About Us

Interior Design Expert, Cathy Carabello, specializes in new construction and home renovations. After a decades long successful career spanning the southeast, she has returned home to Charleston and is based downtown on the peninsula. Cathy graduated from East Carolina University with a BFA in Interior Design. She got her start in High Point, NC, first as a photographic set designer for the Alderman Company, and then went out on her own as a freelancer working for iconic brands like Thomasville Furniture, designing their freestanding store, in addition to designing showrooms for High Point Market and working for an advertising agency in photographic design for small product and other furniture companies. Her partner, Parker Best graduated from the College of Charleston with a communications degree before she pursued her passion for interior design. She then graduated with a second bachelor's from the Art Institute here in Charleston, which launched her design career and certified her in AutoCad and drafting. Over the past several years she has worked for design firms and construction companies which has created a vast amount of expertise in communicating with contractors and subcontractors to ensure the designs come to life as visioned. Cathy and Parker met on a job while renovating a home in Charleston and decided to partner up to create ULDI, because two heads are better than one!

Cathy has been featured in Houston Magazine and also in design book Segreto, Secrets to Finishing Beautiful Interiors. Additionally, she is an Allied Member of ASID.

Cathy Carabello has been an invaluable resource throughout our renovation project. We bought a carriage house that needed to be gutted to the studs and Cathy provided design and project management services, all the way from floorplan drawings to furniture selection and decoration. She has given her very best and the results have far outreached our expectations. Cathy’s attention to details is second to none and she was able to help us optimize our floorplan to gain square footage and making our home not only beautiful but also practical and well thought. Living out of town, it was particularly comforting to be able to rely on Cathy to help monitor and ensure progress of the project on our behalf, we knew we were in very good hands. Cathy quickly understood our taste which she incorporated in her design suggestions, yet not settling on ‘easy’ selections. She took us at times out of our comfort zone and we are very glad that we followed her vision. Cathy comes highly recommended; you will not be disappointed!

Cathy came in and evaluated our home and goals and she came back with an awesome design plan that was spot on with what we wanted to accomplish! Cathy Carabello at CMC Designs is a visionary. She was able to take existing space and create a separate powder room and then a bathroom and bedroom for my Mom, utilizing ADA requirements. It is beautiful and not the least bit institutional in appearance. The fixtures she found were fantastic and she used every bit of space in such creative ways. She was so easy to work with too.
