We hired Caryn to redesign our finished basement and home office. She was really great at listening to our needs and preferences and making sure the function of the space fit our lifestyle. I was hesitant to hire a designer because we were on a tight budget, but her recommendations fit our price range, and she designed the plans in a way that let us implement the changes in phases. I'm including before and after photos so you can see how an overwhelming disaster area turned into a cozy, welcoming space.

Caryn is a pleasure to work with on our new, UWS, NYC apt! She listens thoughtfully to what we want and she is efficient and creative about making our vision a beautiful reality in our new home. She is also attentive to budget and extremely trustworthy and talented at design!

What started as a consult to get advice on new flooring and paint color turned into a thoughtful redesign of our first floor with an intent to take advantage of rooms and space and create common areas for our growing family. Through a fun discovery process, she immediately picked up on our preferences, style and lifestyle and provided multiple ideas and options that fit our budget at each step of the project. She brought in skilled and reliable contractors and ensured all work met the highest standards. We were able to accomplish: - New hardwood flooring to replace the hodgepodge mix of tile, hardwood, carpet and pergo of previous owners; - New paint color scheme for all rooms plus accent wallpaper focus for two walls; - Repurposing of rarely used formal living and dining rooms to common/family rooms; - Custom-built couch for our narrow family/tv room; - Refacing of fireplace plus built in cabinetry to house our flatscreen tv - Replacement of all window coverings and hardware; - Custom-built bookshelves for our multi-purpose dining room; - Design and placement of wall art, books and other objects, plus existing furniture to improve room flow and use of space; - Redesign of lighting in all rooms; - New quartz kitchen countertop, tile backsplash. Caryn was committed to getting our home ready so we could fully enjoy welcoming our second child in a home that truly reflected our family. We love our newly designed home and hope to work with Caryn in the future on additional projects for the house. Highest recommendation!!!

Currently, we are working with Caryn on our second project. The first project was a small bathroom update. In this design, her great knowledge of spatial relationships and the use of light really shone. The footprint of the bathroom and its contents did not change but the space was completely transformed into a much lighter, airier, seemingly larger room with the use of glass, mirror, and a wall edit. I deferred to her advice on a feature tile wall and having lived with it for a year now, I am so thankful I did! Her experience and insight into what will work and how it will look in the end are key to a successful design. She thinks of the smallest details and finishes right from the beginning, so there's no guesswork towards the end of the project. She has a great eye for style, innovation, and interesting pieces. Caryn is a sensitive listener, very easy-going. Working with her is always smooth, efficient, and productive. Her designs are a sensitive balance of form and function -- employing the latest innovations and solutions with a space that is meant to be lived in.

Caryn rocks! I am a contractor on the CT shoreline and I was lucky enough to be the builder for one of Caryn's renovations. Having never worked with her I didn't know what to expect but I was happily surprised. She is everything you would hope for from a business perspective...always on time, easy to communicate with and easy going. From a design perspective she surpassed our expectations. Her designs are completely unique and extremely detail oriented. Her focus on the small details produces a finished product that has enormous personality. We really enjoyed working with her and look forward to many more projects!

Caryn has worked on 10 or more projects over many years. We love working with Caryn. She is very easy to work with focused and driven and extremely flexible. While the project is underway, she sees updated photographs to save time and is able to work with limited supervision, With the rebuild of our beach house she was willing to meet around my schedule i.e. Saturday or Sunday and nights. Even with a long drive. Caryn is never too busy for the client. We often spoke about changes and costs and she is really flexible and fair. Caryn is good with contractors and staying on target timelines is paramount with her. Caryn is a mom and good one, but kids come first. Sometimes they'll be on an appointment only because you have to in today's day and age, I never had a problem with that. Caryn has been involved with 3 beach homes, personal residence, (rebuilding fireplace and walkways on a 1930’s home) , office building interior design work, fix and flip rehabs and some impossible solutions. Caryn works with an onion skin paper and starts a sketch of the project ...as you start talking through YOUR design ideas. Caryn is up on specialty materials. She knows what works and what does not When we needed design colors for the interior of our oceanfront home she excused herself for a few moments and grabbed sand and grass and moving it around on the glass table came up with the color pallets that worked. Last year we had an impossible to work very small kitchen on a fix and flip home and Caryn made that happen easily with a workable design.

Our experience with Caryn Paradis was excellent from start to finish. We had an unfinished basement that we wanted to finish and didn't know where to begin. Caryn talked with us in detail about how we wanted to use our basement and then came up with plans that included all of our needs as well as ideas that we hadn't even considered but should have. She was able to design a space that incorporated areas for everyone in our family, including our young son--even a stage that could be pulled apart for use as couches when he becomes a teenager! Because we live in separate states, Caryn was able to do much of the work remotely with minimal visits to our home to take measurements, etc. She had finish samples sent directly to us quickly and walked us through the decision making process. She designed specific requests, such as a fireplace for my husband and a guest room/office area. Caryn paid attention not only to the aesthetics of the job, but also the practicalities, such as outlet placement and HVAC. She also included amenities such as a well-placed dorm fridge which will come in handy when our son is old enough to use the space as a hang-out with friends. All in all, the job was smooth, well-designed and surprisingly painless. Caryn listened to our needs and then exceeded them. We would recommend her without reservation.
