We received a referral for Gravel to Gold by our landscape designer, Ornamental Gardens by Lisa. This was for a complete overhaul of our backyard which was a jungle! Steve oversaw everything including the interior work of my studio (shell was done by Tuff Sheds). He had a challenging time working with the installation of solar on our roof, but he made it happen! Once we can afford it, we will complete the front yard with his help too!

We were referred to Gravel to Gold by our landscape designer, who had created a beautiful water-wise garden plan to replace our worn-out grass lawn. The project was extensive, involving complete demolition and removal of the existing front, side, and backyard landscaping, removal of the old patio, site leveling, and installation of new irrigation, lighting, plants, retaining walls, and fencing and new patio. From day one, Steve and the entire Gravel to Gold team were outstanding. They arrived on time every day, worked methodically and professionally, and left the job site clean and organized at the end of each workday. The project took approximately seven weeks to complete, and the final result exceeded our expectations. One of the things we appreciated most was communication throughout the project. Any deviations from the original plan were discussed thoroughly, with clear options, costs and recommendations provided before any decisions were made. There were never any surprises. Steve maintained a constant presence on the job site from start to finish, personally guiding and directing his team every step of the way. His attention to detail, organization, and follow-through were exceptional. Nothing was forgotten, and every aspect of the project was managed with care and professionalism. I can't recommend Gravel to Gold enough! Anne-Emile and Steve are extremely knowledgeable experts in this field and it shows. They spent so much time with my husband and I to make sure we got the design perfect, revising our plan multiple times to accommodate last minute ideas, issues, and questions. We really appreciated their attention to detail and quality as well as their care in planning a design that would work for us for years to come. Steve recommended excellent subcontractors and his team was timely, respectful, and efficient. They also offer a 30 day plant guarantee and have been out to our home to check on the plants multiple times since the project's completion. Gravel to Gold Inc is by far one of the best landscape contractors in the San Diego area. I feel bad it has taken me this long to write a review, but life has taken over. Steve and his team took plans from our landscape architect and brought them to reality. He was the only (of three) to come out to our house and walk through the detailed process, what he thought would work, and what he didn't think would work. In the end, his team built us a beautiful retaining wall, an entry way, laid a new driveway, lighting, irrigation, THE WORKS! And when we last minute decided to replace our sewer line from the house, he quickly worked that into the plan. His team worked with the utmost care, and they genuinely cared about the job. It was by far the best investment we have made with our house. I would choose Gravel to Gold time and time again. Our front yard, after over a year, looks beautiful, fits perfect to the style of our house and neighborhood, and was the exact vision my wife and I had when we set out on the big task of redoing our front yard. I have never written a review before but Gravel to Gold did such a great job for us I feel compelled to spread the word! We received a referral from our designer, Lisa Bellora, and are so happy with how our project came out. Steve and his highly professional team came through on everything from start to finish. The project involved a full replacement of our front garden landscaping which is now much admired in our neighborhood. Gravel to Gold completed the project very quickly because it was planned out in detail at the start and was conducted exactly as we were told it would be. No surprises. The team came every day, worked efficiently (and cheerfully!) and there was no downtime. Everything was completed in two weeks and there were no glitches or delays. Truly this was a very different experience than we have had with other projects and we are now planning to reimagine our back garden also and will be using Gravel to Gold to help us to do it. Steve helped me transform my 1/2 acre property into a waterwise garden, including a large, steep, challenging slope area that we planted with California natives. We did the front in a mediterranean style and the back we kept tropical-style as we already had palms and other tropical-looking plants. Steve also oversaw a complete remodel of our pool that was essential to the backyard makeover. Steve is extremely thorough in his planning, estimation, and execution. He knows what it takes to get things done and he was good at communicating and helping me make decisions. Because of my confidence in him, I added a number of features to the project as it progressed, including landscape lighting, rebuilding raised planter beds, and the pool remodel. I am extremely satisfied with the result. I will hire Steve again to do any landscape work needed on my property.

This was to remove the bulk of our front yard landscaping, prune a couple of existing trees, prune a property line hedge, install new irrigation lines, new lighting, and over 100 new plants. We were seeking a more open yard with better water wise plants and lower maintenance requirements. Gravel to Gold fully delivered on their promises throughout the project. They were on time every day, were methodical about their work, and left a clean jobsite at the end of each day. The project took about three weeks to complete, and turned out great. Everyone working on the property was pleasant and accommodating to our needs. There were a few plants and a light fixture that we felt needed to be moved after installation, and they just took care of it without hassle or delay, and with care and positivity. Gravel to Gold is definitely one of the very few contractors that we have worked with over the years that delivers a top level experience. Great communication, clear direction, all the right follow ups, nothing forgotten, and a constant jobsite presence from day one to completion. If you are looking for a landscape contractor that will actually do what they say and give you top level service, then I have no reservations in recommending Gravel to Gold.

Professional, Trusted, Quality and Vision. These are four adjectives that come to my mind before, during and after my recent landscaping project with Gravel to Gold. First, there was an impending concern with the roots of a giant pine tree breaking up my 2,000 sq ft. driveway and coming within inches of the front door. From day one, I had confidence that the project would be executed with the highest of standards. The tree was safely removed in-between a group of large boulders and to my surprise, a gorgeous view was revealed. Then a complete renovation of the landscaping, hardscaping (pathway), rod iron fencing and trashcan storage began. The detail that went into the decisions and planning was impressive. I was given lists and images to respond with my preferences. As an artist, colorful plantings and as well as water-wise guidelines were top on my list for the new plants. Responding to that, they had the brilliant idea to research my artwork and that one of my colorful hummingbird paintings was the inspiration behind the choices. Wow! A flagstone and decomposed granite walkway was creatively placed to lead up into the boulders and a fence was built to conceal the trash area. I was also surprised with thoughtful additions using leftover flagstone. High end lighting was designed and implemented. Every evening, it's a welcoming and beautiful sight. A new irrigation clock was installed for the completely revised landscaping areas. A problem for me in the past, I am now reassured it was corrected. In all, I highly recommend Gravel to Gold for the ingenuity they provided, varied skills, prompt communications and on-time execution.

We hired Anne-Emilie and Steve to design and construct entirely new landscaping for our front yard, and both exceeded our expectations. One of the main reasons we went with a single design and build firm was to make the overall process easy and to work with one contractor through the process. While we were warned several times by friends to expect delays and budget overages, G2G was up front with how they pride themselves on accuracy on timelines and budget, both of which were true upon completion. Most striking was their attentiveness to detail, punctuality, and the sense of urgency the G2G team had throughout the entire project. Our journey began in the design phase with Anne-Emilie who listened attentively to our requests when it came to a garden redesign. We wished to retain certain aspects and materials in the garden while refreshing the area and making it suitable for our family. We bounced ideas over the course of a couple of months and Anne-Emilie was respectful of our budget and constraints. Our project was challenging since it only included our front and side yard, meaning the improved areas needed to blend into the existing yard while hooking into the existing irrigation and drainage system. In the end, she delivered a fantastic set of demolition, planting, lighting, and hardscaping plans that captured exactly what we had in mind. This included hundreds of individual drought-tolerant plantings, grading, drip irrigation, a retaining wall, custom fabrication of a metal fence, path and up-lighting, and mulch. She continually made herself available for questions and advice as we needed it and would respectfully tell us when an ask wouldn't make sense or wasn't the best way to go about it. Steve nearly immediately picked up those plans and began construction on the garden. We had already completed separate construction work with Steve's team for an outdoor shower and paint work on the exterior of our house that was (yet again) above our expectations and felt very comfortable going into the garden work. His team and subcontractors were great to work with, very respectful of our property, and made a complicated project feel easy. His team completed all items ahead of schedule. I truly appreciated Steve's guidance in always thinking about the future and doing things "the right way" versus "the easy way". At no point did I feel that his team were cutting corners - in fact, I felt they were bringing minor items up to me I otherwise wouldn't have noticed. He was up front about the pricing of several add-ons we requested and always had time for my questions about their work or how something functioned. In summary we've had nothing but a positive experience with the G2G team and would wholeheartedly recommend them. We used Gravel to Gold for a complete backyard redesign and remodel. Their attentiveness and willingness to work within our budget throughout the design and contracting process was only outdone by their customer service throughout the remodel: they showed up when they said they would, their staff was friendly and conscientious, and they worked diligently to ensure it was done well. Our project was done on time and within budget - and they continue to answer random questions we have 4 months after completion. We would use them again without hesitation!

Steve Gold and his crew are the absolute best in the business! Steve provided input and artistic guidance on our project from start to finish with wonderful results. Our extensive lawn was removed front and back, which included demolition of some existing hardscape, drainage replacement, landscape regrading and planting with water saving native plants and trees. The plan included a paver path around our house, extensive lighting and installation of a drip irrigation system, which was then covered with a thick coat of mulch. Weeks later plants are getting bigger and everything looks amazing. Steve Gold was a pleasure to work with.
