I updated the kitchen with new cabinet fronts and again kept the colors neutral to make the apartment feel bigger and open and airy. The thin shaker style on the cabinet looks updated and enhances the storage in here. The brass hardware keeps is delicate and warm. The pendant here are soft and to scale and just right. Never underestimate the power of a fresh coat of paint. On site painting of cabinets is not easy to pull off, but my team comes through.

Bedrooms are one of my favorite rooms in the home, a bedroom must be comfortable and serene. I design master bedrooms as a private retreat for my clients. Elements of a great bedroom include: -Foundation: Don’t underestimate the power of a great night’s sleep. Your matress is the most important element in the room. We have some tips below from Chicago Luxury Beds about how to select the right mattress for you. You’ll have to come by and see it for yourself, stay tuned for the opening in March. -Fabulous Sheets: I love Pratesi, they make the softest most luxurious bedding in the marketplace. -Bedding Toppers: Accent pillows, cashmere blankets or a colorful throw will pull your entire room together. -Create a Focal Point: Use a great wallcovering, window treatment, piece of art or fireplace. -Mix and Match Furniture: Bedroom sets are a thing of the past. I love creating full dressing rooms for my clients and keeping furniture within the bedroom suite more decorative. Don’t be afraid to mix and match to create an eclectic vibe. Upholstered headboards are still a strong trend and allow for a personal touch by mixing shapes, custom fabrics and trimmings. -Window Treatments: Don’t skimp on window treatments. Decorative panels add softness to the room while shades should be black-out lined to guarantee a good night’s rest. -Lighting: I believe there should be a combination of ambient and task lighting in the bedroom. A great chandelier should always be on a dimmer. Bedside lamps or sconces should be on dimmers as well but should be bright enough to read by. Partial gut and redesign of the Kitchen and Dining Room, including a floor plan modification of the Kitchen. Bespoke kitchen cabinetry design and custom modifications to existing cabinetry. Metal range hood design, along with furniture, wallpaper, and lighting updates throughout the first floor. Complete powder bathroom redesign including sink, plumbing, lighting, wallpaper, and accessories. When our clients agreed to the navy and brass range hood we knew this kitchen would be a showstopper. There’s no underestimated what an unexpected punch of color can achieve.

The client requested a room that would embellish a “middle of the woods” feel. We selected comanche beds in vintage black iron with black gunslinger culp leather insets by Old Biscayne to make this transformation. We added bead board wood to the ceiling with a natural finish for reflective properties adding coziness and charm. We selected a chest from John Richards that shouted “old country cottage” and it hit the mark. We searched and found a shag area rug comfortable on feet and resembling a cow hide formation to place between the two equestrian styled queen beds. It was from Walmart (Note to self: don’t underestimate the most unlikely places to find accessories and finish products.) We included Eastern Accents Sandrine Ecru cotton blend coverlets and soft down pillows to create a room that guests will hardly want to leave. The linens are my favorite by Jennifer Adams and will be a hit with anyone who experiences a night’s sleep on them. We topped it off with faux fur ottomans by Bernhardt to work as luggage racks and/or sitting spots for getting shoes, etc. on and off at the foot of each bed. The dust ruffles are ticking off black stripe fabric and were ordered through Grandin Road. The throw pillows were custom made by Boca Bargoons in North Palm Beach, Florida. (Well worth a visit if you are in the area. They have an extensive selection of high end fabrics at discounted prices and a professional work room that will create exceptional custom window treatments, upholstery and bedding/pillows.) The saddle leather mirror was selected by the client and ordered through Wisteria. It enhances the beauty of the John Richards Collection antique chest below it.The brushed silver stag lamp enhances the chest and accessories that belong to the client. The lamp is no longer available to purchase. This room encompasses many of my favorite things.
