Hurst Design Build Remodel

I remodeled my kitchen/eating area. Hurst transformed a small space with 7 doors and 2 windows into a beautiful space accommodating an entryway from both the garage and backyard, countertop eating area for 2, and nearly quadrupled useable kitchen space. Throughout the entire project everyone was professional, helpful, and courteous. They made sure I was comfortable with all decisions/changes and provided regular updates so I knew what to expect. I love my new kitchen! I highly recommend Hurst.

We worked with Pat Hurst of Hurst Design Build a while back on a partial kitchen remodel and main floor bathroom remodel. Having built a prior trust and appreciation of their craftsmanship we contracted with them again for a full kitchen and master bath remodel. The entire process working with Kara Shelley, Melissa Hurst, Dina Jereb, Brian Hurst, Danny Mize, Amy Tilow, Ryan Wallace and Doug Dilley proved to be well worth it! Danny Mize and Mark Ballok were just here to do an annual review to evaluate their work under warranty. Such a nice service! All were professional, kind and responsive to deliver our beautiful remodel.

Hurst completed a remodel of our 90+ year old basement into a speakeasy with wine room. TJ helped us figure out what we wanted and what it might cost. Kara was our designer and she did a great job capturing the look we were after. Danny led the team and kept us informed every step of the way as he and Doug and Matt completed key items like the millwork, bookcase door, and installation of a very heavy fireplace mantle. Fabio did great work on the flooring. Joey did all the electrical including replacement of old knob and tube. They all worked together to create an ideal basement space that is both new and still looks like it belongs in our old Tudor home.

The most professional remodeling experience I could have imagined. Having lived in our home during the remodel, Hurst went above and beyond for our family. Their attention to detail is exceptional. Any problem we had was promptly addressed (even when the remodel was long over). Each person who entered our home was kind, knowledgeable, and tidy. Truly cannot say enough good things about our experience.

We recently had two major renovations completed at our home, using Hurst Design Build Remodel. In 2022, Hurst built an exterior room addition and a new front porch, along with new siding and stonework; and in 2024, Hurst completed an interior renovation, including new flooring and paint throughout the house, and an updated kitchen and two bathrooms. Hurst provided excellent design services for both projects, incorporated the ideas we discussed, and guided us throughout the selection process. The Hurst team is organized and goes to great lengths to document and communicate the work they are doing. The schedule, daily logs (with photos each day of the work done), selections, and changes, were all documented for us to review at any time. In addition, the Project Manager held and documented weekly update meetings, to review what was completed last week, and to discuss what was scheduled for the coming week. All of the Hurst employees, and their sub-contractors, performed excellent quality work in a professional and friendly manner. They kept the worksite clean throughout both projects. Hurst pays great attention to post-construction follow-up. They have a dedicated team that is working with us to finish our 11-month punch list. In summary, we are extremely pleased with their work and personnel. We would recommend Hurst Design Build Remodel without reservation.

We just completed a large expansion project on our ground floor opening up three rooms. Hurst finished the project on the exact day they anticipated despite the fact that the demo revealed significant unexpected and necessary structural work. The communication with everyone at Hurst was timely and professional. Pat Hurst set us up with an amazing team with Tammi Graf developing a terrific design/advising on selections and Michael Maynard project managing a diverse set of vendors in addition to the skilled craftsmanship he brought himself. Michael and his team were in our home for four months but it never felt intrusive and they kept the construction "mess" tidy and never overflowing into other parts of our home. Confidence, trust, execution (not normally things you would associate with a construction project). Job finished on budget, on the exact day they said it would, and every part of the job was handled by true professionals, with constant and helpful oversight from our Project management team. From design phase, through build, couldn't have been more helpful, and would recommend without hesitation.

As an interior designer for 40 years I have worked with many companies for renovations and new home construction…I can not say enough about how professional and excellent Hurst Design is. They are the best!!! From start to finish in meetings with Pat Hurst and designer Tammi Graff and continuing with construction manager Tyler the excellent work, attention to detail, responsiveness to client questions and helping to make sure time frame schedules were met was terrific. The “subs” were all excellent and if problems arose they were explained and resolved quickly and in a professional and friendly manner. Also the construction site was exceptionally clean and that is unusual! During this addition including a very large kitchen the clients very demanding schedules were always on the minds of Hurst to insure as little disruption as possible. It truly was a pleasure and having weekly meetings with Tyler only added to the calm and professionalism everyone felt. In fact…the clients are excited to begin again with Hurst for phase two and then phase three. I too look forward to working with them with these clients and on other projects in the future. We used Hurst to design and build a significant addition to our home. We added a three-season room as well as a ground floor master suite. The ground floor master suite included a master bedroom, master bathroom and room-sized walk-in closet. The design was incredible (thank you Tammi Graf). The workmanship was perfect (thank you Tyler Wilhelm). Hurst communicated with us very well throughout the project. We knew what the workplan was week-to-week and month-to-month. They worked around our busy schedules. The project was completed in two phases over two years. We are so happy in our updated forever home. We recommend Hurst Design Build Remodeling to anyone undertaking a big project in their home.

Overall, we did a full first floor remodel with Hurst and had an overall great experience. Our project manager (Tyler) was amazing and the craftsman (especially Mike) were extremely skilled, friendly and accommodating. The design process was thorough and we landed on some options we love but would have never imagined if it was just us. The Good Absolute amazing craftsman on site, some truly stunning quality custom work Extremely high quality work across the board Very strong warranty and responses on warranty items Good design process with lots of ideas generated Room for Improvement Like any remodel, we had a few bumps along the way. Our project was in the middle of rising costs in the pandemic, so we did have some budget issues along the way. And I also got the impression the back of house office operations at Hurst were running thin at times as we did have a handful of miscommunications.

I just finished working with Hurst Design Build & Remodel on an entire house remodel & addition for a 1950's home. The Hurst Design team did a fantastic job in reimagining the space & coming up with creative ideas to modernize my house. I enjoyed working with Pat Hurst & Bridget DiFilippo on the project. Their attention to detail, design/ selection recommendations & communication were outstanding. The design process using Builder Trend app was helpful to see all project meeting notes, selections, daily project logs including pictures & invoices. The design team stayed involved through out the project. The Hurst production team did an outstanding job. Tyler Wilhelm, the project manager was very knowledgeable & kept me informed with weekly meetings. Having a project manager assigned to schedule every aspect of the construction process & to oversee the project was invaluable. Everyone on the Hurst team made you feel part of their family.
