In 2019 my wife and I bought our dream home in our dream neighborhood. Only problem, it came with a 1991 dream kitchen, complete with mirrored backsplash, green granite, and black appliances. We brought Alex in to redesign the space and spruce up the existing floorplan. She immediately tossed that out the window and took our big ideas and made them even grander, moving the kitchen altogether and creating a high end and elegant space. The new floorplan feels natural and highlights an original fireplace. The layout shows off the views from a bay window and brings the outside in. Guests say that the kitchen feels like it should have always been there. She took a 1948 house with a 1991 kitchen and created a timeless space that we will enjoy with our children for years to come. The design process was simple and collaborative, the subs and punch-out crews were excellent and the attention to detail was amazing. Thanks for your time and efforts, we are truly blessed to have entrusted this once in a lifetime project to a great team of thoughtful professionals!

Alex is a gem. She listens to her clients to understand their style and needs but also readily provides guidance when her input is sought. We have worked with her on two renovations, once for our master bathroom and once for our kitchen. Both experiences were wonderful. Dale was our on-site project manager. Lane is a terrific firm if you are looking for a full-service design-build with a lot of staff and resources to help you through the project. They are not the cheapest guys out there, by far, but all the overhead and support doesn't come for free. It's important to really spend time on the details in the design iterations before the plans and pricing are set. We did two major projects with Lane recently: in 2014, a large family room addition that involved significant underground work as well as lots of patio and walkways space, and in 2015, the renovation of another end of the house a reconstruction of an office and exterior walls and interior floors. Both projects involved creating spaces that tied into the 1930 woodwork, floors and feel of the original main house. The family room addition tied into an existing kitchen (renovated in 2005) and the existing center hall and living room. The construction manager for Lane, in charge of the actual building, was fantastic and kept the project moving ahead daily. As things came up that we needed to discuss, including many improvements to the original plans, he was an invaluable part of the success. His grading and siting of the new patio and walkways (Asian Bluestone over concrete) was key to getting proper drainage on the lot. There are many, many details involved in major construction, and it was really the attention to detail on the part of the Lane construction manager that made it all work. The results are beautiful and define "home improvement" at a very high level. You get what you pay for, and in our case, even more!

I hired Lane Homes to remodel a guest bathroom, sunroom, backyard patio and basement (plus replacing all of the exterior wood around my home with hardy plank). These were big projects and a huge undertaking for me. I am so glad that I chose Lane Homes for these projects. One project flowed seamlessly into the next. They handled every detail from the design work, scheduling contractors to ordering materials. I never worried about one thing along the way in large part thanks to their project manager Tom Homer. I hired Lane to renovate my kitchen, which required the existing kitchen to be completely gutted and a load bearing wall to be removed. From the design phase, through construction, my project was seamlessly executed! The staff at Lane were professional and attentive. The quality of work was excellent, and the materials they used were of the highest quality! The final result was a one of a kind, designer kitchen! My kitchen renovation was phase one in a 5 phase plan, to modernize my 1930's home. I am so pleased to have teamed up with Lane to make my home, my dream home!

In 2013, I hired Lane to design and build a downstairs master suite. The addition was beautiful, the job was finished on time, and the Lane crew was friendly, courteous and efficient. In September 2014, I used Lane again to replace rotten wood on the exterior of my home, and to repaint. Again, they did an outstanding job. I plan to use them in the next year.

Lane Homes and Remodeling is tops in central Virginia for design/build remodeling. They totally redesigned our kitchen and the back of our home, opening it up and transforming and improving the way we use the space with custom cabinets, a huge island, and high end appliances.
