This is a sculpture of the Nordic Myth, "Jormangundr". The serpent grew so large that it was able to surround the earth and grasp its own tail. As a result, it received the name of the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent. When it releases its tail, Ragnarök will begin. Jörmungandr's arch-enemy is the thunder-god, Thor.

As part of a collaboration project, Blank and Cables worked with archetects, designers and the Bardessono Hotel and Spa to create this large stone wheels that act as a centerpiece for the courtyard. Exterior grade art element is permanently installed into backyard niche. Replacing a failing ceramic installation, the piece adds a crisp graphic element to this backyard design. Playing on the concept of "home as nest," the piece offers the homeowner a new view in the niche while making a cohesive material connection with the surrounding brick.
