I have been photographing various projects designed by Lisa and Adam (Christie Architecture) since 2015. Always excited to shoot their next project, because I know it will be worth documenting it. They are endlessly innovative with their manipulations of space and materials. Lisa and Adam believe that each design must respond to its inhabitants with ingenuity and individuality. Timeless design + attention to every detail make their clients' lives simpler and more comfortable.

We feel so lucky to have come across Lisa, who drew up the plans for a major renovation of the finished attic of our 100-year-old house (including a bathroom addition). She was so knowledgeable and patient with us, and we appreciated her walking us through the possibilities and process. Lisa's firm is also part of Portland's expedited permitting (FIR) program, so she was able to get an inspector out to our home within days to ensure our shallow, short stairs could be grandfathered in, no exterior work required. She then connected us with the contractor she works with, who was excellent. We look forward to working with her again!

I recently reached out to Lisa, who designed the upstairs in my (now 101 year) old house - 18 years ago. Yeah, I'm a little late on the review. But I wanted to let her know how well the remodel held up, how functional the design has been for us, and how much we loved the built ins. Working with Lisa really simplified the process and she did a fabulous job narrowing down all the decisions (Which sink? What fixtures? Colors? ahhhhh, I can't decide - so she would present me with 3 choices to see what worked. So much less stressful!). I had her under a lot of constraints (didn't want to raise the roof, for example...tie in with the existing hot water radiators & make a new zone...). I'm so glad I worked with her all those many years ago, and I can't imaging how amazing she must be now, with almost 2 decades more experience. Go with Lisa, you won't regret it!

Lisa and Adam are an absolute delight to work with. We worked with Lisa Christie on a large renovation for our home in Forest Grove - Oregon. Lisa and her team, did a spectacular job explaining the process, gathering ideas/samples, and adhering to a timeline with our contractor team. We had to move to the east coast during the middle of the renovation and home sale and Lisa and the firm maintained the highest level of professionalism and accountability getting the project completed for the new home buyers.

Christie Architecture designed and helped see through to completion a modern addition for our 100-year old house. They made the design process as easy as possible, and saw the project through to completion by staying involved during construction to answer questions from the contractor and make sure all was completed correctly. It was a complicated project that involved numerous adjustments from the City of Portland that were handled without difficulty or delay. At our first project consultation, we knew what we wanted in terms of space, but not how it should be laid out or integrated to the original structure. Lisa and Adam listened to our needs and came up with a clever and aesthetically beautiful solution to add a master on main suite that will allow us to age in place. As a second project, they designed a beautiful, traditional style free-standing garage that fits the aesthetic of the traditional house with matching details like rafter tails and trim. We couldn't be happier with their designs, the process, and the outcome.

Lisa was fantastic to work with! We worked with her on both an upstairs bathroom renovation project around 7 years ago, and a larger bedroom addition and kitchen/bath renovation project last year. Her attention to detail was evident in every aspect of her work, from the initial consultation to the final product, and we deeply appreciate and love the results. We first Christie Architecture for an upstairs bathroom/hallway renovation project. The bathroom was tiny, but Lisa created space for a full bath where there really wasn’t space before. The result was a beautiful and functional space that exceeded our expectations for our upstairs. When it came time for our second (larger) project, we were happy to be able to work with Lisa again. Once again, she brought a strong vision to where we could fit an additional bedroom in our home while building in some key fixes to the main floor of our house, which involved moving our main floor bathroom and renovating our kitchen space to recapture space that was not being well-used. We love our new space! She started with an awkwardly designed, laid out space with odd alignment and created symmetry of windows and doorways for a better (safer) flow for our kitchen. It was a busy time for all contractors, and we really appreciated Lisa’s availability throughout the entire process. We deeply appreciated her patience and support as we made all the choices, small and large, that the project needed us to make - and focusing our choices on things she knew that would work, that we would like, and that would limit our decision fatigue during a large project! Thank you for helping us with all the many details and finishes, as well as the major decisions about where and how to add onto the house, move the bathroom, and refinish the kitchen.

Lisa listens and turned our vision into reality. She is attentive from beginning to end. I've lived in our completed remodel for 5 years and most days I still walk through my house thinking "this is exactly right."

We LOVED working with Adam and Lisa. Our bathroom remodel turned out even more beautifully than we could have imagined. Working with them was a joy: they were easy to contact, always willing to go over project details, offered us wonderful advice while also honoring our own vision--in all ways, so spectacular to work with. We were well impressed with Lisa’s ability to anticipate what the City of Portland would require for our permit submission. Our project was approved without any issues!

I work with Adam and Lisa Christie as a collaborator on projects-I am a Landscape Architect. I would highly recommend them. They have many years of experience, are fluent in codes and permitting, and are wonderful to collaborate with. They bring a strong knowledge of design and construction to the table. Their projects are beautifully and carefully detailed. On top of all of this, they are just really nice to work with!

Our basement project was a success thanks to Christie Architecture! Lisa and Adam were so good to work with and had a very good understanding of the project and our needs. Their communication and level of input after the general contractor was hired and the project commenced was very appreciated and met my expectations. When the project met somewhat of a major hiccup Adam was there to support and guide and consult with the general contractor. They worked well together and made us feel like we had a great team working for us!
