ULTIMATE HARDWOOD LTD

Ultimate Hardwood (Hereinafter referred to as "UHW") was contacted at the end of January 2017 to perform an estimate of our hardwood floors refinishing. Initial recommendation was to use a Rubio Monocoat product. During the sanding phase, UHW recommends Oidie's Oil Dark as a better product & sent information for review (Odie's Oil claims that the product is "Water and stain proof—no spotting" and can be refreshed by "buffing on a light application if ever desired" -- We agree with the new product recommendation. On April 10th, the refinishing was completed and we were advised not to move furniture into the house for 72 hours and full cure would be in 2 weeks. Everything was fine until we started noticing problems 3-4 weeks after initial application of the Odie's Oil product. Water was splashed out of the sink and several drops got on the floor, water spots were visible (After wiping away immediately with a microfiber cloth). We contacted UHW to inquire about what cleaning product to use -- UHW ends up recommending a vinegar/water solution to clean floors & also states "The finish shouldn't spot". This solution does not work & the water spots remained. We contact UHW on May 9th to request a visit to the home for a floor inspection. UHW doesn't inspect floors until May 28th & agrees that there is a problem, stating he would discuss the issue with Odie's Oil & that he would have to either perform a mechanical buff or complete a re-oiling (At this point there are water spots, wipe & track marks that are not removable). UHW states floor will need to be re-oiled & we both agree on August 3rd (Allowing 10 days for the floor to cure without interruption while we are away on holiday). On June 19th, we contacted UHW with concerns about filler material coming out between the floorboards in places and if we should be even more concerned if it starts to occur anywhere else (UHW states this is normal on June 26th). Actual date of the re-oil does not occur until August 8th (UHW stated UPS lost his initial order of Odie's Oil & that he was going to have to perform the re-oil on Friday, August 4th -- which did not occur). Also prior to notifying us, we had e-mailed UHW expressing our concern with the lack of communication, wondering what was going on, frustration with having less than 5 days for the floor to cure while on vacation, expressing dissatisfaction. UHW's response was that the re-oil was a "professional courtesy" and that they are in no way responsible for maintenance or cleaning after the fact (Even though UHW stated and confirmed previously there was an issue with the initial application of the product and that he was going to resolve the problem). UHW also informs us that we could possibly have a humidity and cupping issue & that the re-oil was not optimal (Note that no humidity readings were provided up until this point -- On April 8th UHW stated that after sanding, the floors were in rough condition but are now "very flat". There is no mention of any evidence of damage from moisture or humidity, also no humidity test results were provided). After returning home from holiday, we noticed visible circular buff marks & shoe prints in multiple areas. We requested a response as to why we were not notified of the supposed humidity issue prior to performing the re-oil, no response was given. Attached are pictures of the issues after the second re-oiling. Also note that we have e-mails & other photos backing up the review above.

Ultimate hardwood is a top notch operation. Mike goes above and beyond with customer service. I have a flooring company in the US and Mike has gone out of his way to share his knowledge with me. If you're looking for a honest expert in the hardwood field Ultimate hardwood is your guy!

Although I cannot attest to Michael's work, I can attest to his expertise and willingness to offer advice even when nothing is in it for him. I found Ultimate Hardwood LTD through a Houzz discussion on finishing a Restoration Hardware table and he was giving advice to many people with attention to detail and suggestions. Mike was so helpful with my walnut countertop project. I was having a problem with white rings on my waxed finish. Mike to the rescue with the suggestion of the Rubio Monocoat oil system. He advised me on removing the wax and applying the oil. The countertop looks beautiful!!

Mike was extremely informative and helpful with his knowledge of hardwood flooring. He was able to easily decifer the look I was wanting and we went with the Rubio finish. We had honey oak floors that needed new red oak feathered in. He matched and sanded and you would never know the old from the new. Absolute perfection. The end result Far surpassed anything I had hoped for. The floors look stunning with the Rubio finish. Mike was very professional through the whole process and answered my million and one questions along the way. He was always very prompt at getting back to me. Michael from ultimate hardwood was easy to reach by internet or phone. He was polite and considerate, listening carefully to what and how I wanted my old hardwood floors redone, he also did a great job of adding to my baseboards so that I wouldn't have to remove them. I was very happy with my living and dining room floors, both the color and the satin finish.. They are nice than when they were new in 1966.

Michael provided excellent advice regarding wood flooring options. He was knowledgeable and informative without trying to sell a particular option. Specifically he helped us through the selection of reputable manufacturers and gave hints and recommendations regarding installation and maintenance. I have been searching for this information on the web and many other sources only to find conflicting or inaccurate information. Michael's information was complete and concise. I recommend that if you have a question regarding hardwood or engineered wood you run it by his firm first. He will help you avoid a future headache.

Mike did an awesome job on our hardwood refinishing. Changed the finish from satin to a matte Rubio that is beautiful and puts up with the traffic of three kids and two dogs. Great craftsmanship and creativity!

We hired Ultimate Hardwood to refinish our red oak floors. 20 years of use had resulted in some serious wear. We opted for Rubio Monocoat (dog friendly and no VOC issues). We got a very competitive quote and the job was done for that amount. Virtually no dust: a simple wiping of the walls was needed. Professional and on time. No issues whatsoever. We'd hire Ultimate Hardwood again to do future projects. The final finish was excellent and the care and attention to detail was superb.

We hired him to do the project: installing hardwood on the entire top floor (bedrooms, office and hallway) and the family room on lower level. He was very efficient; arriving early every morning and working until late afternoon each day to get the job done with as little disruption in our home as possible. He also built two sets of wood stairways where carpet had been removed, which look fantastic.
