Housed atop a sand dune overlooking a crescent shaped beach, this updated innovative shingle style home replaced an existing vacation home our clients purchased a number of years ago. Significantly upgrading what was previously there, the single characteristic they wanted to maintain was a curved glass element that made the home distinctly identifiable from the beach. The height of the dune is unique for the area and well above flood plane which permits living space on all three levels of the home. Choreographed to fit within the natural landscape, guests entering the home from the front porch are immediately greeted with stunning views of the ocean. Delicate wood paneling and textural details are illuminated by abundant natural light flooding the home. A joyful life in 84 sq. ft. This has been my full time home for the past 8 years and I could not be happier. My previous home was 3,500 sq. ft. and I do not miss it. There's tremendous joy and contentment that comes with a simple life and a tiny, simple home.

Brunswick Parlour transforms a Victorian cottage into a hard-working, personalised home for a family of four. Our clients loved the character of their Brunswick terrace home, but not its inefficient floor plan and poor year-round thermal control. They didn't need more space, they just needed their space to work harder. The front bedrooms remain largely untouched, retaining their Victorian features and only introducing new cabinetry. Meanwhile, the main bedroom’s previously pokey en suite and wardrobe have been expanded, adorned with custom cabinetry and illuminated via a generous skylight. At the rear of the house, we reimagined the floor plan to establish shared spaces suited to the family’s lifestyle. Flanked by the dining and living rooms, the kitchen has been reoriented into a more efficient layout and features custom cabinetry that uses every available inch. In the dining room, the Swiss Army Knife of utility cabinets unfolds to reveal a laundry, more custom cabinetry, and a craft station with a retractable desk. Beautiful materiality throughout infuses the home with warmth and personality, featuring Blackbutt timber flooring and cabinetry, and selective pops of green and pink tones. The house now works hard in a thermal sense too. Insulation and glazing were updated to best practice standard, and we’ve introduced several temperature control tools. Hydronic heating installed throughout the house is complemented by an evaporative cooling system and operable skylight. The result is a lush, tactile home that increases the effectiveness of every existing inch to enhance daily life for our clients, proving that good design doesn’t need to add space to add value.

In what was previously the master ensuite (now the bathroom for the young son), the homeowners wanted a bathroom that was appropriate for as a 5-year old, but contemporary enough to be relevant as he grew up. The flexible sink will bend with pressure and the tilting mirror can be moved as he grows. With only one painted wall and movable cabinets, his current favorite colors can easily change as his tastes change.

Our client hired us to renovate their yard that had an old patio that was installed incorrectly years previous. They wanted as maintenance free as possible but with a definite budget in mind. Lastly, they wanted to begin to grow a lot of vegetables at home and therefore wanted some raised cedar planters to suit their needs. We utilized rundle for the bedding areas and concrete edges for ease of maintaining the property in their retirement years. Great project!!

This beautiful room was created for a young preteen girl entering middle school. She previously had a pink room that she had outgrown. She loves turquoise and is an avid swimmer, so this Pbteen quilt color "pool" was fitting. The area rug is gorgeous and served as our starting point. Her parents wanted a budget-friendly, but stylish bedroom that would serve her for several years. I am located in the metro Atlanta area and open to new business. This house west of Boston was originally designed in 1958 by the great New England modernist, Henry Hoover. He built his own modern home in Lincoln in 1937, the year before the German émigré Walter Gropius built his own world famous house only a few miles away. By the time this 1958 house was built, Hoover had matured as an architect; sensitively adapting the house to the land and incorporating the clients wish to recreate the indoor-outdoor vibe of their previous home in Hawaii. The house is beautifully nestled into its site. The slope of the roof perfectly matches the natural slope of the land. The levels of the house delicately step down the hill avoiding the granite ledge below. The entry stairs also follow the natural grade to an entry hall that is on a mid level between the upper main public rooms and bedrooms below. The living spaces feature a south- facing shed roof that brings the sun deep in to the home. Collaborating closely with the homeowner and general contractor, we freshened up the house by adding radiant heat under the new purple/green natural cleft slate floor.
