Deslaurier Custom Cabinets

I do not have the energy to summarize all of the emails, calls and meetings we have had to try and remedy our brand new kitchen done by Deslaurier. The product is fine overall, but you can forget about customer service, and they make mistakes that will take months (if ever?) to rectify. Our designer sent us designs that made no sense, and it ultimatly I sent her a mark up on photos of the design myself. FYI - nobody has yet to fix the mistakes in our kitchen and it’s been 7 months since install. I still cannot put all my dishes away. Pictures will tell you what you need to know. Uneven shelving, cheap nail covers, flimsy shelves, mismatched paint, gable cut to the wrong length but installed anyway… Everyone who comes to my house sees it. I don’t have to do the advertising, people see this every time they are here guys. I hate giving bad reviews. My job is marketing and PR. But when businesses don’t take care of their customers, make them pay upfront and delay fixing mixing mistakes… that is a critical error.

Unfortunately, this company is overextended, understaffed, and has little after-care service. There has been one issue after another and the company is completely missing in action now that the job is 95% complete. Their product is good, but, if I had to do it over again, I would 100% choose another company to deal with unless I was dealing with a very small project. Just Some of the Issues: - Backing for exposed shelf in one section a different colour than the rest - Failed to provide for electrical outlets on side of island - despite this being on the drawings from day 1 (and, I believe, necessary for Code in our jurisdiction) - Experienced designer quit Deslaurier and was replaced with junior designer who didn't take ownership of the project - Needed to be told repeatedly that fan would not fit inside fan hood - they kept insisting it would even though it was larger than the dimensions of the hole for the cabinet None of this would be too bad if Deslaurier owned its mistakes (instead of trying to deflect) and fixed issues promptly.

we bought a house through builder in Ottawa and they have contract with Deslaurier to design and build their kitchens. when we see the installed kitchen has multiple flaws, sloppy workmanship with cheap looking finishes and job not well done professionally gives us the feel that kitchen will be far from looking unfit ( wrong size cook top cutout, trims are missing, cabinet doors are not properly installed, meta boxes has in proper alignments etc. etc...) The design staff at delaurier we worked with was very dry and none responsive at times with Zero professional input at planning stage. The selections are good, The delivery and installation was sloppy and quite frankly looks like it was installed by amateurs. After sales customer service communication is beyond horrible and non responsive and supportive. cabinet that is not worth the significant money they charged me for it. I would not recommend this company or their installers! If you have the time and energy to invest in endless phone calls and emails, then go ahead, otherwise, I would looks elsewhere!

Don't be fooled by the display of awards at the Deslaurier show room, I can promise you that your kitchen will be far from looking like an award winning kitchen. Although the design process was relatively smooth and the selections are good, the delivery and installation was sloppy and quite frankly looks like it was installed by amateurs. Our ensuite bathroom was designed by Barb Purdy. It completely transformed the look and feel of the bathroom, even though we kept the same tub and toilet. It is much more useful than before, with more storage and mirrors, and better lighting. It has a crisp clean look. Everyone who sees it for the first time is blown away. Could not be happier. Barb is a true professional. We had a few problems (like any project) but she dealt with them all.

What a great experience we had with Deslauriers. Barb Purdy was instrumental helping us each step of the way. Our bathrooms turned out so well we have gone back a year later to redo our kitchen. Excellent service and selection.

Dealing with Deslauriers has been an exceptional experience, from the planning stage to the delivery stage. I was most impressed with the scheduled walkthrough afterwards to make sure the project was completed with the highest standards. Any little hiccups were fixed immediately and without question. Thank you!

Buyer beware. Sales staff were good, product was as ordered but the cabinet installation was of poor quality (counter install was ok though) and they were very slow or non-responsive when it came to inspecting it and fixing it. After months I finally gave up trying and am stuck with a cabinet that is not worth the significant money they charged me for it. Unfortunately, they make you pay before installation so you are stuck. I would not recommend this company or their installers!

As a Local customer in ottawa, we are asked by our home builder to contact Deslaurier for our cabinet. First year, I report several issues about cabinet with less glue used. Second year, problem arise again some other place caused less nail used. Such a Bad quality workmanship. It was supposed to be a high quality cabinet builder. But after such a rapid growing, it seems like quality control is out of control right now. I don't want to give one star at all. They charge its service with high cost , but provide really low service. =============================================================== The vice president Mr. Jim Deslaurier, just contacted us for the repair. I think that this company treat its reputation seriously. He promised to fix all the problems around this kitchen island. I am very happy with their quick response and professional explanation for everything.

I met with the kitchen designer to develop two different kitchens (one for resale and one for myself). I was challenged by the various decisions - ie what would a potential buyer desire and what was my own style/preference. Initially I was thinking that would happen from my consultations with the designer; I had never taken on such a huge project. However I see now how advisable it is to go in with some design preferences and work from them; there is lots to choose from. Ultimately the kitchen designer's feedback and suggestions were very helpful. The workspace in both kitchens is excellent. The workmanship of the cabinet makers is excellent and they have been very receptive to those adjustments that can happen after things settle. Now that things are settled, I love my kitchen!

Deslaurier Custom Cabinets delivers a superior finished product. Their design centre, attention to detail and material selections are second to none. We will continue to recommend Deslaurier to our customers!
