The family at this Roswell, Georgia retaining wall project wanted more functional space in their backyard. The property had failing cross-tie timber retaining walls which we removed, along with twenty-seven truckloads of dirt behind them, before installing five retaining wall systems in order increase the useable space between three and four times.

Twenty-five stories up in Times Square, New York sits the lavish Elsie's Rooftop, paying homage to society's doyenne and iconic actress, socialite, and interior decorator Elsie de Wolfe. The design of the lounge and terrace echoes de Wolfe’s own penchant for late-18th-century French design and her own private villa in Versailles. DMDesign & Architecture crafted the airy lounge 25 floors above Times Square in homage to the Roaring Twenties. Guests depart the elevator and are greeted by a mirrored hallway that reflects ceiling lights as it leads to the main room, which boasts high ceilings, antique mirrors, and a perimeter of gold walls. We were delighted to work on this project. The homeowner had 25 windows that needed to be replaced, and two patio doors. The homeowner had moved twenty-five times! They realized it was time to pick a forever home and make it perfect. That's where we came in! We pulled out all of their old aluminum and vinyl windows. We had the opportunity to pull out all of those vinyl windows, and replace them with custom windows that perfectly match the customer's Forever Home.

This thirty five by twenty foot room is expanded even more with fifteen foot ceilings and nine foot tall windows. Hand scraped hickory floors with custom millwork and trim painted in snowy pine make the exposed 1890's brick wall feel like they were made for one another. The granite rough cut stone fireplace with the refurbished marble mantel adds warmth and focus to this large room.

This award-winning and intimate cottage was rebuilt on the site of a deteriorating outbuilding. Doubling as a custom jewelry studio and guest retreat, the cottage’s timeless design was inspired by old National Parks rough-stone shelters that the owners had fallen in love with. A single living space boasts custom built-ins for jewelry work, a Murphy bed for overnight guests, and a stone fireplace for warmth and relaxation. This is an organic Lime Wash done with a true lime wash product as opposed to a brick mortar or concrete that is often seen on new houses. This product can be applied as a solid coating making the surface completely white, or can be applied and "washed off" in many artistic ways, as seen here. In 2002, no one had ever used the idea of motorizing a pocket window to open a Kitchen out to the patio. Ron's creativity is shown off here with the window he designed for the 2002 street of dreams. The opening provided when the windows are retracted is twenty feet wide and five feet high. Each side is motorized to retract back into pockets in the wall with the push of a button.

The option to downsize was not an option for the empty nesters who have lived in this home for over twenty-five years. Situated in TMR, the sprawling home has been the venue for many social events, dinner parties and family celebrations. With grown children living abroad, and grand children on the way, it was important that the new kitchen be highly functional and conducive to hosting informal, yet large family gatherings. The kitchen had been relocated to the garage in the late eighties during a large renovation and was looking tired. Eight foot concrete ceilings meant the new materials and design had to create the illusion of height and light. White lacquered doors and integrated fridge panels extend to the ceiling and cast a bright reflection into the room. The teak dining table and chairs were the only elements to preserve from the old kitchen, and influenced the direction of materials to be incorporated into the new design. The island and selected lower cabinetry are made of butternut and oiled in a matte finish that relates to the teak dining set. Oversized tiles on the heated floors resemble soft concrete. The mandate for the second floor included the overhaul of the master ensuite, to create his and hers closets, and a library. Walls were relocated and the floor plan reconfigured to create a luxurious ensuite of dramatic proportions. A walk-in shower, partitioned toilet area, and 18’ vanity are among many details that add visual interest and comfort. Minimal white oak panels wrap around from the bedroom into the ensuite, and integrate two full-height pocket doors in the same material.
