Heather has once again knocked it out of the park creating a bedroom that fits me and my personality perfectly. Before she helped me redesign, I never spent time in that room--now it's a perfect place to relax. She is always respectful of my budget and sure to offer me a few choices, but not so many I'm overwhelmed. Truly I cannot speak highly enough of her services.

We have worked with Heather on several projects, and she was our first thought when we decided to invest in a beach home renovation. We wanted more functionality in the space, and an updated look that incorporated some specific pieces. I wanted to steer away from a classic coastal look (think Serena and Lily) and keep to earthier tones, a touch of the Nags Head "boho" side and lean into the wood trim. She worked well with our General Contractor/Project Manager and delivered a very special product that was everything that I/we wanted it to be. It was a little different model, with the GC controlling flooring and cabinets (made sense being 150 miles away), but she handled all the selections there and together they met our timeline and our budget. As was the case with our previous experiences, Heather has an incredible eye for what her client's "vibe" is, and an ability to blend in special hand-selected pieces with functional ones for a delightful/emotional presentation. Only criticism - not a big fan of the Houzz platform to be honest - lack of visualization in the space (white silos of product only), timeline and budget functions, etc... site sometimes clunky. Most of this was overcome by Heather's consistent communication with us. Would highly recommend Heather for your special project!

I have purchased multiple items from Metta Home. Sheets, lamps, small decor and incense. Everything has been outstanding quality. I absolutely love my sheets and duvet cover - so soft and luxurious! And I use my incense on a daily basis.

Metta Home is wonderful to work with. The overall process was efficient and I am very happy with my end results. Heather has great vision and creative ideas. She incorporated my existing pieces with the new ones nicely. I really enjoy my home so much more, after working with Heather at Metta Home.

Heather was very professional and helpful she had great ideas for my project and listened to my visions she was just who I needed to turn my visions into realty my home feels cozy and I love coming into my home. She is reliable, returns your calls in a timely manner and she is very knowledgeable on fabrics, materials and color schemes. Let me not forget …she will find you the best price. I have recently completed my second project with Heather and her team. I was so impressed with the work she did with us on our home in Richmond that I decided to put her to the test and get her long-distance help with a second home in FL. Heather has yet to step foot in the house, but used her extraordinary skills to work from videos, pictures, dimensions, and discussions. She understood that this had previously been used as a rental, and we wanted to gradually replace furniture and lighting fixtures on a more limited budget and still have it be coherent, relaxed, and appropriate for dogs and grandchildren, a tall order! Heather is always responsive to budgetary constraints. When vendor delivery issues became a problem, Heather and her team were always supportive and worked hard to resolve issues. Her gentle guidance about choices was, like our first project, invaluable. I have no question that her design fees were worth every penny in helping us to make good choices and ultimately saving us money. Heather's help on this project far exceeded expectations, which were already high.

The overall process and communication effectiveness? I contacted Heather in the fall of 2023 when my husband and I decided that we needed to add more space to our existing home. I knew from our first conversation that Heather was going to be the perfect person for our job. She listened to our concerns and set a plan in motion to accomplish our goal of building a two-story addition adding a family space on the first floor and a master bedroom retreat on the second floor. Heather brought in experienced contractors to work on our project, and we all met frequently through the planning phase of the project. Once the construction started, Heather met with the contractors weekly to make sure that the project progressed as smoothly as possible. Heather was always accessible to us for even the smallest concerns and she kept us aware of the schedule for all of the projects with as much notice as possible. Heather is so much more than a designer and she wore many hats during this process from project manager to interior designer to renovation therapist. We lived in the house during construction with our two boys and three dogs, and we are so grateful for Heather for making life as easy as possible for us during that time. - Your satisfaction with the design choices and implementation? We love the design that Heather put together for our house and it definitely reflects our personalities and the vision that we had for our home. Heather took a lot of time to get to know our likes and dislikes and made the decision-making process very easy by providing tiles, paints, flooring, furniture choices that she knew we would like and would also look great together in our new spaces. Heather has an incredible eye for detail and for knowing what will look beautiful in your space. - How well we incorporated your existing items into the new home. Our home was built in 1934 and is a very traditional colonial. While we loved the character of the home, it was quite small for our family with two large boys who play a lot of sports and three large dogs. For the eight years prior to the renovation, our home served as utilitarian locker room/kennel. In renovating our home, we wanted spaces that would be comfortable for our family and friends and would also preserve the original character of the home. Heather was able to accomplish that goal with her design work and it really feels like the addition has always been a part of the original house. As our project comes to a close, we are so grateful to Heather and the wonderful team of people she brought in to work with us. While I won't miss living in a construction project, I will miss working with Heather on a regular basis. Heather brings joy to a difficult process and she is excellent at her job. Heather Martin is simply an extraordinary designer who will make your space feel magical. If you have the opportunity, don't hesitate to work with her. She recently completed an extensive "uplift" to our home, and we couldn't be happier with the results. We are thrilled with the high-end, form-meets-function, fresh and clean renovation -- we absolutely love it! She made the entire process run smoothly. Her team is talented, efficient, and neat. (And nice!) Heather is a legit design genius who has fantastic ideas plus the skill to execute them. Whenever possible, she used existing items in our home to minimize waste and stick to the budget, and then added a few elements to make them feel fresh. She opened our eyes to out-of-the-box choices that we would never have discovered without her. I was a little iffy about one wallpaper before installation, but now that it's on the wall, it is one of my favorite spaces! Lesson learned: If you hire a talented designer, listen to her ideas. She has extensive experience, stellar vision, and won't steer you wrong. Heather is a 5-star designer; we feel lucky we found her. Hiring Heather was our very best design decision ever!

Heather was amazing. She began by listening to us talk about what we would like our new home to be, from the tone we would like to set to being pet-proof and welcoming to grandchildren yet still elegant, open, and contemporary. We wanted to showcase our art and incorporate a few pieces of old furniture while integrating new pieces and rugs. She looked carefully at our art, assessed colors that worked with our more significant art pieces and noticed the kinds of colors that we were drawn to. She recognized early in the process that we had a challenge in creating a large yet multi-functional loft that would work as a library, a sleeping area for visiting grandchildren, and a play area. She quickly ascertained our taste and worked from there with her extraordinary sense of proportion, color, textiles, practicality, and creativity. She helped us pick everything from flooring, plumbing fixtures, lights, furniture, rugs, built-ins, and even napkins! She had a network of excellent craftspeople who completed projects for us and found great purchase sources for the new items needed. Ultimately, we ended up with a gorgeous home that looked and felt like us, seamlessly flowed from room to room, highlighted our art, and created a special place for our family and friends to gather. Heather also stayed within budget without our having to monitor that piece.

There are not enough good things to say about my experience in working with Heather on my family room redo. I had initially worried about how difficult the process would be in trying to redcorate remotely with someone from another state (I'm in NC and she is in VA) but she came so highly recommended that I was willing to give it a try. Let me tell you - choosing Heather was the absolute best decision I could have ever made. Her own personal style is amazing but her ability to see my vision and teach me about my own style was even better. She worked hand in hand with me helping make beautiful furniture, fabric and color selections that really gave my home the style and feel I had always wanted. She was able to travel to me during initial installation and held my hand remotely through all of the finishing touches. From start to finish she was a true professional that I would recommend to anyone considering any sort of renovation or update.

These properties were purchased to be used as short term rental/vacation homes for my friends and family. I initially picked some furniture, light fixtures and such, as I was hoping to do all of the design myself, but it quickly became apparent to me that I was in over my head. The homes have a bit of a dated feel with lots of original wood and custom cabinetry but I knew that the right person could take that from clunky to the woodsy, zen feeling I wanted to convey. I’ve worked with Heather a few times on different projects so even though these homes were a few hours away I knew I could trust her to get the job done well. She worked with my decisions and made the more modern furniture I favor make sense in this cozy, homey space. She did a great job designing my outdoor spaces and her knowledge of textiles and outdoor furniture was so helpful in ensuring that the outside purchases would last and be comfortable for guests to enjoy for a long time to come. She made sure each room was comfortable and had unique character and even came in under budget, no small feat with a project and budget of this size! All of this to say what I was asking for was no small undertaking but Heather made it happen and I couldn't be happier with the results! (Attached are photos of both houses)

I moved into my forever home late this Summer and was excited to get started decorating. I kept moving things around and could not seem to figure out the spacing. Lucky for me that I was already familiar with Heather and her brand. I felt very comfortable confiding to her that my budget was not the largest and that I am not completely sure what my style is. Heather was able to lead me through some questions about my likes and dislikes and help me pick a few pieces that were in my price range. Best of all we were able to use pieces of mine that I still like, some that I got for free off of Facebook and now look brand new with a fresh coat of paint (color picked by Heather)and a little fabric and staple gun action (me), and some items Heather suggested that I take from my parent's house. Heather loved the art that I have from my children's school days and encouraged me to use it. My house is turning into a home and I love it! I would highly recommend Heather. What I love about Heather and Metta is that I have felt comfortable throughout the process. She is great at communicating. I never felt any push to spend more than I am comfortable with, and she encouraged me to use furniture and "art" that I already have. I never thought that a decorator would be something that I could afford, I am so glad that I was wrong about that!

Heather came in during a crunch time to do major upgrades and make design choices for the foundation of our new home. We were moving in from out of town and she managed the entire project, made excellent design recommendations, and kept us in budget by helping us organize the necessities vs long term goals in this massive project. She spent the time to get to know our family to make sure our new house was a “home” for all of us.

Heather was great to work with, and we loved the finished product! I would definitely recommend her to anyone.

Heather is excellent at design concept and execution. She managed two remodels for us and we were very pleased with timing, financial management and appearance . We recommend Heather without reservation.

Heather took my mess of a living room and was able to visualize and execute a brand new look and feel for it mostly using things I already had. She took the room to another level by adding a beautiful carpet that brings all the colors of my home together into this central area. And the basket she chose for blankets is awesome! It's just perfect for the room. She also had an eye on getting more space out the room, which is small but now feels much bigger and inviting. I highly recommend Heather to change your home because she surely knows what she's doing!

Heather is ingenious at solving design problems and working within a budget. Her outside the box creativity helped us find a beautiful solution to living with two dogs. Heather found fabric that we absolutely love and works for our lifestyle.

We used Heather to set up our Airbnb business basically from scratch. What we started with was a bit lower even than blank slate and she did an incredible job setting the theme and ambience that we wanted personally and also what would work for the business. In the photo attached - just a small example - we transformed a simple small condo patio into a cute "get away" for our guests. She blended a few items that were special to us with some thrift finds and - mostly - new items...and to top it off she delivered on time!!
