BEAUTY IS INTENTIONAL.... I am very blessed to be part of a profession that literally participates in building a better world. Whether it is wrapping new space around the lives we want to live or simply providing extra room to grow, there is a real joy and beauty to it all. I have spent my life in construction. From early work as a carpenter, study and practice as an architect, to field work as a construction foreman, I have enjoyed the puzzle each new project presents. Each home is unique, because each client is unique. We begin the design of every new home with the most important element — you. And we design your home in the most important style — yours. It is the only way to create a truly custom home. In the beginning, you will start with ideas. While ideas can have poetic aspirations, they are more-often-than-not simple and easy, and expressed through words, pictures, sketches, etc. They become our common language as we proceed and provide the context we will build the home around. Our ideas of home encompass more than just the structure, but involve a sense of place. So just as the home is built around you, the project must also be anchored to the site, respecting the adjacent natural or urban fabric, responding to light, and capturing views. If we will embrace a historical architectural style, my primary concern will be to detail the home accurately. Certain established architectural styles have survived, and continue to flourish today, because of the time-tested beauty of their massing and detailing, so getting these right is essential. That said, of equal importance is integrating the historical detailing with an artful design/layout that flows and is clean, warm and relaxed.
