Upon entering the living room is a de Kooning painting at the center of a large art wall flanked by two smaller angled walls framing a Rothko on one side and a Pollack on the other. This kitchen remodel has been 27 years in the making and was ready for an all-around update. During our first few meetings, our client had envisioned what drawers would house which items and really wanted the kitchen to accommodate more people whether for a simple meal or for multiple cooks during a celebratory gathering. The original kitchen did not have enough storage and the island did not allow for much seating space. Our client dreamed of a kitchen where she could cook and entertain her family and friends at the same time. An existing wall enclosing the kitchen was removed and another wall was extended to room for a wall of cabinetry while also allowing the space for a bigger island. Upon entering the kitchen, a base cabinet with beveled glass doors showcases the beautiful china that our client has collected throughout the years. The new kitchen is packed with appliances that allow our client to make the best usage of them. A 48” American Range Lenged Series rangetop and a 48” stainless steel hood by Windster form the heart of the kitchen. A stainless steel backsplash allows easy maintenance for our client who uses the kitchen so often. The new wall now starts with a desk/office area, a 30” American Range Legacy Series double wall oven, a 36” French door refrigerator, ice maker, wine refrigerator and beverage center. A mixer stand is located in the base cabinet of the island to save countertop space and a drawer bank allows for baking utensils. A prep sink is part of the island with a single trash to make cooking, prepping and cleaning an ease for multiple cooks. A microwave drawer is also available on the island. Easy access and once again keeping the countertop work space open and free. Storage is available at the seating area for seasonal items. The kitchen finishes were completely switched out as well. The new cabinetry consists of a Cherry species in the Nantucket door style by Crystal Cabinets. Cabinets were finished in a Cinnamon stain with black glazing in a distressed look with cracking and wearing. The surrounding cabinets have a leathered granite and a marble countertop for the island. The three-part crown was inspired by an armoire that has been with the family for a long period of time. Crystal knobs and cup style pulls provide the finishing touches to this beautiful and functional kitchen. These wonderful clients returned to us for their newest home remodel adventure. Their newly purchased custom built 1970s modern ranch sits in one of the loveliest neighborhoods south of the city but the current conditions of the home were out-dated and not so lovely. Upon entering the front door through the court you were greeted abruptly by a very boring staircase and an excessive number of doors. Just to the left of the double door entry was a large slider and on your right once inside the home was a soldier line up of doors. This made for an uneasy and uninviting entry that guests would quickly forget and our clients would often avoid. We also had our hands full in the kitchen. The existing space included many elements that felt out of place in a modern ranch including a rustic mountain scene backsplash, cherry cabinets with raised panel and detailed profile, and an island so massive you couldn’t pass a drink across the stone. Our design sought to address the functional pain points of the home and transform the overall aesthetic into something that felt like home for our clients. For the entry, we re-worked the front door configuration by switching from the double door to a large single door with side lights. The sliding door next to the main entry door was replaced with a large window to eliminate entry door confusion. In our re-work of the entry staircase, guesta are now greeted into the foyer which features the Coral Pendant by David Trubridge. Guests are drawn into the home by stunning views of the front range via the large floor-to-ceiling glass wall in the living room. To the left, the staircases leading down to the basement and up to the master bedroom received a massive aesthetic upgrade. The rebuilt 2nd-floor staircase has a center spine with wood rise and run appearing to float upwards towards the master suite. A slatted wall of wood separates the two staircases which brings more light into the basement stairwell. Black metal railings add a stunning contrast to the light wood. Other fabulous upgrades to this home included new wide plank flooring throughout the home, which offers both modernity and warmth. The once too-large kitchen island was downsized to create a functional focal point that is still accessible and intimate. The old dark and heavy kitchen cabinetry was replaced with sleek white cabinets, brightening up the space and elevating the aesthetic of the entire room. The kitchen countertops are marble look quartz with dramatic veining that offers an artistic feature behind the range and across all horizontal surfaces in the kitchen. As a final touch, cascading island pendants were installed which emphasize the gorgeous ceiling vault and provide warm feature lighting over the central point of the kitchen. This transformation reintroduces light and simplicity to this gorgeous home, and we are so happy that our clients can reap the benefits of this elegant and functional design for years to come.

We transformed an awkward bowling alley into an elegant and gracious kitchen that works for a couple or a grand occasion. The high ceilings are highlighted by an exquisite and silent hood by Ventahood set on a wall of marble mosaic. The lighting helps to define the space while not impeding sight lines. The new picture window centers upon a beautiful mature tree and offers views to their outdoor fireplace. The Peninsula offers casual dining and a staging place for dessert/appetizers out of the work zone.

This project is more than meets the eye! In a gorgeous neighborhood in Del Mar, San Diego, California, This unique small custom wine cellar truly acts as a showstopper. Originally within this house, the door which now faces outward used to be around the corner in a small hallway, virtually eliminating any visibility into this contemporary walk in custom wine cellar. Upon seeing the location of this space within the house, Gene Walder and the knowledgeable team at Vintage Cellars knew that to really take advantage of the room provided, (which is actually below the stairs), they needed to get rid of the original door and add a brand new one facing the main living space. Just a small feat in a series of unique custom features within this cellar! Here at Vintage Cellars, before any design takes shape, it is vital to understand what the clients wants and needs are based on their growing collection of wine. With a good idea of bottle sizes, shapes (some pinot noir bottles, for example have a wider bottom than a typical cabernet sauvignon bottle) and unique features desired, the team of wine cellar designers and wine cellar builders at Vintage Cellars are able to create a very special and desirable wine cellar for each client. The owners of this beautiful home collaborated heavily with the Vintage Cellars team in the design process of this rustic custom wine cellar - something that we aim to do with every project. The homeowners wanted to showcase some of their favorite Magnum sized bottles in a high reveal horizontal display row, directly on top of another area highlighting the best 750 ml's in their collection. This small custom wine room fills most of the left wall with single deep, individual bottle storage. Directly below this wine racking is room for wine case / wine bin storage. Centered within this wall is a nice space for opening and decanting wines with a gorgeous dark stone countertop and room for hanging wine glasses above. The opposite wall is filled floor to ceiling with label revealing horizontal display rows. Again, this type of feature is very desirable in recent years. Updated with new furnishings in the living room and a complete remodel in the bathroom, this home reflects the owner’s classic taste for comfortable settings and intricate details. Custom-made Norwalk Furniture® sofas, chairs, and ottoman rest upon a new bronze colored rug in the living room. Delicate blue toile was the inspiration for a peaceful master bedroom and bath remodel. Carrera marble tile flooring opens the space and creates an uplifting atmosphere, while the mix of herringbone and honeycomb tile in the shower allows for an interesting pattern display. Our clients wanted to turn their old dingy and small bathroom into a light and bright traditional space where they could not worry about aging as they came into their prime years. In order to do this, we moved the shower head to other side of the wall and made room for a large bench seat with decorative tile to keep it fun.. We added handicap bars and a shower wand as well as an incredible diagonal patterned shower tile design to focus on upon entering.

The Challenge When we first met with our clients, they had a number of dislikes about the master bathroom in their seasonal Bonita Springs home. While the space was palatial, it just didn’t function well for them. Furthermore, it didn’t reflect their sense of style. They wanted to update fixtures and finishes with a splash of color and redesign the large, cave-like shower to include additional drainage and ventilation. Our Solution Our design team concluded that a complete reconfiguration of the entire master bathroom was the best way to give our clients the functionality and open feel they envisioned. We removed the cumbersome center island and the built-in Jacuzzi in favor of a new focal point – a freestanding soaker tub – and created a new footprint for the shower. The new curbless double-headed shower design with floor-to-ceiling glass on three sides was guaranteed to provide the openness our clients were looking for. We raised the shower floor to match the main level and ran a large linear drain to move water quickly out of the shower. For the final touch, we installed floating quartz shower seats and his-and-hers niches for extra storage. In the toilet room, we installed a large double storage cabinet for linens and extra storage. We also installed separate his-and-hers vanities with floating dark wood cabinetry and quartz countertops, accented with stacked stone mosaic tile. We also added floating medicine cabinet mirrors and painted the bathroom walls in the striking blue color our clients selected to compliment the lively hues throughout their home. The Result Ultimately, the new layout brought our clients’ vision to life. With vibrant, updated finishes, the updated space was much more suited to their style. Since our clients only reside in Bonita Springs part of the year, we were also able to complete the project while they were away from home. The lake sits between Lake Michigan to the west and Lake Charlevoix to the east.

Our firm is currently undertaking a full-home interior renovation that reimagines the residence with elevated materials, thoughtful spatial planning, and modern luxury throughout. The transformation begins with a completely redesigned primary bathroom suite featuring elegant marble flooring, large-format porcelain wall tile, and new brass plumbing fixtures. The space is centered around a deep soaking tub with a 43-inch television mounted above, complemented by integrated surround sound to create a spa-like retreat that balances comfort and sophistication. Adjacent to the suite, the primary bedroom sitting area has been refreshed with new engineered wood flooring that flows seamlessly throughout the upper levels of the home. The space incorporates sculptural glass wall sconces, premium built-in cabinetry, a 63-inch television, and an entirely new furniture layout designed to enhance both relaxation and functionality. Two additional bathrooms on the top floor echo the home’s cohesive design language, utilizing porcelain floor and shower tile, newly installed cabinetry, and warm bronze hardware to create timeless yet durable spaces. Moving downstairs, the foyer makes an immediate statement with a six-foot grand chandelier composed of crystal and polished nickel, establishing a dramatic focal point upon entry. Engineered wood flooring runs throughout the kitchen and upper two levels, tying the home together with warmth and continuity. Most walls across these floors have been painted in Benjamin Moore 983 “Smokey Taupe,” while many of the ceilings feature “Silhouette” in a flat finish, adding subtle contrast and depth to the interiors. A difficult lot; a beautiful home. This is a narrow and oddly shaped lot, with a bluff to the rear as well as wetland issues. The client wanted a concept centered around a dramatic, formal great room with a barrel-vaulted ceiling and classical details. Outdoor living spaces needed to be created because of the tightness of the lot, and how the building needed to be located upon it.

For this project we were hired by a young couple to convert a dated duplex apartment into a modern loft-like space for their growing family. The apartment occupied the first and second floor of a building that originally was a series of row houses. The row houses had been combined to create a large apartment complex. the individual units lacked flow and were composed of many small rooms. The main stair connecting the two levels of the apartment was directly inside the entry. Because the stair could not be relocated we decided to make it a focal point. We removed the original stair and replaced it with a sculptural open oak stair with a glass guardrail. Beneath the stair we created an oak cabinet that acts as a landing spot for belongings upon entering the apartment. This foyer space created by this stair entity is separated from the kitchen/dining area by a floating wall. This was done to keep the space visually open when you enter the apartment and to create better flow. The wall shared with the stair acts as the rear wall of the kitchen which is completed by an island. The space segues into a dining area. One of the selling points of the apartment was an under utilized private patio space. The space was previously accessed by sliding glass doors in multiple rooms. By opening up the entire space, the kitchen dining area now has a strong connection to the outdoors and the renovated patio feels like part of the apartment’s floor area. The rest of the first floor is a large primary suite. The suite was designed with ample walk in closets, a small room for a baby’s crib and a large primary bath. The primary bath features a custom stone sink and shower bench. The second floor of the apartment features two bedrooms, a bathroom and a spacious living room with double height ceilings. By using a limited palette of materials and customized builtins we were able to create multiple uses in the existing living room while keeping a cohesive overall look. Walnut cabinetry paired with “Calcutta green" porcelain and black accents were used for the fireplace feature, large media/book shelf, and the wet bar.

These wonderful clients returned to us for their newest home remodel adventure. Their newly purchased custom built 1970s modern ranch sits in one of the loveliest neighborhoods south of the city but the current conditions of the home were out-dated and not so lovely. Upon entering the front door through the court you were greeted abruptly by a very boring staircase and an excessive number of doors. Just to the left of the double door entry was a large slider and on your right once inside the home was a soldier line up of doors. This made for an uneasy and uninviting entry that guests would quickly forget and our clients would often avoid. We also had our hands full in the kitchen. The existing space included many elements that felt out of place in a modern ranch including a rustic mountain scene backsplash, cherry cabinets with raised panel and detailed profile, and an island so massive you couldn’t pass a drink across the stone. Our design sought to address the functional pain points of the home and transform the overall aesthetic into something that felt like home for our clients. For the entry, we re-worked the front door configuration by switching from the double door to a large single door with side lights. The sliding door next to the main entry door was replaced with a large window to eliminate entry door confusion. In our re-work of the entry staircase, guesta are now greeted into the foyer which features the Coral Pendant by David Trubridge. Guests are drawn into the home by stunning views of the front range via the large floor-to-ceiling glass wall in the living room. To the left, the staircases leading down to the basement and up to the master bedroom received a massive aesthetic upgrade. The rebuilt 2nd-floor staircase has a center spine with wood rise and run appearing to float upwards towards the master suite. A slatted wall of wood separates the two staircases which brings more light into the basement stairwell. Black metal railings add a stunning contrast to the light wood. Other fabulous upgrades to this home included new wide plank flooring throughout the home, which offers both modernity and warmth. The once too-large kitchen island was downsized to create a functional focal point that is still accessible and intimate. The old dark and heavy kitchen cabinetry was replaced with sleek white cabinets, brightening up the space and elevating the aesthetic of the entire room. The kitchen countertops are marble look quartz with dramatic veining that offers an artistic feature behind the range and across all horizontal surfaces in the kitchen. As a final touch, cascading island pendants were installed which emphasize the gorgeous ceiling vault and provide warm feature lighting over the central point of the kitchen. This transformation reintroduces light and simplicity to this gorgeous home, and we are so happy that our clients can reap the benefits of this elegant and functional design for years to come.
