This relaxing suite is the perfect getaway after a long day at the beach. The white bed is soft and luxurious, while the mosquito net covering over the canopy bed creates privacy and the cozy feeling of being in your own tropical nest. We used deep blues for the throw pillows and ebony furniture to add contrast without interrupting the zen design. The natural finishes used throughout the house are continued in this room and seen in the teak sliding glass doors, woven blinds, and natural log lamps. The beach aesthetic is also carried into this bedroom with the use of sea shells, a woven sea urchin candle holder, and woven baskets.

When Carl’s was called on to transform a Manasquan, NJ home from top to bottom, our team responded emphatically to the challenge. Here’s a quick look at this complete Manasquan makeover.
Weatherproof Roofing
Carl’s installed an Owen’s Corning watertight roofing system designed to outlast the harshest elements of all four seasons. Owens Corning is known as a top-quality manufacturer, with roofing materials lasting up to 20 years and capable of withstanding up to 80 mph winds.
Cedar-Impressed Siding
Vinyl siding with cedar impressions serves the dual purpose of being both stylish and easy to manage.
Seamless Gutters
5” seamless gutters reduce the need for ongoing maintenance, as they do not need to be cleaned frequently like other types of gutters do. They are also minimally invasive of the home’s unique design and character.
Energy-Efficient Andersen Windows
New windows don’t just look sparkly and clean; they can also go a long way toward lowering your monthly energy bill. Carl’s installed energy-efficient windows from Andersen, the largest window manufacturer in North America. The homeowners will benefit from reduced home heating and cooling costs for years to come.
Front Storm and Sliding Doors
Front storm doors and back sliding doors were matched to the homeowners’ tastes in design.
Low-Maintenance Decking
There’s no better place to be in spring and summer than on your own private deck. This home’s decking is made from WOLF Tongue & Groove Porch material, which is durable, visually pleasing, and low-maintenance all at once.
Vinyl Fencing
Lastly, vinyl fencing around the home’s exterior brings the full renovation together with a final touch of curb appeal.

The 800 square-foot guest cottage is located on the footprint of a slightly smaller original cottage that was built three generations ago. With a failing structural system, the existing cottage had a very low sloping roof, did not provide for a lot of natural light and was not energy efficient. Utilizing high performing windows, doors and insulation, a total transformation of the structure occurred. A combination of clapboard and shingle siding, with standout touches of modern elegance, welcomes guests to their cozy retreat.
The cottage consists of the main living area, a small galley style kitchen, master bedroom, bathroom and sleeping loft above. The loft construction was a timber frame system utilizing recycled timbers from the Balsams Resort in northern New Hampshire. The stones for the front steps and hearth of the fireplace came from the existing cottage’s granite chimney. Stylistically, the design is a mix of both a “Cottage” style of architecture with some clean and simple “Tech” style features, such as the air-craft cable and metal railing system. The color red was used as a highlight feature, accentuated on the shed dormer window exterior frames, the vintage looking range, the sliding doors and other interior elements.
