This charming Lyon Park house was built in 1925, when the typical kitchen was small, modest and closed-off from the rest of the home. For a family that loves to cook and bake, the cramped, outdated and dysfunctional kitchen was a source of constant frustration. Our new design expanded the kitchen into an adjacent sunroom, opening it up to the rest of the home and creating a spacious, light and updated kitchen that now serves as the heart of the home. We more than doubled the amount of countertop space and added much needed pantry storage as well as a dedicated coffee nook. The bold blue herringbone backsplash, honed black granite, white shaker cabinets and substantial matte black pulls complement the rustic modern style of the adjoining living space.

The client was working with a very small space that couldn’t be expanded, but they wanted to create an island. The designer ended up creating a peninsula work space that gave them the feel of an island without invading as much of the limited space. Open shelves we also brought in to create a more welcoming atmosphere, while creating the illusion of more space. The original kitchen was tight and cramped, offering little storage and function. the clients wanted more countertop space and more storage solutions. They also wanted an open space plan, with views into their backyard, and to allow more natural light into the space. The wall separating the kitchen and living space was removed and a large picturesque window was installed above the sink, creating a large and open space. We envisioned a modern design with warm wood tones and lots of texture and movement. We selected Dura Supreme Bria cabinetry in the Carson door style, achieving a warm feel with quartersawn oak in Heather finish. Our goal in this kitchen was to be creative with storage and not just fill the space with cabinets. By designing hidden work areas like the coffee bar and smoothie prep station on the fridge wall, we were able to create a beautiful aesthetic that also brought added function to the space.

Desperate to update their small, quaint, urban home we came up with a clean modern design that gave them more storage and a sassy look.

This stunning kitchen features excellent storage so very little needs to live on the counters. Select items for display or easy access are situated there. However, even behind closed doors, the organization continues with logical groupings and plenty of clear labels!

The remodeled kitchen expanded into the oversized dining room, making space for a large island, double ovens, ample storage, custom cabinetry, and a large range top, perfect for entertaining. A coffered ceiling adds character and elegance. Recessed lighting, pendants, and in- and under-cabinet lighting offer a warm glow and provide task lighting for meal prep.
