We worked with Wright Street to design a renovation of our upstairs, which involved some reframing and other major changes. Overall the experience was very good. Stanley listened to and helped crystallize our (frequently vague) desires, offered helpful direction and ideas we hadn’t considered, and presented us with detailed drawings of a few different options. The only real criticism we have is that the planning process and drawings took a fair bit longer than originally estimated. Partly this was because of some employees being out for covid during a particularly heavy stretch, so it may not be a recurring problem. Now that our project is complete, we are happy with how it turned out. Several of Stanley’s ideas/suggestions ended up working out very well.

We moved into our home that Stan designed and built in 1990. The house was featured in the April 1993 Better Homes and Gardens for its design and styling. It has been a dream house for us as Stan took our thoughts and wants and transcribed them to a final product. His ease of manner, business acumen, and forward looking designs made him easy to work with. Features added at that time have remained current even after 30 years. The house still looks brand new.

After interviewing 6 contractors/interior designers/architects, I knew that Wright Street Design Group, Inc. was the firm I wanted to do my renovation. Stan Monroe & David Gagnon turned my ordinary bathroom into my favorite room. I call my new bathroom “My Spa.” I wanted to create a beach effect on the shower floor using blue and white sliced pebbles. Stan encouraged me to put the pebbles throughout the rest of the floor as well as coordinating a ten-inch wide floor to ceiling cascade of pebbles to create a waterfall effect. To accommodate more storage, a floor to ceiling corner cabinet was built to match the pebble floor. Every detail was carefully thought out… from the quartz countertops to the light fixture which makes light appear as if it is coming out of thin air. My new bathroom is a jewel. Each time I step into it, I feel like I am on a tropical vacation. Stan and David knew that I was very concerned about the disruption the renovation would because as I was still going to live there as the construction was going on. From the moment the demolition started, everything went like clockwork. David covered all my furniture and floors and created a pathway so I could navigate around the construction. I never had a moment of inconvenience, dust or dirt. Stan and David supervised the project daily. The tradespeople were top notch, respectful and cleaned up each day. I cannot recommend Wright Street Design highly enough!!

Wright Street design is amazing! We have done three projects with them and are starting on a fourth. In our first renovation we completely remodeled the kitchen, dining room, and living room. They also built a second kitchen, large pantries, and an exercise area for me out of empty space in our lower level. We just finished an impressive bath using all marble tile. We “went down to the studs” removing everything including the previous tile shower. Currently we are starting on upgrading another bath as well as remodeling of an office and craft room. Since I have had bad experiences with architects who wanted to build what they thought what I should want rather than what I did want, I was a little leery of starting with a new group of architects. The first question I asked Stan when I was interviewing individuals for the job was “Are you willing to work with a person who wants to be very involved with the project? Stan and his design-build firm allowed me to be as involved as I wanted to be. We worked together seamlessly. I had certain ideas, and Stan had other ideas for the design that I would never have thought of. Together, I ended up with the most beautiful home that I could ever imagine. It would never have looked that way without Stan and his artistic sense. The other side of the firm was David, Stan’s associate, who worked with all the trades. They use the same workmen on every job so they make sure the quality is the same every time. They all are great guys and exceptionally talented workmen. David worked right along with them, both supervising and taking care of everything that they needed. He, too, is very pleasant in spite of being a perfectionist. It’s obvious that the tradesmen (and we) all respect him. I would certainly recommend Wright Street Design without any reservations. Big projects or small, they work with the same amount of excellence in design and in building.

We went to Stan Monroe after purchasing a small one-story house and he helped us transform it into the beautiful house that we now call home. The project involved reducing the previous existing house down to the foundation, and then expanding the foundation to accommodate for a larger structure. Stan worked with us on the design of a new two-story home, taking into account technical details such as the original house’s footprint and lot restrictions. He ultimately designed a home with the look, feel, and functionality we were looking for. This past spring we came back to Wright Street Design to complete the final step of our project – a new garage and shop. We are grateful to and highly recommend Wright Street Design.

We have lived in our Wright Street Design Group home for 20 years now, and still love it. Every time people from near and far, both in and outside of the country see it, they marvel at the design. To this day, we wouldn't change a thing....it's timeless. Both the quality and design are top of the line, with details that differentiate them from any other builder.. Every home from Wright Street is uniquely designed to the individuals taste. We would definitely use them again, if we ever chose to build another home. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Over the years, we have worked with 4 architects on various projects. Stan Monroe and his design-build firm have been the most thoughtful, thorough and artistically competent of the group. Stan is the consummate professional. He found solutions to issues that would stump others. His attention to the smallest details made it a joy to work with him and his staff. He listens to your likes and dislikes and offers choices that easily fit with your tastes. All of this made our project fun and stress-free. We give Stan our very highest recommendation. We enthusiastically recommend working with Stan Monroe (Wright Street Design Group). From start to finish, Stan was professional, accessible, and an absolute pleasure to work with. We remodeled our kitchen, laundry room, powder room, back hallway, and two decks. Since Stan was both our architect and builder, we were able to tweak our project along the way, which was invaluable to us. Stan is a magician when it comes to utilizing space. Without adding any square footage, we now have more counter space, more cabinet space, and several other new bonus spaces. His subcontractors were all fabulous. Stan also functioned as our designer, helping us choose cabinets, countertops, a tile backsplash, and a myriad of other extra touches. His vision was spot on. Stan’s project manager, David, is a gem. David was on site throughout the project, always paying great attention to detail, and couldn’t be easier to work with. We are delighted with the final product, and would unquestionably go straight back to Stan with any future project.

Wright Street Design Group designed plans for our home renovation. Stan Monroe exceeded our expectations with his vision for our kitchen addition, dining room and family room renovations, exterior front and back porches. Stan was considerate when evaluating our needs/style and patient and responsive when we suggested a few changes to the original blueprints. He has a great eye and even lended his expertise when we presented interior design and color options to him. We would highly recommend him for any architectural/building projects!

From beginning to end we could not be happier with all the work we have had done by Wright Street Design. Stanley designed and realized every wish we had for our space. Creating a luxurious master suite. Complete with stone work, custom wood work and lighting that sets the mood. David (Stanley's assistant) was always onsite and available for any request we had, which was an enormous benefit. Everyone (carpenters,plumbers,electricians,painters tile setter and the,HVAC people ) that Stanley had working on our job were professional, courteous, and very pleasurable to work with. We continue to look to Stanley and his crew for help with other projects we have on our property. We would highly recommend Wright Street Design for any project big or small!

We hired Wright Street Design Group to build a 4 season sunroom attached to our main house. Our home was built in 1960 by Alden Dow, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, and we wanted this add-on room to look as if it had been here all along. Stan Monroe, the WSDG architect, studied our blueprints/Dow's architecture and came up with a design that met that goal to perfection. Stan uses the best people to work with be they electricians, carpenters, people who lay tile, etc. He also listened to our opinions and was very responsive. He is a delight to work with. His billings are detailed and his charges appropriate. We recommend him with enthusiasm.

Our first project working with Stan Monroe, owner of Wright Street Design was the conversion of our lower level walk out basement into a complete living suite. This was back in 2003. Stan provided a plan, a budget and a timeline. We worked with him on material choices and design adjustments. For the most part we were very pleased with Stan’s choices which made it easy for us. In that project he created a storage and utility portion to the basement area and dedicated the rest to living space. Stan had contractors relocate and upgrade the furnace and AC and put in a three zone duct system and up size the water heater. The living area consists of a large bedroom with a full wall closet, bathroom with tiled steam shower and custom vanity with a full wall mirror, and nook dining area, a wet bar, sink, lots of counter space and built in custom oak cabinets and a small refrigerator. He brought in a tile artisan who laid in some beautiful tile designs in the steam shower. The wet bar area has a beautiful clear sealed oak hardwood floor. This area also has custom cabinets under the bar and behind the bar and glass displace cabinets above the back counter, all constructed in oak. In the living area the south wall includes a bay window, two sliding doors and a couple large picture windows which lets in lots of light and great views. Stan designed in a very high stepped recessed ceiling that compliment this open feeling. He also installed wiring ports in a couple locations that allowed me to add a small home theater system. On a nice day with the doors open it can be like an outdoor theater. Coming down the stairs he put in a built in offset continuous hardwood handrail with a wrap at the top and bottom. This project completed pretty much on schedule and in budget. It added an additional one thousand square feet of living space to our home. Since then this space has been home for mother-in-law(s), visiting family and friends, lots of gatherings, and temporary lodging for newly weds. Being very pleased with out first engagement with Wright Street Design we asked Stan to help us with the redesign of our family room. This was not as large of a project but it involved more custom detail work. Again Stan provided a quote with budget and timeline. This was a main floor family room with floor to ceiling windows along one wall. On the opposing wall Stan designed floor to ceiling multi tiered bookcase style shelving and lower matching cabinets all done in cherrywood. This included inset display lighting, adjustable shelving and inset ports to wire bookshelf speakers. The end cabinet section has a custom wood grill and space inside to house a subwoofer out of site. The drawer above is huge and deep, designed to store various media, wireless headphones, charges and controllers. By the windows and fireplace wall Stan designed a custom television stand much like an entertainment center only low profile so we have full view out the windows beyond the TV. Speakers are set in behind three custom wood grills. The unit is made of matching cherry wood. The equipment sits unnoticed behind smoked glasses doors. On top there is a matching flat wood pedestal that swivels. We have a 40” digital display sitting on that which can be easily turned to any viewing angle. Tying the walls together Stan designed a three tier fireplace mantel of cherry, replacing the old one. He also replaced the fireplace surround with polished granite and put in a remote ignition. Similar to the previous project Stan completed some work with his own team and other parts using various contractors and suppliers. At no time have we ever felt uncomfortable or untrusting of anyone he brought into our home. Everyone did quality work and were respectful of our time, property and privacy. This project was done on time and in budget. In 2006 we hired Wright Street Design again. We had been to several home design shows and spoken with home designers and builders on the Parade of Homes, and still gravitated back to Stan for his quality, style and workmanship. We have wanted a room that could be used for business and a home office. We had a spare undefined room we could use for this but it was located near the front door on the main floor. Stan came up with a fantastic layout. The room has custom build-in all cherrywood cabinets all the way to the ceiling and including cherry counter tops with multiple file drawers on each side. All the above counter cabinets have glass doors and adjustable shelving. Incorporated into each side of the room is a large desktop work surface with under-counter keyboard tray. Also below each desktop is a side shelf tall enough for a workstation computer or a printer. Underneath the desktop are 4” wood trimmed trays running along the wall just above the wall plugs that hold any wires or cables off the floor. This room has a bay style window with two casement windows on each side. Below these windows Stan installed a full length polished marble counter and two sets of three pull out drawers for office supplies and miscellaneous storage beneath the counter. On the entrance side of the room there is a floor to ceiling corner cupboard allowing for major amounts of storage, with five adjustable shelves. Next to this cupboard he designed a matching set of mail box cubbies and below that a dual shelf storage area with a cherry wood roll top closure. The room door is glass panes and a has a sound seal that drops down when closed. This project was mostly custom cabinet work. Delivery took a little longer than planned, but the project was in budget and done well. Our most recent home project was an interesting undertaking and again after considering alternative contractors it was easy to choose Wright Street Design. We decided we would like to have some type of deck or porch off the side of the house and an expanded patio area. Stan presented a number design options to us. This project involved removing a single tall window from the side wall of our living room and putting in French doors leading on to a 20 x 35 foot deck. We went with a 3 season style room with 13 exchangeable glass or screen panels that wrap around three sides. The panels are large but manageable. There were some very sophisticated window enclosure options that he presented but the panels were the most cost effective and basically simple. The porch was built over sloped part of the yard. To make working with the panels even easier Stan designed a trap door in the floor over the lowest part of the slope. We are able remove panels and place them right into a holding rack in the floor. No worries about where to store them. The floor planks are made of composite material and always look great and require minimal care. The frame sits on nine substantial poured concrete piers. The base is enclosed with panels and composite lattice with a varmint screen barrier buried around the perimeter. The shingle roof is tied into the house roofline with the gutters extending around the pouch. There is a back door and stairs leading to a huge sweeping patio that connects to the house front entrance. The patio has a long slow curve that is about 30 feet long and is about 8 to 15 feet wide on average. Stan used beautiful blue stone slabs and redesigned the concrete work going to the front door to tie in the stone. He also installed new drainage in the front flower garden to manage runoff from the patio. We contracted this project off season to save a little money and it allow some of the contractors to have a project during the winter months. Again the subcontractors the Stan brought in for this project were very professional. We didn't rush the project because it ran through the winter and the guys did not work if the weather was too cold or conditions were not appropriate. We did not have a hard timeline to be finished. The patio work came last in the spring. We were under budget using the window panels but went over budget with our choice of bluestone. Overall it is a fantastic addition and the most used room for two thirds of the year and worth every bit of the extra cost. Stan is a great person to work with. He has great design ideas and is an expert architect. We have had experience with other contractors in our previous homes and none compare to the great satisfaction we have gotten from working with Stan Monroe, owner of Wright Street Design.
