room, laundry room and sitting room. Outside, we perfectly aligned the cupola on top of the roof, with the upper story windows and those with the lower windows, giving the addition a clean and crisp look. Using granite from Chester County, mica schist stone and hardy plank siding on the exterior walls helped the addition to blend in seamlessly with the original house. Inside, we customized each new space by paying close attention to the little details. Reclaimed wood for the mantle and shelving, sleek and subtle lighting under the reclaimed shelves, unique wall and floor tile, recessed outlets in the island, walnut trim on the hood, paneled appliances, and repeating materials in a symmetrical way work together to give the interior a sophisticated yet comfortable feel. Inspiration for a transitional bedroom remodel in Minneapolis

This beautiful French Provincial home is set on 10 acres, nestled perfectly in the oak trees. The original home was built in 1974 and had two large additions added; a great room in 1990 and a main floor master suite in 2001. This was my dream project: a full gut renovation of the entire 4,300 square foot home! I contracted the project myself, and we finished the interior remodel in just six months. The exterior received complete attention as well. The 1970s mottled brown brick went white to completely transform the look from dated to classic French. Inside, walls were removed and doorways widened to create an open floor plan that functions so well for everyday living as well as entertaining. The white walls and white trim make everything new, fresh and bright. It is so rewarding to see something old transformed into something new, more beautiful and more functional.
