DMD did a fantastic job on building an addition for our home. They completed the project within three months, exactly the period that we agreed on. They were on site every day and on time. The site was very clean at all times. There were a few modifications to the original plan that we requested. DMD was very responsive to our requests / preferences, did everything that we asked for and was still able to complete the project by the original deadline. I felt that the quality of construction was good, the guys knew what they were doing, and were very professional. We are very happy that we hired DMD for this construction project.

Mac and DMD General Construction were amazing! We hired them to fix a kitchen remodel. Our brand-new pantry and kitchen island were both too big, leaving too little space between them, and as a result, weren’t up to code due to a less-than-stellar contractor. That was extremely stressful for us. The job required shrinking both, so there was cabinet, countertop, and drywall work required. Mac communicated clearly and gave us his thorough, honest assessment of what needed to change to fix it. He painted a clear picture of the work required, the end result, and the costs. And he was patient while we asked tons of questions to assuage our concerns (of which we had many given our bad experience with our previous contractor). Mac builds his cabinets in-house, so we knew we’d definitely get exactly what we needed to fix the problem. His team was extremely professional and did whatever they could to reduce costs. Their carpentry work was excellent and we now have the kitchen we wanted. Thanks Mac!!!

We hired DMD for a remodel of our home in Cupertino. The project involved remodel of the kitchen, laundry room, four bathrooms, flooring, garage, back porch and painting (interior and exterior). Our experience with Krystian, Mac, Jan and the DMD crew was fabulous. They made the whole process truly stress-free and enjoyable (yes, I am claiming that a remodel project was enjoyable!). From providing a detailed quote up front to handholding us through the various stages of the project, they acted like true partners. The things we appreciated are: a) They cared as much about the project and its outcome as we did b) The quality of workmanship and attention to detail was way beyond our wildest dreams c) They were always patient and willing to spend time to answer any questions and go into any level of details d) They would be up front about ROI on certain modifications and would discourage us from low ROI modifications while suggesting real value adds e) The way they handled surprises during the project and ensured that things got set right put us at ease f) It was easy to keep track of where we were towards completion and know when we were a bit ahead or a bit behind because of the detailed timeline they provided. I would not hesitate for a second to hire them again and I would highly recommend you consider them for your project needs.

We hired DMD General to do a remodel of our home (built in 60s) and add about 400 square foot along with several other improvements such as addition of air conditioning, change of the furnace to move to attic, water heater and roof changes. We already had a design from an architect and the permits from the City. Mac gave a detailed quote with a breakdown. Unlike others that we had quotes from, his quote was detailed and demonstrated a good understanding of the project. We had a few bumps , not the least of which was Covid. We also had a few surprises because the house was old. Through all this, Mac and his crew (especially Krystian) managed the project and delivered on time. He accommodated our vacation and delays in delivery of our choices. WHat I especially liked about DMD is that their recommendation was never based on increasing the cost or their profit. Even when we suggested a change that will cost more, they would tell us an alternate choice that will cost less and better. Overall the project came at the projected cost and time. We are very satisfied with the remodelling done by DMD.

We have just completed a farmhouse remodel with DMD construction and we could not be happier. This is the second home remodel we have done with Mac and his team and the fact that we selected them the second time around says a lot about how much we value them. Both projects were substantial remodels, which allowed us see the team in action all the way from demo to finishing touches. Mac and team have always been extremely easy to work with. They were always available either in-person or just a phone call away when we needed to discuss the project. We also appreciated that Mac was personally involved throughout the entire remodel. He knew the details and was ready to jump in and personally got involved in significant portions of the work. We really appreciated that Mac was someone that we could trust. He was always honest and open about what was possible and what wouldn’t make sense. We knew we were getting solid input as we made decisions over the course of the project. The team’s attention to detail is exceptional. They studied our construction plans and interior elevations intently and delivered exactly what we wanted. If ever there was anything that was unclear, they never assumed and hopped on a call to clarify. Both Mac’s team and the subs he worked with were very dependable in terms of showing up and completing the work. We really appreciated that they were extremely consistent at being on site and making progress. The entire team seem to pride themselves on high quality customer service and an exceptional quality deliverable. We would and have recommended them to family and friends. We don’t plan on another remodel any time soon :) but If we did we would hope to have Mac there with us!

We’ve now settled into our new home, that DMD constructed, for the last 7 months. We are extremely pleased with every interaction we’ve had with Mac, Jan and Kristin right from contract signing to post-construction support DMD built for us a home that exceeded our wildest expectations, delivered on time in spite of being in the middle of the COVID-19 epidemic and came in almost exactly on budget. Let me start with the people first. With a large construction, it is like being in a relationship with the general contractor and with DMD, it felt like Mac, Jan and Krystian were family. Over time we can to trust them as the most honest, upfront and friendly people we’ve worked with. Mac is the consummate professional, a master of his trade and resourceful beyond belief. Krystian has an eye for detail and is not satisfied with anything but the highest quality of craftsmanship and finish. Jan is a phenomenal planner and advisor for selections and was the engine that kept things just humming along. When we were reviewing bids from contractors, many people, including our architect, warned us that the City of Palo Alto was notoriously difficult to work with. We had heard horror stories about projects stalled because of objections from the City. Mac and team proactively spent many hours at the City Hall planning department understanding and getting clarification on all requirements and nuances. They built trustworthy relationships with the building inspectors as work progressed between multiple phases. Not a single inspection required rework. What we loved from the get go about DMD was the complete transparency into the financials with an online tool named CoConstruct. The budgeted cost for each phase, the material allowance, the budgeted labor and the margin was all crystal clear. So impressive was the uprightness and honesty that Mac displayed that there were times when he even removed line items and reduced overall cost without us even asking. Jan keeping track of every single detail and Krystian focusing on fit and finish were the key to bringing it all together. There were so many places where Jan and Kristin provided valuable design and selection advice. Our home could not possibly have turned out the way it did without this. DMD kept the project on schedule, even through the Covid Pandemic, when many other neighborhood projects stalled. And we never felt rushed for selections even though we took our time. All in all I would rate them 5 Stars on every single dimension. There are so many things that can go wrong with a project of this magnitude and we were blessed to have such an amazing engagement. I would not be surprised to see DMD as a prominent construction company of considerable repute in Palo Alto, Los Altos and Menlo Park over the coming years. Our very best wishes to them.

DMD did an excellent job remodeling both our bathrooms. The experience from beginning to the end was great! They were very competitive and stayed right on target. They were efficient, always responsive and easy to communicate with. All the team was very knowledgeable, pleasant and did a great job, keeping the place clean, focusing on all the details and custom asks. Mac and Chrystian particularly made all this very seamless, with stunning support and leadership, great recommendations and options to accommodate our project. Overall they exceeded our expectations and we will definitely trust them for any other work.

DMD was a referral from a co-worker who worked with them on two other occasions. It speaks volumes when a company, like DMD, has so many repeat customers, and if we decide to renovate again we know who to call. From the first meeting to contract negotiation, DMD stood out from the 3 other GCs we met. A very thorough estimate was forwarded in a timely manner, they took every phone call or would respond promptly, and provided sound judgement on where to cut costs and stay on budget. Ours was an extensive project, alittle over a year from demo to final inspections during the pandemic. And as we were first time renovators, without a designer, team DMD and their vendors were incredibly helpful in guiding us through the process, from material selection to design, cost saving measures to creative solutions. We procured a lot of materials through them at substantial savings. DMD definitely prioritized customer service; the PM would be onsite daily and we had regular meetings. DMD and their subcontractors have exacting standards, but in the instances where it fell short, they were on top of it, including tearing out half of the new metal roofing and redoing our cove lighting. We needed to move in half way through, and the team made living in a construction site bearable. They meticulously taped off work zones, thoroughly cleaned up after every day, were conscientious with personal noise, and were mindful of our privacy. Without reservation, we highly recommend DMD.

We partnered with DMD for a partial remodel (kitchen, bathrooms, etc.) starting in Fall 2019. Working with Mac, Kris, Jan and their team was a fantastic experience. It felt like a true partnership and they continuously went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied with the work and service. Additionally, as GC's, they have high standards with who they contract projects out to and it shows. All the subcontractors were true professionals and did a great job. We recommend DMD without hesitation and will look forward to working with them in the future!

We have come to rely on Mac and the DMD General team for all of my remodel needs. First, we did a bathroom remodel with them in 2015, and a full house remodel in 2019 (you can see those pictures titled Modern Home - Mountain View). First things first, Mac and his team are genuinely nice people and want to do what's best for their customers. Their attitude is phenomenal and the team is extremely courteous to both my wife and me. We have had nightmare experiences with certain vendors that are disrespectful, but you won't get an ounce of that from Mac's team. The DMD General team is obsessed with quality and precision - everyone from their tile guy to their electrician ensure that every inch of each tile is aligned correctly, the light fixtures are properly leveled and measured, and they don't compromise on the finishing touches, which we really appreciate. They don't take shortcuts and only recommend the best vendors to procure parts and fittings. In the rare event that something doesn't work out, Mac and Krystian personally ensure that things are made right. My recommendation would be to just rely on their recommended vendors as life is just easier. Mac and Krystian also have good, practical ideas that we wouldn't have thought of - things like curb-less showers, closet lights, etc - which don't seem huge in the large scheme of things but actually make a huge difference in daily use. We also left all decisions around the the picking of recessed lighting, skylights, windows, etc to the DMD team and all of their recommendations were of the best quality - again, just another way where they reduced a few decisions that we would have to make. As you all know (or don't), remodels can be a stressful time. Mac and the DMD General team are the best contracting team I have worked had the pleasure of working with and I would highly recommend their services. My wife and I hired DMD for our renovation project that included an addition, bathroom relocation, and simple layout change. We interviewed about 5 different general contractors and found that DMD offered a good balance of trustworthy-ness and reasonable pricing. Mac is the head guy, and his partner Krystian are both very responsive. Project manager Jan was great to work with. Now, every project comes with its own set of challenges and this one wasn't without its own. There were few issues that I wished that DMD had brought to our attention before they proceeded with the work. But, those were issues that were not in the original plans, and they are able to remedy those issues to our satisfaction. There were few things we had to meat in the middle and come to an understanding on, but most of them were minor things. Also, I do wish there were few things I wish we had more clarification on on their proposal, but I would take responsibility on that for not asking the right questions. As this was our first major renovation, we didn't know to think of certain things. So I think we would have appreciated some "hand-holding" to guide us. BUT, they did make some compromises to make us happy, but we have to give them credit for that as well. As previously mentioned, everyone at DMD is very professional and responsive. IF you see any issues during the duration of the project, they ill responded quickly as they can and try to come up with a solution that would be up to your satisfaction. My wife and I heard some horror stories during renovation. We have watched number of HGTV shows, enough to freak ourselves out about every little issues. However, DMD generally was able to ease our minds and work with us through out the project. Even after the project was complete, Mac would periodically check in on us to make sure everything is good with the house. As most general contractors should, they set you up with a 30 day timeline to gather any punch list items for them to come and address. In addition, he has sent someone to address few minor issues couple of times already since then. I have recommended DMD to my family and friends. I would recommend them to anyone.

We hired Mac for a major reconfiguration and addition to our home. I am an architect and this was a bit of a dream project for me. Mac gave a very detailed estimate and was quick to answer the few questions that we did have. He started the project on time and stayed on schedule. He was available to meet us at our convenience. His crew were always on time, respectful and cleaned up well at the end of each day. He has great recommendations for material suppliers and was willing to pass on contractor savings. His own workmanship is excellent- he worked himself on the wood siding of the front porch,(photo attached) the cedar ceiling of the back porch as well as cove lighting which were my design throwback to Mid-century architectural style. Mac and Krystian supervised the sub-contractors and made sure that all parts of the job were upto their high standards specially in the finishes. Rudy was jack of all trades and always positive, helpful and able to perform tasks assigned to him at the same high quality. Erik, their painter is an artist when it comes to painting and finishing. Mac was helpful with input whenever we needed and one can easily see that he has a lot of experience and knows the work. As an architect and someone who would notice every detail in workmanship we would gladly recommend him for any projects.

We added over 800 sq feet and remodeled entire house with DMD. The project came out beautiful and was easier than expected. We appreciate attention to details and many great suggestions in the process of designing our home. This company has very good work ethics and high integrity.

Mac and Krystian from DMD General Construction rebuilt my home in 2018. The entire process of working with them was a very pleasant one. They worked with me from the planning phase and helped me smooth out the plan to make sure it will work out when built. The contract was very well laid out and clear. I had the options to buy myself or choose things like tiles, cabinets, paint etc. They took care of taking care of all my choices. The most important thing was that they always completed every step on time. My project was completed on time and we were able to move into the house. There were some small things that we identified after we moved into the house which were taken care to our satisfaction. I wanted to add a steam shower in the middle of the construction to one of the bathrooms and they took care of it for me without overcharging me. We met often during the construction process and I got great ideas from them regarding colors, positioning etc and also would take my opinions into consideration.They also installed a great home theater speaker system for me which works great Even almost 10 months after we moved into the house, we have no complains. They take care of some small things that come up up to a year after construction. I highly recommend them for your next construction project if you want very high quality work, great service and most important, timely execution, you have to go with these guys.

Mac from DMD Construction did a great job remodeling my bathroom. As you can see from the attached pictures, the finished bathroom is gorgeous. I got so many compliments from guests visiting our home. Mac and Kristian are knowledgeable, honest, and trust worthy. We did a home addition (700 sq ft) and also remodeled the entire house. Mac, Krystian & DMD General Construction did a fantastic job. They knew what they were doing, they were very easy to work with and their entire crew was polite and respectful. We made some changes along the way and Mac was very receptive towards them, inspite of the changes they completed the job in timely manner. The portion of my house not being worked on was professionally sealed to keep dust out so I could continue to live there throughout construction. The guys were always polite and professional. Iast year we have decided to completely remodel our 1964 home in west San Jose. We have started our 700 sq. feet house addition project with DMD through a friends referral. Our objective was also to simultaneously redesign the entire existing space (open concept Kitchen, Living room, Family room with vaulted ceilings, bathrooms and all bedrooms). We hired an architect and a designer... however DMD (Mac and Krystian) turned it into a true dream home. Mac and his team are innovative, very reliable and extremely detailed. They are truly visionary's in the construction world. They use the latest building ideas and products to reinvent a mid century classic home into a modern marvel. Mac worked on a remodeling project at our house last year. He is a thorough professional and has deep expertise. I loved the quality of his work and finish. The scope of his remodeling included: taking down a few internal walls, taking out the floor tiles and re-doing the entire house in hardwood, re-doing closets, walk-in closets, pantry, laundry room, installing panoramic doors, painting internal and external walls, installing new lights and new garage door. Mac is exceedingly good about ensuring that he delivers his project on time. We had to move out of the house and were renting an airbnb. It was critical for us that he delivered on time as the airbnb was not available (booked by someone else) beyond the date we booked. So in case the project got delayed, we would have to hunt for a different airbnb and move again with 8 suitcases, not to mention the additional cost of renting for longer. Mac kept re-assuring us that the project would be done on time and he kept his word. We were able to move in on the day he promised us months ago! I am very satisfied with his work. He did not compromise on quality at all to deliver on time. We are going to work with him again to expand the house later this year. I would recommend Mac without any hesitation to all family and friends

Mac and his team did a great job. The house we purchased needed; new plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. Mac's team also took down a wall and gave us a more open concept plan living room/kitchen. Mac's team did an excellent job getting our new house move-in ready.

Mac was recommended by our architect. We needed to move our two bathrooms and add a third one. It was quite a surgery, but Mac gave a reasonable estimate and finished the job without any hiccups and there were no additional charges. Mac always responds to our questions even after the job has been over. His crew was respectful and professional. I highly recommend Mac and his team.

We hired Mac to do a remodel and addition on our home in the summer of 2014. He and his team were a pleasure to work with and were on-time and on budget. This was extremely important to my wife and me because we were pregnant with our 4th child, so time was of the essence. Despite the pressure, Mac handled the project like a champ and he made everything as stress-free and seamless as possible. The scope of our project was a 600 sqft addition, kitchen, powder room, master bathroom, master bedroom, living room, great room, walk-in closet, front facade and walkways. Basically half of our house was completely torn down, and we added some more space for our growing family. Now, I wish the other half of our house was torn down and matched the excellent work Mac, Krystian, and their crew did. We plan on renovating that part of the house as well, and plan on hiring DMD General Construction to do the job when we do. In the meantime we have, however, hired DMD for some other smaller projects on two other properties, which we are very satisfied with as well, and we have also referred them to some of our friends and neighbors who are extremely happy with their finished products too. Also, in working with the vendors that Mac recommended, we found many people love working with him and give him a better contractor's discount than other companies. Most other GC firms will take these contractor discounts as their profits, but DMD passes these cost savings to their clients. This makes a huge difference, especially since good quality finishes and fixtures can add a significant amount to your project. We interviewed and met with several contractors and we couldn't have made a better choice. Mac is very HONEST, TRUSTWORTHY, FAIR, and easy to work with. Bottom line is that I would definitely hire Mac and the DMD crew again, I have and will continue to refer him to my friends and family, and I am extremely happy with the work that they did on our home.
