This is a split-level home, so there were limited aesthetic options in the entryway. The landing is presented upon entering and the choice to go up or down stairs must be made immediately.

This wonderfully stunning backyard is a sight for sore eyes, as it seems to beckon “Welcome, please come on in.” At the rear of this outdoor living space is a step-up hot tub that easily holds a entire family of eight. The upper level deck is actually two decks in one. The upper tier – decked out with hardwood floor, columns and black metal rail posts, serves as an outdoor dining room, outdoor living room and outdoor kitchen. The lower tier is a rain deck, completely protected from weather elements above. A slate patio sets the stage for this all natural rock and boulder firepit.

AFTER: Our design includes a new entryway gabled roof along with a combination a shake and lap siding, cultured stone, Pella craftsman style garage/entry doors and Pella 450 Series Casement windows with decorative flower boxes below.

This low maintenance two level deck is located in Scotch Plains, NJ. The decking is Trex Transcends in their Tiki Torch color. The railing is TimberTech Traditional Walnut. The lower deck features an open layout with angled stairs to the yard and pool patio. The upper deck features a grilling area and access to the side yard.

Front Yard The original 1950s split level was expanded and completely reworked. A front porch was added, siding and stone are new, as are all the windows. The substantial addition at the rear of the home is barely visible here--the only hint being that the main ridge is a little higher from this point of view. Landscaping is new. The front yard tree was protected and preserved through the construction period. At twilight the house comes aglow with warmth. The remodel welcomes a covered front porch that was absent in the original. To the right of the front door is a tiny window allowing peek-a-boo views of guest arrivals from inside the daughter's closet. Planters surrounding the home are made from raw sheet steel. Garage doors are clad in metal. These Leander clients were looking for a big deck upgrade in a tight space. They longed for better usability of their outdoor living area by way of a dual-level, low-maintenance deck. On each level, they wished for particular accommodations and usage. A gathering area on the upper level and a hot tub on the lower. The result is a tidy Leander TX deck with room to move!

The client wanted a deck to be connected to the rest of the yard and transition to the upper deck 10ft of grade to the patio on grade. The centrally located circular kitchen area services both the patio and the upper deck and gives lots of options whether it’s just the family or a party for 50. Minimizing rails and stairs during the transition from the upper deck to the lower deck on grade was critical to the clients. Adding the kitchen to the project without obstructing the view out the rear patio doors was also an important request from the client. The WOLF PVC Black Walnut accents and fascia really sets off the Driftwood field. Dutch Quality weathered ledge stone was used in the kitchen with a granite counter. Custom welded aluminum rails and EP Henry Bristol pavers are also featured. The built in flower beds extend the feel of the patio area and allow for plantings to be added. This project turned an unusable back yard and disconnected elevated deck into cohesive multi-level living space.

The original multiple decks and elevated patio blocked the pool and fractured the space. This design creates an elegant progression from the home’s interior to poolside. The wide stairs oriented towards the pool provide pool views from the entire deck. The interior level provides for relaxed seating and dining with the magnificence of nature. The descent of a short group of stairs leads to the outdoor kitchen level. The barbeque is bordered in stone topped with a countertop of granite. The outdoor kitchen level is positioned for easy access midway from either the pool or interior level. From the kitchen level an additional group of stairs flow down to the paver patio surrounding the pool. Also incorporated is a downstairs entry and ample space for storage beneath the deck sourced through an access panel. The design connects the interior to poolside by means of a rich and functional outdoor living design.

This awesome three level deck comes complete with it's own bluestone turret and gas fire feature. The elevated bluestone decking adds an unexpected natural texture; the mood of the setting is open air. The circular seating around the fire allows for conversation or quiet reflection. The outdoor kitchen was added to streamline entertaining, while answering the need for everyday convenience. EP Henry stone veneer topped with black granite countertops craft a rich kitchen setting likened to an upscale indoor design. The kitchen is complete with a Viking Grille, sink with a built in cutting board and built in storage. The island bar is built to party.
