This gorgeous home was featured in Northern Virginia Magazine. Even though it was horribly dated when we started, we saw tremendous potential! We started with Craftsman-like molding, and envisioned warm white walls and rich dark wood floors. Lots of texture through wallcoverings, window treatments and rich wool rugs transformed this grand home into a stunning project.

The primary bedroom and bathroom are the showstoppers of this phase! Unused and awkwardly located closets in both the bedroom and bathroom were removed to make way for additional square-footage in the bath and replaced with a sizable and functional reach-in closet in the bedroom. A dated and cramped shower stall was removed in favor for an expansive step in shower spanning the width of the bathroom and a new transom window washes the room in natural light. While the previous bathroom was only able to accommodate a single vanity, the new layout allowed us to create double matching vanities mirrored across from each other - a much appreciated addition for a primary bath. Floating walnut vanities boast impressive storage and are capped with tower cabinets with hidden outlets for charging and storing electronic bathroom tools. While the color palette is restrained - black, white, gray, and brown - the result is a timelessly modern and masculine space that is at once striking and warm. Modern geometric patterns play with each other throughout the material selections.

The kitchen needed up dating and the client wanted a food preparation/eating area island. The wall between the breakfast room and kitchen was removed in order to create the island. New green cabinets, finishes, energy efficient appliances, lighting, and furniture were part of the renovation package.

Available interior width for a TV is 33″. Cabinet measures 36″ x 36″ x 54″ high. It has a 39″ wide face at the top with 8-1/2″ returns left & right.

The owners of this 1958 mid-century modern home desired a refreshing new master bathroom that was open and bright. The previous bathroom felt dark and cramped, with dated fixtures. A new bathroom was designed, borrowing much needed space from the neighboring garage, and allowing for a larger shower, a generous vanity with integrated trough sink and a soaking tub.

Sitting behind a 1920's original home, The West Adams Duplex is a contemporary take on the craftsman style. A typological volume, in the same accent color of the main house, sits atop a sturdy stucco base. Board and batten, alternating widths on the flat planes and accentuating the windows with extra thickness, embrace the neighborhood’s long-standing signature look without looking dated. The design emphasises the use of outdoor space by disguising parking spaces as outdoor hangout spots and decks as sun porches. A little multi-family compound complete with a very Southern California citrus tree.
