Ken Spriggs is a prodigious architect with an unmatchable combination of qualities! Preservation America Foundation hired The Spriggs Group to prepare drawings to restore Glen Mary Plantation Main House to its original 1848 appearance. This project entailed working with The National Park Service. It began with Ken evaluating and documenting Glen Mary in the perspectives of both context and time to understand the influences of the environment in which the building exists. He was on a quest for authenticity. Scale, balance, and the perfect proportion of the building’s classic design inspired Ken and were the soul and underpinnings of his restoration design drawings. The result was a dramatic transformation - from something completely derelict to a structure realizing its original architectural genius. Breathtaking! Ken’s competence, focus and attention to detail, made this possible. Glen Mary is receiving great public acclaim. Visitors are awed by the stunning and authentic restoration. A triumph! Ken’s personal integrity commands respect, yet he is affable and patient, willing to explain and clearly communicate. His communication skills extend to structural engineers and contractors to ensure his artistic vision is translated into technically and structurally sound results.
