Simple & Elegant Wall Unit built in Espresso Rift cut Oak, Maple and polished chrome. Rift cut Oak has a very linear grain that telegraphs through a stained finish. I introduced the smooth surface of the Maple to give the eye a rest and the chrome base to accentuate a floating feeling by reflecting the floor. The A/V cabinets are framed in with a continual beveled top that dictates the angles of the floating shelves and crisp crown top. The reveals separating the doors and drawers are repeated and evenly placed in the large TV panel. They playfully mark the placement of the flat TV and echo the matching bar we built a few feet away on the adjacent wall.

Bringing a beautiful 20th century home to the 21st century while maintaining its character, the story of a young family’s vision.
Our project included updated fireplaces in the dining and living rooms, a new custom mantel, built-ins in the family room and a large new window seat with a pull out draw for toys &books. Our client wanted their foyer area to be welcoming and vibrant. Mission accomplished with two facing benches to ground the deep end of the entry along with new lighting, paint and area rug. The upholstery on the benches provided a place to echo the new colors of blue in the dining room. Our client moved away from the traditional green, red and beige color palate. Her desire was to push blues, yellows and greys. The beautiful blue grass cloth wall paper in the dining room inspired the color palate for the entire house. Past the entry hall is a three story stair case with a soft grey wall color running the entire length to unify the three levels. A wool sisal runner with a black border was added for a sharp contrast and to reinforce the path of travel to the upper levels.
Along with all the noticeable visual and architectural updates were important behind the scene ones. New recessed lighting, A/V throughout the home including 4 TV’s and Sonos music with remote cable, DVR and Sonos receivers and electronically operated shades controls.

At 19 Irving Avenue, the pool reads less like an afterthought and more like a quiet declaration of Joseph Eichler’s design philosophy. From the moment you step into the backyard, it becomes clear that this isn’t a traditional rectangular basin—it’s a geometric composition, shaped in a polygonal form that mirrors the home’s angular, forward-thinking architecture.
5
The lines of the pool echo the home’s V-shaped layout and parallelogram motifs, creating a visual rhythm that feels intentional from every vantage point. Rather than being set apart, the pool is pulled into the architecture itself—surrounded by walls of glass and adjacent living spaces that dissolve the boundary between inside and out. Reflections of sky, structure, and surrounding greenery constantly shift across its surface, making it feel alive within the composition.
There’s a certain restraint to it, too. It doesn’t try to overpower the setting or compete with the architecture. Instead, it acts as a calm, sculptural centerpiece, anchoring the outdoor terrace while reinforcing the home’s modernist language. It’s easy to imagine Eichler himself using this space not just for leisure, but as part of a larger experiment—testing how geometry, light, and water could come together to shape a new way of living.
In that sense, the pool isn’t just a feature—it’s part of the origin story. A subtle but powerful expression of the indoor-outdoor lifestyle that would go on to define Eichler communities across California.

AK4002: "The Pour" Skinny Rain
DESCRIPTION:
The light installation is a teardrop-shaped chandelier with deliciously unique lights that celebrate the fascinating nature of raindrops, where no drop is the same as the next. Each drop is hand-blown by artisans and intricately engineered to house the lighting strategy for the chandelier. When you see a light sculpture designed to increase the visual appeal of a room and define its luminous character, you stop on your way to admire it. It’s the case of the Raindrop chandelier known as “The Pour”, a modern light sculpture meant to illuminate and beautify its chosen location to create an architectural relationship with space. The drop itself is constructed of two parts: the brass screw cap, which houses the light, and the hand-blown crystal reflecting the light to create puddles on the floor below. To replicate the nature of raindrops, no two drops are blown identical. The name “The Pour” derives from the distinctive shape that the chandelier forms: an exaggeration of the dramatic motion of water pouring out of a carafe. Designed by forming a grid mimicking how puddles ripple outward in concentric circles, each teardrop is hung to brass pipes of varying lengths. Placed strategically on the grid, the teardrops lock into the mirrored base that fits seamlessly between the two existing columns. The mirrored base reflects the teardrops endlessly into the sky above and when lit. The chandelier echoes rain frozen in time with ephemeral puddles overlaid on the floor below.

Re-defining waterfront living with this complete custom build on Kahshe Lake. A combination of classic Muskoka style and modern interior features work well to create timeless elegance and a breathtaking result.
Spatial flow of this gorgeous 1 1/2 story home was expanded vertically with the addition of loft space, highlighting the view from above. Below, in the main living area, a grand stone fireplace leads the eye upward, and is an inviting and majestic centrepiece.
The open-concept kitchen boasts sleek maple cabinetry detailed with ‘twig’ hardware and thick slab white granite providing textural interest that balances the lake and forest elements.
A fresh neutral palette was chosen for the bedrooms to echo the serene nature of the lake, providing a setting for relaxation and calm.
We added functional and recreational space with the construction of two outbuildings – a bunkie/sleeping cabin and a land boathouse, as well as a custom, wrap around screened porch and Muskoka Room.

ELIMINATING ECHOS IN A LUXURY POOL HOUSE
Innovative & Unobtrusive Acoustic Treatments Engaged By WSDG-Brasil
BELO HORIZONTE, BRASIL: How do you keep your pool house from reverberating like a gymnasium? For the owners of a luxurious villa set amidst of one of Brasil’s most breathtaking landscapes, the views and the pastoral silence were priceless. A wide expanse of windows surrounding the infinite lap pool draw attention to the spectacular mountains and gardens framing this opulent weekend residence. Intrusive echoes of laughter and music were unacceptable.
The critical acoustical designs devised by WSDG Brasil for the villa’s home theater and other living spaces were inspired by the firms’ professional recording studio expertise. Inhibiting sound from invading or escaping sensitive listening areas is a WSDG specialty. The enclosed pool and spa area, however presented uniquely troubling waters. Especially challenging was the requirement that the acoustical treatments unobtrusively compliment the sumptuous custom finishes.
In addition to the 46’ long, 10’ wide lap pool, the 2100 sq. ft structure includes a gym, Jacuzzi and wet bar, bounded by three walls of double height windows. A movable glass sealing system was installed to maintain interior warmth during the cool, mountain region evenings. Prognosis? Warm, but noisy. Here, professional recording studio design techniques provided solutions. Each window, including an expansive skylight grid comprised of 24 individual 7’x5’motorized Italian glass panels, was fitted with two layers of Clearsorber™ Foil special micro-perforated transparent foil with 1” of air space separating the layers. Mounting the foil layers 2” below the glass skylight insured optimal sound absorption. Developed in Germany, these innovative translucent plastic sheets absorb medium and high frequency reverberation to resolve sonic reflection issues.
“We have hung panels of this material in front of glass windows in recording studios,” explains WSDG Brasil, GM Renato Cipriano. “They have proved very effective in helping us ‘tune’ rooms without obstructing views. Now they are proving equally helpful in this residential application.” The foil’s full transparency insures unimpeded views and eliminates traditional pool house reverberation. Happily, the product also serves as a UV ray filtering system.
Cipriano reports that special attention was also devoted to the pool house floor which is situated over a large machine room. “A number of generators, pumps and air conditioning units live beneath the pool,” he says. “Thanks to our acoustic treatments, they hum away doing their jobs without making their presence known to the guests.”
Morro do Chapeau was designed by celebrated Brasilian architect Eduarda Correa. The extensive A/V installation was designed and installed by Versao Brasileira, a leading Belo Horizonte-based high-end home theater specialist. “We have participated on a number of challenging projects with Versao Brasileira,” Cipriano concludes. “They are extremely knowledgeable and we welcome the opportunity to collaborated with them.”
