Our clients found us on Instagram and wanted to discuss creating an outdoor space at their historic colonial home in Wayland. With the house having so much character, the garden needed a boost. We wanted to keep the design period correct and functional. We chose to use reclaimed granite previously salvaged from the streets of Boston. With subtle grade changes, and proper drainage, we were able to create an outdoor room that our clients can enjoy for years to come. As the first new home constructed on Lake of the Isles, Minneapolis in over 50 years, this contemporary custom home stands as the “Gateway” to the historic parkway that encircles the lake. The clean lines and Bauhaus feel bring an architectural style that previously didn’t exist in this truly eclectic neighborhood. The homeowners wanted our help to transform their new penthouse condo in Portland into a home that was as comfortable as their East Coast residence of 20 years. To add warmth and style, we installed 6" wood base and dramatic colors on the walls. We also custom designed the fireplace cabinet to both hide equipment and add a strong architectural element to the previously generic "white-box" space.
