Even small spaces need great design. Container and small space gardens - decks, alcoves and patios are all great spots to "green" up with planted pots. Add color, texture and warmth to your small spaces - or drama to a large space - with a well-designed container. Birdbaths, fountains, troughs and more make great containers. Irrigation can be run to your containers or Oyas (water vessels) can be planted in the containers to provide irrigation and to keep your plants healthy.

Today the site of a contemporary, ranch-inspired community, this rustic landscape was once part of the largest silver-producing mining district in the U.S. It later supported an array of intensive, agricultural activities. From the gentle rise of tilled-rubble walls and the patterning of open meadow, to the remnants of sculpted earthworks, evidence of the site’s prior use abounds. Winding foot trails allow visitors to experience panoramic views of the timbered landscape and structural features reminiscent of the historic ranch, including the large, wooden water trough that serves as a central focal point of the property. The design of the current landscape celebrates this juxtaposition of past and present; it revels in its contemporary context while embracing a historically minded design intent and honoring its latent history through selected materials and textures. The result of this mindful effort is an expression of thoughtful transition from the bygone, ranch of yesterday to a modern-day interpretation of the agrarian homestead. This modern, custom Swimspa is finished in stainless steel and blue tile trim. It features three water features; two fountains that spill over their troughs into the pool and one, large sheeting waterfall.

This contemporary loft style home featured exposed tresses throughout the entire exterior space in the ceiling. The design challenge was how are we going to get a water fall into the pool with a cover lid? The answer, we had to span the pool with a trough and suspend a 30 foot tray of water. We then used the tension rods in the structure to keep the structure centered. This allowed us to create a water fall that could be viewed from the main entry of the home. In addition, we designed a slot of fire in the ground -- the same length of the water feature. This is the true focal point that can be viewed through the shimmery view of the water.

For this backyard remodel we eliminated a thirsty lawn and added a multi-use patio. The industrial style patio structure includes a waterproof corrugated roof, steel ceiling fan and speakers with Wi-Fi. Privacy plantings, a cool water feature and a relaxing outdoor bathtub complete the garden. This yard is perfect for someone who wants to live outdoors all year long.
