A small, charming bathroom remodel featuring a wood window in the shower, a misplaced sconce, and a cluttered vanity with a plea to add much needed function and storage while maintaining the room’s vintage charm. Within the new design, the original arched detail, replicated in other places in the home, is preserved. Nearby, a newly added braided chevron recycled glass floor tile plays against the curves of the arch. Champagne brushed bronze fixtures contrast beautifully against wall tiles in varying shades of green laid vertically offering a handmade feel. Giving a nod to the home’s treasured history, a custom walnut vanity with antique glass knobs ties into the bathroom’s original green glass doorknob, offering deeper storage while accommodating an elongated tub. Adding modern convenience, a new medicine cabinet with built in lighting and interior power hangs above the vanity. Adjacent to the cabinet, a custom designed hanging shelf and towel bar maximize space. As a final touch, woven wallpaper softens the room’s hard surfaces, and a sculptural alabaster stone ceiling light provides a touch of elegance, transforming the space with function while paying homage to the home’s historic origins. Completed in 2020, this large 3,500 square foot bungalow underwent a major facelift from the 1990s finishes throughout the house. We worked with the homeowners who have two sons to create a bright and serene forever home. The project consisted of one kitchen, four bathrooms, den, and game room. We mixed Scandinavian and mid-century modern styles to create these unique and fun spaces.

Our Austin studio decided to go bold with this project by ensuring that each space had a unique identity in this Mid-Century Modern House casita. We chose colors, lines, and textures that reflect the classic mid-century design style.

When full-time Massachusetts residents contemplate building a second home in Telluride, Colorado the question immediately arises; does it make most sense to hire a regionally based Rocky Mountain architect or a sea level architect conveniently located for all of the rigorous collaboration required for successful bespoke home design. Determined to prove the latter true, Siemasko + Verbridge accompanied the potential client as they scoured the undulating Telluride landscape in search of the perfect house site. The selected site’s harmonious balance of untouched meadow rising up to meet the edge of an aspen grove and the opposing 180 degree view of Wilson’s Range spoke to everyone. A plateau just beyond a fork in the meadow provided a natural flatland, requiring little excavation and yet the right amount of upland slope to capture the views. The intrinsic character of the site was only enriched by an elk trail and snake-rail fence. Establishing the expanse of Wilson’s range would be best served by rejecting the notion of selected views, the central sweeping curve of the roof inverts a small saddle in the range with which it is perfectly aligned. The soaring wave of custom windows and the open floor plan make the relatively modest house feel sizable despite its footprint of just under 2,000 square feet. Officially a two bedroom home, the bunk room and loft allow the home to comfortably sleep ten, encouraging large gatherings of family and friends. The home is completely off the grid in response to the unique and fragile qualities of the landscape. Great care was taken to respect the regions vernacular through the use of mostly native materials and a palette derived from the terrain found at 9,820 feet above sea level. A perfect playroom space for two young girls to grow into. The space contains a custom made playhouse, complete with hidden trap door, custom built in benches with plenty of toy storage and bench cushions for reading, lounging or play pretend. In order to mimic an outdoor space, we added an indoor swing. The side of the playhouse has a small soft area with green carpeting to mimic grass, and a small picket fence. The tree wall stickers add to the theme. A huge highlight to the space is the custom designed, custom built craft table with plenty of storage for all kinds of craft supplies. Every home has a story to tell. These owners were searching for a unique pantry door when a family member gave them an old found door from their great grandparents’ Pennsylvania farmhouse. We found an Amish craftsman to restore the door, complete with an antique finish and new glass. Crystal doorknobs from an uncle’s home were added, along with antique hinges and hardware found at their parent’s farmhouse. Hung to be cherished in their new kitchen, where new memories will continue to be made for generations to come. ❤️? .
