Mid-sized elegant home office photo in Los Angeles

Every writer needs a library. We layered her vintage rug with a reindeer hide she brought home from Iceland. The shelves and side table are from Anthropologie, bench from Organic Modernism. The chair is from Article. The ottoman is from etsy, pillow from World Market. The painting by our client's uncle, rotates on a dial and can be positioned in any orientation.

Our client is a writer, and wanted to an inspired space free of clutter. Her vintage silk rug paired beautifully with a desk from ABC Home, which has a beautiful view of the foothills. Her comfy chair got a fuzzy coat. We painted the walls with freedom and intuition. The lamps were sourced from Dutton Brown and Anthropologie. The vintage typewriter belonged to our client's grandfather.

This project won in the 2013 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Housing Excellence Award for Best Urban Renewal Renovation Project. The glass bowl was made in the glass studio owned by the owner which is adjacent to the residence. The mirror is a repurposed window. The door is repurposed from a boarding house. George Mendel

This project reimagines an under-used back yard in Portland, Oregon, creating an urban garden with an adjacent writer’s studio. Taking inspiration from Japanese precedents, we conceived of a paving scheme with planters, a cedar soaking tub, a fire pit, and a seven-foot-tall cedar fence. This built in, original to the house, was painted a neutral color to work with the rest of the house. New lighting, glass shelves and a glass top for the computer area were installed. Custom red drapes adorn the window and the writer's desk chair is made from woven leather.

Dining room - transitional dining room idea in Burlington

A part extension and renovation project done for the Centre for vernacular Architecture demanded the construction of a first floor and terrace study over an existing 30-year-old, load-bearing brick structure. Composite wall construction was adopted to create texture internally and externally while not over-loading the existing ground floor walls. A simple wire-cut brick cladding over the ground floor facade helped tie the old and new construction. Leather finished Kota floor, refurbished antique doors & windows, handmade Athangudi tiles, stained glass shutters and numerous display areas were put together to reflect the strong and distinct personality of our clients who are extensive travelers, writers and hoarders.
