This bedroom creates a relaxing space to read the paper and wind down. The subtle gray color palette is perfectly accented with pops of coral to add personality to the space. Who wouldn't love to end the day with a cup of tea in their relaxing master-suite?

Once apon a time I was a scary basement located in a congested section of Cambridge MA. My clients and I set out to create a new space inspired by France that could also double as a guest room when needed. Painting the existing wood joists and adding bead board in between the joists and painting any exposed pipes white celebrates the ceiling rather than trying to hide it keeps the much needed ceiling height. Italian furniture, books and antique rug gives this once basement a very European well travelled feel.

A Sitting Room isn't a luxury that everyone has, so we made sure to make this room extra special. The cool colors of the furniture are perfectly complimented with the hints of pink in the flowers and pillows. The natural light is quite the perfect backdrop for this stylish and serene space!

This Dining Room is the perfect space to entertain the most eloquent of guests. From its a navy-blue tuxedo chairs to its floor to ceiling drapery, this space exudes luxury. Gold accents in the chandelier and sculpture are the perfect pieces of jewelry for this well-groomed Dining Room.

We used elements of wood and steel to design the staircase’s banister, drawing inspiration from Japanese swords. Our client -who prefers being barefoot- wanted the treads and risers to be carpeted. We opted for slate flooring in the entryway which elegantly transitions into the distressed hickory of the living room. Three niches were built beneath the stairway to feature some artifacts.

Create interesting vignettes on your tables that set a scene and draw viewers in incredibly important. We like to use three elements—florals, lights and a 3-D object—to give our centerpieces depth. This one pairs florals with candles and a gorgeous vintage sculpture.

Our goal on this project was to create a live-able and open feeling space in a 690 square foot modern farmhouse. We planned for an open feeling space by installing tall windows and doors, utilizing pocket doors and building a vaulted ceiling. An efficient layout with hidden kitchen appliances and a concealed laundry space, built in tv and work desk, carefully selected furniture pieces and a bright and white colour palette combine to make this tiny house feel like a home. We achieved our goal of building a functionally beautiful space where we comfortably host a few friends and spend time together as a family.

The perfect way to add character to a Great Room is by incorporating accessories from your travels, and that is exactly what we did here. Adding pops of color in the floral arrangement and vintage finds makes for a well-designed space that is still comfortable.

Capturing a serene moment in the most-used room in the house is no easy task, but we managed to do so in this Great Room. Simply gazing at the beautiful floral arrangement or the vintage console while seated comfortably on the sofa is a perfect way to relax with a glass of wine.

Two years in the making this landscape creates a private space filled with formal gardens and ornaments. From the multilevel front entry beds, to the gardens surrounding the lawn, to the stunning rear design, the entire space is incredible. The rear terrace features a pool, outdoor kitchen, 3 levels separated by stone walls and stairs, a distant terrace at the top of a bluff that offers an unobstructed lake view, and pergola that highlights a stone statue. “Just as described, there is an edgy, irreverent vibe here, but the result has an appropriate stature and seriousness. Love the overscale windows. And the outdoor spaces are so great.”
Situated atop an old Civil War battle site, this new residence was conceived for a couple with southern values and a rock-and-roll attitude. The project consists of a house, a pool with a pool house and a renovated music studio. A marriage of modern and traditional design, this project used a combination of California redwood siding, stone and a slate roof with flat-seam lead overhangs. Intimate and well planned, there is no space wasted in this home. The execution of the detail work, such as handmade railings, metal awnings and custom windows jambs, made this project mesmerizing.
Cues from the client and how they use their space helped inspire and develop the initial floor plan, making it live at a human scale but with dramatic elements. Their varying taste then inspired the theme of traditional with an edge. The lines and rhythm of the house were simplified, and then complemented with some key details that made the house a juxtaposition of styles.
The wood Ultimate Casement windows were all standard sizes. However, there was a desire to make the windows have a “deep pocket” look to create a break in the facade and add a dramatic shadow line. Marvin was able to customize the jambs by extruding them to the exterior. They added a very thin exterior profile, which negated the need for exterior casing. The same detail was in the stone veneers and walls, as well as the horizontal siding walls, with no need for any modification. This resulted in a very sleek look.

The dining space -which is part of the open kitchen- is somewhat compact. We intentionally placed the client’s original dining table and benches against the far wall. To give depth, we designed an oversized mirror. The table now appears to be piercing through the wall. Grasscloth wall covering adds character and warmth while the chandelier infuses a calm an whimsical feel.
