"I believe everyone deserves to be surrounded by beauty; it is integral to what makes us human.” With a Master of Architecture degree, all 3 Interior Design licensing exams, and many years' experience at large firms under my belt, my boutique firm specializes in creating homes that are both beautiful and functional. Working one-on-one with homeowners since 2004, I have realized the most important thing is to LISTEN to the client, so that I can create the perfect dream space just for them. We invest a lot in our homes, so they better meet our needs and suit our tastes. Today, it is not the project that excites me as much as the prospective client. As a painting contractor I came across innumerous clients, interior designers and architects. Village West Design is one of the best that I work with. Daniel and Millison were amazing to work with. Daniel Smith at Village West Design took over our remodel in Novato when we were hopelessly lost and over our heads trying to be our own designer and contractor and made our new home a showplace. He had innovative ideas but also understood the science of design. I would recommend using Daniel for your home improvement and remodel plans because he is highly trained not only in the physical job of remodeling but all the psychological factors in play between the owner and contractor in successfully completing the job.

Cannot praise Village West Design enough. They performed (excellently) what I can only describe as crisis design. We engaged Village West Design for a complete interior home remodel after we hired a contractor, who was nearly impossible to work with, and within a very compressed time frame of two months. Village West Design saved us from major remodel blunders and kept the project on track to a successful completion.

I hired Daniel and his team to consult with me on how to style my stairs and upstairs hallway in my Victorian farmhouse. The space is dramatic but very awkward due to every wall being a different height! Daniel gave me great advice on how to decorate the space without making it too busy or take away from the dramatic windows. I have just enough interior design training to be dangerous, but I was really stuck on what to do with this space. Daniel taught me how to look at it differently and how to think about the concept of "rhythm" in a way that I had not ever grasped before. His advice was super helpful, and now I know what direction to go with that space. I am grateful for his creativity, objectivity and helping me to gain clarity.
