Key Features & Solutions: Acoustic & Visual Comfort: Extensive use of vertical wood-slatted panels not only adds warmth and visual height to the space but also significantly improves the acoustic quality of the open-plan areas. Smart Space Planning: Frameless glass partitions with frosted linear decals were strategically used to divide private meeting rooms and executive offices. This ensures acoustic privacy while allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the workspace. Employee Well-being: A fully equipped, ergonomic kitchenette and dining area was designed using calming taupe tones and durable materials, providing a comfortable space for staff breaks. Strictly modern, the new design respectfully explores building structures & materials found in the area to complement the neighbourhood while creating a modern original with unique sculptural aesthetics. Emphasis was also put on creating a technical configurations to support the wellbeing, as well as economical outcome, for maintaining & operating the building – to name a few: lots of natural light & cross ventilation; walls and roof with long-lasting cool metal paneling; breathable wall membranes; continuous insulation; HRV; smart technologies to control lighting, heating & cooling and to monitor energy consumption.

This project involved the construction of a large circular deck at a confidential federal headquarters, designed to enhance employee wellness and outdoor engagement. The deck functions as a relaxing park-like space where employees can step outside, walk, and enjoy a break in a natural setting. A second large circular walking deck was also constructed to encourage movement throughout the workday, providing a functional and inviting space for daily activity. Together, these outdoor elements support well-being while maintaining discretion and simplicity appropriate for a federal facility.

Natural light is always very important in our projects. It creates the atmosphere and comfort - so important for our wellbeing. The extension height had to be reduced at the boundary as a planning requirement. We took it as an opportunity to bring more natural light in, but introducing a minimal, continuous skylight.

A walk-in, curbless, door-less shower replaced the tub. Grab bars were added to enhance safety. Beveled Brick & White Ice subway tiles were used on the shower walls. Bohemia basket-weave mosaic tile was used for the seat and shower floor. Both clients' expressed a sense of greater well-being thanks to the safety measures included!
