We loved working with Curtis on our whole house remodel. I loved the strong overall vision he brought to our project. Sometimes it took some initial education on our part, but we trusted the professionals and we ended up with amazing results - beyond our wildest dreams. I love his stylistic restraint - simple and clean lines - and neutral backdrops that are punctuated with bold statements of color and pattern. Curtis knows quality at any budget. Love, love, love - cannot say enough good things about the work he does.

We hired Curtis and Dustin to help us remodel and move our kitchen, and rebuild our garage and turn it into a pool house. The design was amazing and they really helped us in selecting a contractor and working through some project issues. We are extremely happy with the end result and receive tons of compliments on the project many months after completion. One of the best compliments we receive is that the house looks like it was always meant to be this way.

My husband and I hired Curtis and Dustin for two projects in Midtown: 1) an alley infill, and 2) a triplex remodel (on the same property). The first drawings they provided for #1 were not anything like the styles we described -- the house was 70 feet long (on an 80 foot lot!) and way too modern for the neighborhood. After we nicely stated that this is a great house, but not what we had in mind for this project, and provided them some additional examples of the styles we liked, the designs only got worse...we ended with a 3-story monolithic box. Since we spent $18,000 and had nothing to show for it, we decided to hit pause on #1 and switch to project #2. We were happy with their drawings for the remodel (project #2), for the time being. Then C&D backed out of project #1 because they didn't want to deal with the Sacramento Preservation Committee...that was heartbreaking. To add to the pain, when we went to bid project #2, we found C&D's measurements were off and our GC had to re-do significant portions of our drawings to get a permit from the City. In summary, we had to start over on project #1 and re-work the design for project #2. Looking back we were disappointed they didn't listen to us, and when we provided our feedback, we felt like ego got in the way of doing what was right (ie making clients happy). Not the type of outcome we expected when we saw their initial fee. Our disappointment became apparent when we started working with a great design-build firm -- which offered a contrast to our experience with C&D. Our advice: if you have a design in mind, just hire a drafter...they will do a better job listening to you, charge less, and move faster. I have been working together with Curtis Popp and Dustin Littrell as the contractor on many of their remodels for years. Their attention to detail, original designs, responsiveness and passion for their work make them a joy to work with when ever I get the chance.

I found Curtis Popp of cpopp workshop on Houzz so I feel as if I’ve now come full circle. In short, Curtis has been a delight to work with on our Tahoe townhouse project that involved removing everything down to the bare bones and rebuilding it. Through it all Curtis steered a clear and consistent course, keeping the line pure, choosing the right materials, fixtures and hardware, and making a very small space seem larger, open and airy through the repetition of design and materials. I learned so much! But most of all to trust Curtis’ vision of the project. One of the many brilliant aspects of working with Curtis is how responsive he is. Messages were usually answered within minutes, but not more than a few hours. And he always seems to be in sync with what I am trying to communicate and responds directly to the points raised. But the bottom line is the finished product. And our townhouse looks like nothing I have ever seen in Tahoe, yet fits in perfectly. Contemporary with a fun rustic twist. It just seems to blend with the mountains, lake and sky in a very special way. I attribute this all to Curtis’ unerringly attuned style and design sense. He is amazingly talented. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with Curtis and Dustin should jump at the chance!

I must give Curtis Popp the highest recommendation possible. Curtis is a great design professional who offers sophistication and sensitivity to clients' desires while also adhering to his own highly refined design aesthetic. My wife and I retained Curtis to design and oversee a renovation of our kitchen and an adjoining hallway and small bathroom. We live in an early 1940's house and wanted a truly modern design with character that also kept the integrity of our home's original design, the sort of design you often see in Europe. Curtis' design accomplished that in a way that provided us with stylish, workable areas that also enhanced the rest of our house. And, he also provided needed guidance during the construction process. The kitchen and bath are spectacular and fit our house seamlessly.

Great design, professional and a true pleasure to work with. Curtis has done a wonderful job maintaining the integrity of our 1950s home while creating a modern living space with clean lines and a cohesive aesthetic. What was once a dark circa 1970 kitchen has been transformed into a very functional space with clean lines and natural light which extends to the outdoors through NanaWall* doors. Curtis is a true professional with spectacular style. He worked with our family for months to design a whole house remodel of our old Spanish Revival home that would enhance the existing architecture, yet allow for modern practicalities. He accommodated the needs of our growing, changing family, yet made it all look cohesive and polished. Curtis was available whenever we needed him and stopped by the project weekly, sometimes daily, for more than a year during construction in order to ensure that the finished product was as intended. He worked through every single detail, from the scale and location of the rooms to the color of the paint for our basement steps. To this day, nearly three years after completion, he is still available to answer questions about our home. We feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Curtis and are SO happy with our new, old family home.
