Gittleman recently remodeled our master bathroom, creating something that was both beautiful and much more functional for us. One of the nice things about working with them is that they have a very well-established system for communication with various members of their team. We always felt informed and knew exactly what to expect at every step, which made the project flow as smoothly as possible. They worked with us to understand our vision, offering suggestions and ideas that we hadn’t considered. We would highly recommend them to anyone given their professionalism, innovative ideas, and attention to detail. We plan on hiring them again down the road for future projects with our home.

The team at Gittleman is great! I had a vision of what I wanted and Scott was able to bring that vision to life. When I said "Kosher Kitchen," he never skipped a beat! Doug, my project manager was incredible, answering all of my questions, showing how the jobs get done, and even gave me recommendations when I needed a couple of them. My home is beautiful, CALM, and a place that I can truly call home. We are very happy with our two renovated bathrooms. Gittleman Construction has a terrific staff who return phone calls, answer questions, and arrive on time for meetings. Their design consultant was very helpful in choosing tile, paint colors, and countertops. Their construction manager sent me email updates and "progress" photos because my husband and I were in Florida during the renovation. For six months we left our home in Gittleman's capable hands. It was fabulous returning home to a completed project without having to witness any part of the demolition, noise, dust, etc.

I would highly recommend Gittleman construction company. They completely restored my two bathrooms which I am very delighted with. Gittleman‘s also replaced my hot water heater and updated the plumbing in my house which was built in 1957. Everyone I came in contact with from the beginning to the end was professional, informed, had great work ethics and friendly. They listen to what I wanted and did their best to accommodate me from choosing the design, the tile, fixtures, paint, hardware, etc. The tradesmen they used came in, did their work, and cleaned up before they left even if they had to come back to finish the job. Gittleman Construction is a wonderful company to work with.

Gittleman Construction and Scott, Vera, Doug and Johnny were great! Scott's vision, Doug's daily management of the job, Johnny's troubleshooting, persistence and high quality work, along with Vera's clear and concise accounting all led to a great end result! We love our house!

It was time for a little update in our home of 30 years and that is when we made a call to Scott Gittleman. We had seen a number of homes in the area that Gittleman Construction had done over the past few years and we were very impressed. Given the limitations imposed by the COVID Pandemic we knew that the timing of our project was not ideal but Scott and his exceptional team were so accommodating and professional. We had a very detailed plan in place and Adam, the foreman of our project, communicated with us almost daily and kept us apprised of the work that was being done each and every week. The entire Gittleman Team was remarkable, kind, and so very patient. The construction workers were in our home almost daily and before they finished for the day, our home was left clean and orderly. They were so respectful given our need to live in the home during the renovations which occurred in our main bedroom suite and bathroom, our kitchen and our laundry room. The finished project in each area was just beautiful and we would highly recommend Scott and the entire Gittleman Team!

We used Gittleman Construction for 2 large projects: one in 2013 and the latest in 2021-2022. They did a great job both times and we especially enjoyed working with Adam, the foreman on the latest job. Scott Gittleman is a great architect and his designs blend in seamlessly with our home.

The Gittleman crew has become like family to us. Our mudroom addition has been plagued by delays, supply chain issues--things every construction project has to deal with right now, and through it all, they have been super helpful, responsive, and communicative with us, even when there were really no new updates to give. Every time I have had a question or been curious about making a change -- they have been right there on top of it. The work they do is absolutely exceptional. Our project has turned out so much better than I could have ever imagined and it is because every worker on the site truly cares about what they do, and is an artist and expert craftsman. The third party contractors they recommended have also been outstanding and I feel very fortunate that every hand that has touched our home has been one that genuinely cares about delivering the highest standard of work. Honestly, I could go on. I just love these guys on a personal and professional level. They made me laugh and smile every day through this project, and I will genuinely miss having them around when they are gone.

Scott is an absolute professional with a high taste and skill level. He is creative and flexible. Would love to build from scratch with Gittleman!

We loved working with Scott and his team. Our sun room aka (happy place) is where we spent all our time. It's a beautiful room. Scott's team were very professional and worked to get the room finished as soon as possible without disturbing us while we lived there. I have no complaints, only good things to say.

Gittleman Construction has remodeled most of our house and the work is always top shelf. Our kitchen came out exactly what I wanted and they even found a way to get a bigger island in. My favorite part of our house is the outdoor living space they constructed in 2020. The space is fully equipped with an outdoor TV, fireplace and heaters for the winter or cool evening. I have recommended them to friends and family and will continue to do so.

Scott Gittleman himself is talented and professional. Our extensive kitchen remodel was carefully measured and plotted on drawings that Scott produced. When Gittleman ran into sub-floor issues during the job, they saw what needed to get done in the basement (to shore up the floor) and got it done. Another issue with the roof vent was similarly corrected. The problems we faced, as I'm sure are common in the industry, are the lack of subcontractors showing up in a timely manner, especially the electricians. Mistakes were made in ordering doors and windows. The mistakes were corrected, but at the cost of needless delay. Some of the details that should have been attended to on-site at the time of construction, were not attended to until after we said that we were not satisfied, but then they were fixed. I'd give 3.50 stars as a rating if I could.

If I could give them zero stars I would. What a complete mess. Horrible lack of communication between the builder, superintendent (that you pay for) and us the home owners. I could write a 3 page review about everything that went wrong. The biggest issues we are currently dealing with is that our brand new laundry room flooded because the carpenters put a nail in the hot water hose. Of course they said it was our responsibility to pay for it because they did nothing wrong. So we had a brand new laundry room full of growing mold. I have talked to other carpenters after this happened and they said that, “yes, this sometime happens and our builders always cover the cost.” When I told the owner this, Scott, he said "well they don't know the story or know what you are talking about." No, I told them the story of how they hit a nail in the line. We had to pay $700 + to fix a brand new laundry room and now we have backless cabinets. I had told the owner from the beginning that I wanted to save the dark hardwood floors we had just put in a year ago in the original house. As you can see with the pictures they took zero steps to protect the floor. I emailed and texted him over and over again to cover the flooring. Then they were going to charge me to clean these floors. I had to replace half of them because they were so damaged. The supervisor was hardly there to check on the subs work. Although we paid $30,000 + for the supervisor to be there. I had to pay quite a bit more for my hardware to be hung by Gentleman's men even when the subs had bid only $500.00 to do it. They paid them before they checked to see if the work had been completed. Their excuse was that I didn't have the hardware in time. It took 2 days for it to come in when I was told finally to order it. They never told me when that needed to be done. My 2nd floor is freezing all of the time because the 2nd zone was never installed like we had requested. The HVAC guy even said to me, “I know that you told me that and it was on the first bid.” “Not sure what happened.” They also hooked up our boiler wrong (which they almost missed). The domestic hot water line was not hooked up and they had one of the valves upside-down. My husband had to fix that because he didn't want them to mess it up again. I honestly could go on and on. Anything that was damaged they said that it was our responsibility to pay after the fact. I asked where we had signed that in writing and of course they could not produce that. The owners response to us was ..."life is short." Please do your research, read other reviews and call references.

It is with great pleasure that I highly recommend Scott Gittleman Construction. From the start to the finish, he and his crew were professional and responsive. Scott is a man of integrity and he completed my project to perfection.

Expectations setting of timing to completion was mediocre. Cost approximating was also average. Sub contractor management was below average. Site clean up was also average. Inside finishes we’re good. Client has to be persistent to get response. Scott is a very nice guy but we were 6 months delayed from original estimate.

How do i begin? Scott Gittleman is the owner and becomes part of your family. He oversees every part of the project and makes sure the job is done in the most efficient, economical, and creative way possible. His team is amazing. Doug his foreman is always there to lead the way making sure the job is done exactly as the customer wants. There are no surprises! The Gittleman craftsman are the best in the industry. The quality of their work speaks for themselves. Living in your home during construction is not easy but working with all the crew has been a pleasure and and a wonderful investment. I have done four remodeling projects over 14 years. I would call them again to design and build any project. Scott operates a well run company with wonderful employees and sub-contractors.

We did a significant project adding approximately 900 square feet and reconfiguring the roof line on a 1960's ranch updating about 80% of the home. Scott did a great job on the architectural design. The rough construction and finish work were excellent. There could probably have been better (meaning more efficient) project management. Cappy Heating and Air Conditioning was exceptional. We wanted to do some work ourselves and Scott and his team accommodated this which took extra coordination on their part. We waited for the one year warranty period prior to reviewing and one year after completion have had no issues with any of the work that was done. Scott and his team were professional and good to work with throughout the project. We would use Gittleman Construction again.

This construction company completed their third project for me. If you want it done the best you need to go to the best. This place is the best. Kurt the superintendent did awesome and the owner Scott is a pleasure to deal with. Why only 5 stars....because they don't allow more

I would give zero stars if I could. If you love your house, beware of Gittleman. We unfortunately hired this company back in 2014 (better late than never to review) to work on our house after flooding from frozen, burst pipes. Biggest mistake we could have ever done to our mental health and poor home. We should have done more researching before hiring this egregious company. It took months and endless outside contractors to relace/install floors in 3 rooms and gut 2 half baths. One of which had mold that we ended up doing ourselves because we were lied to. And painting. It would take way too long to list the number of issues we had. There are plenty of good construction companies out there...stay away from this one, please!

Gittleman Construction has done several projects in our home and all came out amazing. I love my new kitchen, bathroom, bar and front porch of my home. I am currently working with them to update the laundry room. I would highly recommend their services.

S|A|M Interiors worked with Gittleman Construction on a project that turned out wonderful. It was featured in Detroit Home Magazine, On the Water Making a Splash, June-July 2016. Scott and his team were a pleasure to coordinate with on all of the details and selections that our client made.

We hired Gittleman for the design and build of the renovation and new addition of our home. It was as positive an experience as we could have hoped for. Our project involved a complete renovation/relocation of the kitchen, living and dining rooms, a new master suite addition, new garage addition and complete exterior renovation (windows, siding and trim). The project cost was just as we anticipated, and was completed in the time anticipated. We lived in the house during the work. Every Gittleman employee was considerate, professional and respectful. The project supervisor was always on top of work being done, anticipating problems before they developed and communicating all that was happening. Happily, I highly recommend Gittleman Construction. And will hire them again myself, if the opportunity arises.

From the start of our project we felt like we were in good hands. They listened - made good recommendations - and when issues arose they competently handled them. This was my third Reno and by far the best experience. I have an amazing new kitchen, bath and main floor. They were very accurate in first budget estimates (it was my fault the budget went up) Their designer listened and made choices easy for us. WE LOVE OUR NEW HOME.

I had some renovation performed on my home in the Spring of 2010 and today I learn that I received a patched plumbing job in my bathroom and now there is mold in the wall behind the vanity. Evidently putty was used to seal and patch a known leak instead doing proper installation of plumbing work and now this is the result. Mold behind the wall and now I have to pay someone to tear the wall out and use proper plumbing fixtures in the wall to fix this leak and get rid of the mold!!!!

We thought Gittleman did such a great job with our basement that we are going to use them for another project shortly.

We needed the rear roof extended, the deck rebuilt and a new drain system created for the deck. We also wanted electric screens installed. The end result was much better than we could have asked for. What was an open air space in need of repairs was transformed into a 12' x 30' luxury poarch. Gittleman installed an amazing floor drain system that has the entire floor serve as a drain. You have to see it to believe it. Perhaps most amazing was the quality of workmanship. There wasn't a single Gittleman employee or subcontractor that wasn't the top of their trade. Bottom line...we got what we paid for and then some.

This is the second time we used Gittleman Construction and we were very disappointed. The first remodel (2002) was overall a terrific experience. This experience was totally different and unnecessarily stressful. The design and function of our home is good. We receive lots of compliments. However, the addition was not done in a timely manner, the project was not very well managed and the attention to detail was lacking. It was frequently difficult to get questions answered. The owner admitted we were not the only ones complaining about the project management and lackluster customer service.

Thanks to Gittleman Construction, our house has been transformed from a dated, unattractive colonial to a fresh, modern, warm home. Everyone on their team was incredibly nice and accommodating, and we truly could not be more pleased with the finished product. We love our home.

I hired Scott to fix a couple of rooms for better storage and give me a resort like feel from two different extremes and he "Nailed"it!!!

We added 1500 square feet to the first floor of our house. We enlarged the family room and added a master suite that includes a private study, two huge closets and his and her bathrooms. The project flowed seamlessly from beginning to end. Scott Gittleman, our contractor, is a true gentleman. He was faithful to his word every step of the way. He has assembled an incredible team of highly skilled people who always showed up on time, were respectful, and even offered help to my husband and I when large objects were delivered that were too heavy for us to carry. The result of out project is an absolutely gorgeous home of the highest quality! Everyone who has seen it has raved about it! Completely redesigned and refitted the kitchen. New cabinets, counters, and sink. Moved sink and dishwasher, refrigerator. Removed island and built L-shaped peninsula. Did a great job. Quality materials and work. Only downfall, and very minor, was underestimation of timeline.

Gittleman Construction looked at our needs and desires and gave us several options at different levels of price, time commitment, and scope of work. My family did 2 big projects with Gittleman construction and we were very happy with the results. Scott Gittleman designed both a lakefront remodel and a finished basement in our current home a few years later. His team was sharp, neat, and respectful. Both jobs looked great upon completion and his staff was first class. The remodel included the lakeside wall removed and replaced with a two story wall of glass, a new kitchen and hard wood floors. It sold in 7 days in a bad market because of Gittleman's design and quality work. We hired Gittleman Construction to remove limestone from the front of our three story home, re-engineer and replace faulty metal braces, clean and re-attach the limestone. They were professional and prompt in their work, the project manager was very good at communicating the work schedule, and they were technically very good with this somewhat complex and tedious project. We would hire them again and have referred them to friends for their re-modeling projects.

GCI operates at the highest levels of trust, integrity, craftsmanship, and quality of work. From the complete renovation of my home, to the most awkward types of handyman projects, Gittleman has been my go to resource for over 6 years. I have never been disappointed in the outcome.

The planning stage was a very pleasant experience. Follow up was good and all questions were answered. We felt very comfortable going with Gittleman Construction. We were told that our bathroom remodel would take 6-8 weeks. It ended up taking 11 weeks. There were weeks when the contractors didn't show up. Additionally, the original agreement ended up being considerably less than the actual amount paid out (18% more). There were some upgrades that were approved but certain items that should have been included in the price came extra i.e. closet install, tiling of ceiling, fan, etc.

(2009) Granite entry and hallway with improved return air ductwork. (2013) Kitchen remodel; powder room remodel; and updated toilets and faucets in 2 bathrooms.

Project was done on a timely, professional, and a need to make sure we were satisfied with the final project.

Second job I had done by Scott. Excellent services and communication. This was a siding job for my home--it looks great!

The job included replacing some rotted and weathered wood around our house. They installed some siding, gutters, downspouts and a portion of support beams. Also, removed and replaces some rotted door and window frames. Very impressed with the supervisor and workers for their knowledge, skill, and complete clean up.

Adding to our home was a big decision and we wanted to work with someone who was trustworthy, communicative, and had a great reputation in the community. Gittleman was all of the above and more. Our job was completed in a timely fashion and our budget was respected. It's been a little over seven years and we still love our addition. Quality materials were used and we have had NO issues. I continue to recommend this company on a regular basis and will be using them again in the near future.

Horrible experience with a big remodel/addition. 6 years later, most of the plumbing has leaked and caused us expensive repairs. Now the roof is leaking, which will necessitate more repairs to interior. We would go weeks with no one showing up. Promises were made and not kept. Owner was rude and never took responsibility. Cost was over $150,000. During the project, 3 different city inspectors commented, "What happened with this guy?" They had known his business to do good work. They were very annoyed and shocked at the sloppiness, poor quality, and lack of dependability. We had been on the fence between this contractor and another at the time of signing. We continue to regret the decision to hire Gittleman.

We needed work on the inside and outside of our home about 8 years ago and after interviewing numerous companies we decided to go with Gittleman Construction. We were completely satisfied. Their work was professional and beyond our expectations. The professionalism and work ethic aside, the work was done timely, efficiently and the clean-up for us was non-existent. We are now in need of more work to be done and we are using Gittleman Construction again. I highly recommend this company for so many reasons, but the most important is that they are just a pleasure to deal with and honorable. You must TRUST who you work with and these are the people that you can TRUST!

We were gifted an addition to our home by an anonymous donor after adopting our neighbors children after the kids parents passed away!! We quickly needed additional bedrooms for our home so that the kids felt like this was their home as well!! Gittleman construction stepped right up and made the project happen! Our plans were done free of charge as an additional gift plus additional services from the owner were made available because of our situation which we are forever gratedful!! The addition blends seemlessly with our original home!! The staff in the office were outstanding and super easy to work with! The workers from start to finish were professional, very kind and polite and the addition was cleaned daily with no dust leaking into our home! I can't say enough! We had an amazing experience with Gittleman! The business is both professional and with heart! We couldn't ask for more!

I was very pleased to have Scott come in and assume responsibility for a job that was very difficult and had not been properly performed by our prior contractor. We had some creative ideas that Scott helped us develop and accomplish and improved on the approach ultimately taken. We receive numerous compliments and would hire Scott again or recommend him to others. We have completed at least 4 or 5 other major renovation projects and we are both attorenys so we are educated and fairly sophisticated construction consumers so to keep us happy is a big accomplishment.

We needed a reliable contractor to build an addition for us since my father, who is disabled, lives with us a certain portion of the year. We interviewed different firms and came to the conclusion that Gittleman was the most dependable company in our geographic area. The workers were extremely professional and friendly, and moreover, the work site was always cleaned up day's end. Overall, I am very satisfied by my choice. I recommend Gittleman unconditionally.

Scott did a great job on our remodel. We added a garage, refinished 3000 sq ft of basement and did a master bath remodel. Everything was done efficiently and expertly. We bid the job out to two other contractors and Gittleman's bid was the lowest!

Renovation of kitchen/powder/bar in 1912 Craftsman style home. The team that worked on our home was fantastic. Quality was truly amazing. Their carpenter handmade on-site oak moldings to match the existing 1912 woodwork. Their in-house designer helped narrow all the interior finish choices otherwise we'd still be choosing. The Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC teams had their hands full with this old house, but had the experience and creativity to make it seamless. The new hardwood flooring matches incredibly well with the existing. When they left, it looked like the changes were built with the house. They were very fussy on keeping the job site clean. No complaints from any of the neighbors over the course of the project. Communication and Change Orders...yes we had a lot...mostly driven by us. All changes and costs were laid out in writing and required our sign-off. No surprises. Demo crew was meticulous about saving re-usable materials and getting our approval before disposal. They are not the cheapest guys on the block, but you get what you pay for.

We hired Gittleman to remodel our family room. We had used them previously to put in a new front porch. They did such an outstanding job on the porch, that we still get praises from passersby. They did a similarly great job on our family room. In actuality, their work "transformed" the overall appearance of the family room. Everthing was top-notch, from the workmanship to the individual contractors. I can't give them a high enough rating and highly recommend them for any home improvement.

Following extensive damage from a burst insta hot water pipe, the company was hired to renovate. The project involved essentially redoing the bathroom and bedroom on the floor below the kitchen. Mr. Gittleman and his employees are people of great integrity. The job was done to our satisfaction within a reasonable time frame. Throughout the process we felt that our home and our life inside the home were respected by all involved. We asked Gittleman Construction to bid on the renovation of our master bathroom, building out a plan that had been developed by a local interior design firm. Scott Gittleman came out to bid the job and said that while he would return with the requested quote, he thought that the space could be better utilized and asked if we would be open to an alternate space plan. Not only was Gittleman's bid on the original plan the most competitive one that we received, but the alternate plan that Scott brought back to us was far superior to the one that we had asked him to bid. We hired Gittleman to build the alternate plan. Gittleman did what they said they were going to do, on time, on budget, with excellent communication and a minimum of disruption to our daily life. We love the work that they did and ended up with a much better result than we would have had if we had not called them in. I probably wouldn't even shop any future renovations - I know that we have found a great contractor in Gittleman.

We have used Gittleman Construction for major home renovation projects twice; 15 years ago for our then new home which was 4 years old when we moved into it, and this past summer of 2012 for our new home which was 25 years old when we moved into it. In both cases, Gittleman Construction did the entire project from A-Z starting with the space planning and CAD designs, to demolition work, to the rough work, and the finish work. Gittleman construction has been a very straight-forward, honest, and caring company to do business with. Scott Gittleman and his team are very hands on, very detail conscientious, and treat their customers' homes as if it were their own. And, that's not to say that things did not go wrong, because in construction, especially renovation work of an existing or older home, there are always surprises that pop up and obstacles to overcome. And each time an obstacle or challenge presented itself, or something did not go as planned, like all truly good companies do, Gittleman Construction was dedicated to making things right, to doing their best to make their customer happy, and stood behind the quality of their work.
