We live in our interior spaces every day yet sometimes we don't even notice the walls anymore. A room makeover with custom design can make a huge difference in your life and in your home! From adding stripes to instantly change the look of a room, to creatively using paint to transform the ordinary into a custom piece of furniture, Raquel deCosta can help. With a passion for painting and decorative artwork, Raquel took a hobby that she loves and turned it into a business, InSiDesign. Based in Little Compton, Rhode Island, Raquel is an interior decorative artist working in greater Providence and Southeastern Massachusetts. InSiDesign provides a complete package of design services and specializes in custom interior painting, color consultations, faux finishes, wall murals, venetian plaster, children's themed rooms, glazing, wood graining, antiquing, and decorative painting of rooms and furniture. Raquel is known for combining an interior designer’s sense of color and style with an artist’s creative ability to transform many clients’ rooms with her painting techniques. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design where she earned certificates of decorating painting and interior design. When she’s not busy with her business, Raquel enjoys gardening as well as creating many different kinds of art pieces using the skills she learned at RISD. She shares her home with her husband, Gary, and their pets in Little Compton, RI.

We contacted Rachael from The Fabric Connection in Newport. She helped us with some rooms that were very disconnected. I hired Raquel DeCosta of Insidesign to basically help me transform my all white walls in the downstairs entryway which flowed into upstairs hallway into a more warm and inviting environment. Because she was so good at listening to what I wanted and made excellent suggestions, I asked her to help me with the kitchen, a small room off the entryway and a TV room on the second floor. Her work is impeccable and perfect. She used warm Tuscan colors and painted wide stripes in the hallway that look like wallpaper. People can't believe it is paint. Since we have a view of the woods, marshes and the ocean in the distance from the upstairs TV room, Raquel "brought the outside in" by using yellow and greens in a decorative glaze that makes the room feel like the outside. In the kitchen, she suggested painting the walls aqua and also the ceiling a subtle aqua. She also washed the cabinets and replaced the hardware - voila! ...a totally new look!

Raquel was very professional. She helped us choose colors and decorative finishes. She had great suggestions that really made a huge difference. She was very dependable and neat. She was very positive and flexible. It was very important to her that we were satisfied with her work...and we are! We absolutely love the deco finishes including 1 color over another in one room and a subtle stripe in another room. The deco finishes look just like wallpaper! We have already received compliments from friends and family. I will definitely hire her again.

I could not have been more pleased and satisfied with the work done by insidesign! The paint job was perfectly done, and there was some complicated prep work to be done first. The color advice I received was very helpful. Raquel really knows what she is doing and could completely handle everything I asked her to do and more!! She brings wide experience and many talents to the job. Her clean up job was the best I have ever experienced and I have hired many people in the 30 years I have been a homeowner. I literally did not have to do anything when she was finished. A pleasure to work with this talented artist. Insidesign has my highest recommendation!! Do not hesitate to hire this company!

Raquel DeCosta of Insidesign is a miracle worker! Armed with just a couple cans of paint, a few paintbrushes and her imagination, she transformed a tired kids' bathroom that was last updated in the early 1970s into a funky, colorful bathroom that my teenage daughter and son now love. After listening to the kids’ like and dislikes and giving it quite a bit of thought, Raquel selected a palette of vibrant colors and created a circle design that was suitable for both kids. She used the paint to revive the walls, ceiling and even a Formica-topped vanity that was still very functional but not very attractive. Raquel also hand picked new eye-catching hardware for the vanity drawers, towel hook and medicine cabinet that really added the finishing touches to the total room transformation. I would definitely use Raquel DeCosta again for any type of interior or decorative painting job. Her attention to detail, ability to incorporate her customers’ ideas, as well as her creativity and eye for picking just the right colors are what set her apart from so many other painters. She is a joy to work with and a true professional. I think she worked wonders with paint by transforming a drab and dreary room into a fun and funky space. But my kids’ opinions on the new design are much more telling about the quality of Raquel’s work. They both agreed after seeing the finished room -- “this bathroom rocks!”
