If your idea of a cabin is an elegant home for family living and entertaining, The Peekskill is for you. A stunning center dormer with arched window embellishes the exterior of this Craftsman style home with walkout basement. The home offers an attractive and beautiful angled floor plan that provides an inviting courtyard setting.
The dormer’s arched window allows light into the foyer with built-in niche. The second floor’s hall is a balcony that overlooks both foyer and great room. A generous back porch extends the great room, which features an impressive vaulted ceiling and fireplace, while a tray ceiling adorns the formal dining room.
The master bedroom, which has a tray ceiling as well, enjoys back porch access, a built-in cabinet, generous walk-in closet, and private bath. Two more bedrooms are located upstairs, while a fourth can be found in the basement along with a family room. Note the huge 575 sq. ft. bonus room over the three car garage.

The house was built in reverse from the plans.
Shed dormers over the garage are for a bonus room. This expansion is but one feature that has made this house plan a popular one.

A ‘‘CHALET’’ THAT COMBINES ALL OF THE BEST FEATURES
By adding the stature of plan # 3925 (see our website to review plan 3925) to the original design, plan 3923, this version offers a double garage with an impressive bonus storage space above and an interior that has been modified for the addition of
several amenities.
Inside, beyond the foyer, the cathedral ceiling adds to the open feeling of the great room which is enhanced by 9’ ceilings throughout the main floor. The dining room from plan 3923 has become a kitchen with an island and a dining area that offers a delightful view from the windowed projection onto the back.
Another feature is the separate laundry area on the main floor that adds to the ‘livability’ of this plan.
Few changes have been made upstairs where there are two additional bedrooms, a full bathroom and a mezzanine that can be used for a computer or reading corner.
If you are looking for more, check out plan 3925 (on our website) which is similar but includes additional features that may be just what you are looking for!

Our homeowner had dreamt about one day redoing her beyond outdated kitchen since they day her husband carried her over the threshold. Vinyl flooring used for a backsplash, dingy carpeting, laminate with no sheen left to speak of and mismatched cabinetry…. it was time to make it happen. A year’s worth of planning later, her time capsule became one dreamy kitchen.
Functionality reigns supreme in this small, but efficient kitchen where every cabinet has a story to tell and a place to store it. Countertop space to the right of the stove was an added necessity for function and safety. The raised snack bar is perfect for day to day meals and the lowered countertop was a must for this petite baker. A new lighting plan includes recessed lights, under-cabinet and accent lights, while new lighting fixtures reflect the client’s sense of style. Dingy brick patterned carpet was removed making way for new hardwood floors toothed in from the dining room.
An airy palette gained some weight with the use of larger details; the oversized hood, beefy turned posts, prominent apron front sink and a grouping of tall cabinets on the refrigerator wall. Glass cabinet fronts, shiny beveled subway tile, and granite countertops allow light to dance around the space.

The original layout of this bathroom underutilized the spacious floor plan and had an entryway out into the living room as well as a poorly placed entry between the toilet and the shower into the master suite. The new floor plan offered more privacy for the water closet and cozier area for the round tub. A more spacious shower was created by shrinking the floor plan - by bringing the wall of the former living room entry into the bathroom it created a deeper shower space and the additional depth behind the wall offered deep towel storage. A living plant wall thrives and enjoys the humidity each time the shower is used. An oak wood wall gives a natural ambiance for a relaxing, nature inspired bathroom experience.

New Additions to Hoover + Hill
This project is a continuation of the renovation and updating work Flavin Architects had previously completed at the 1958 Wales house, designed by architect Henry Hoover and Walter Hill. Our clients, a young family, desired more space for guests, a home office, a yoga studio, and covered car parking. The challenge was to respect the architects’ original vision and not to interfere with the perfect cruciform plan of the house. To accomplish these goals, we converted the existing garage/workshop structure into a guest house and then designed a new, separate carport/storage building.
The new carport building shares the low-slope gable of the original Hoover structure. The post and beam structure characteristic of Hoover’s design is updated through the use of galvanized steel posts and I beams. The galvanized beams cantilever to support a sheltered walkway leading from the parking to a guest house terrace defined in relationship to the three structures surrounding it. The terrace is paved in slate with a central rain garden. Wood lattice clads the carport, providing good ventilation and letting the building glow like a lantern at night. Our guest house renovation celebrates the unique structural timber ceiling of the original garage. We replaced opaque plywood trusses with a slender cable truss structurally engineered by Webb Structural Services. This cable truss allows for a view of the timber ceiling. A wall of glass facing the courtyard replaced the original garage door. A murphy bed in the rear room enables quick conversion from guest quarters to weight room.
