Best Practice Architecture

We had a great experience with Best Practice. We did a full remodel of our house with a $300k budget. BP understood our needs well and helped us rethink our house accordingly. Partway through the project, we had to take a step back and reconsider components of the project due to budgetary constraints. BP did a thoughtful review of all components and helped us identify what we should keep and cut from the project. BP participated in weekly meetings with us and our contractor to ensure the project stayed on track. They worked very well with our contractor. We are pleased with the outcome and would definitely work with BP in the future.

Ian Butcher, Architect: he listens! We hired Ian to turn an old, shabby-chic barn into an art studio. We were sure someone would tell us to tear it down and start over. Ian, like us, saw the barn as an asset we could use. It was not an obstacle for him. Ian promptly drew up the most unique plan utilizing what was already there to minimize cost. He is creative, he is innovative, he is conscientious and, most importantly, has a beautiful design aesthetic which is the reason one hires and architect! We recommend him and his superb ability to see and resolve problems; and, to DESIGN.

I'm an architectural photographer who has photographed many projects completed by Best Practice, in doing so I have gotten familiar with their work in detail. The folks at Best Practice really delve into the details, be they conceptual or architectural/design, and are attentive to all the elements of each project, from spacial planning to the finishes and custom fixtures and colors. Their approach is playful and inventive, while still thorough and grounded on many of the classic elements that make spaces work.

Ian helped my husband and I design the remodel of our home. He created a look and feel for our house that was modern yet respected the original 100 year structure. His design incorporated architectural features through out that gave interest and were coherent to the overall look and feel. We enjoy our house everyday, it makes us happy.
